Who do you live your life for? My name is Dr. Jocelyn Reynolds. I ran a successful practice in child psychiatry until the day I was abducted by a woman suffering from severe psychosis, McClaine Henry. "Who do you live your life for?" I lay in a one-room dungeon for eight weeks, trying to find the answer to that question. I felt her eyes lurking in the corner-watching me. Her icy touch seared my skin. The torture, the suffering was nearly intolerable. Until the day I met her, I thought I lived my life for my blossoming family and my passion for helping children. But Once I left my captor, I found that my life may be best spent searching for deeper truths. Psychosis, just like cancer, permeates the mind. The difference between the two diseases is that one affects only the inflicted individual and the other spreads to infect others-the victims. I've never fully discussed the events that took place in that dungeon with McClaine. For the past nine years, I've done everything to keep the nightmare suppressed far inside the deepest recesses of my psyche. For nine years, I'd been successful ... until Karen, my best friend and fellow therapist, was kidnapped too. Her abductor, a seasoned serial killer, reached out to me for help, and he warned that my friend's life, and countless others, could be spared if I just took a moment to listen to his plight. The mere thought that Karen could be enduring the torture I had faced, forced me to walk into the shadows and follow into the footsteps of Chicago's newest nemesis. To catch a sociopath you must think like one-become one. I've met one before. McClaine was rare. And although I've spent nine years trying to forget her, working the case of Karen's abduction has forced me to drudge up past demons and confront the truth. McClaine will always be a part of me ... I realize that now. Today, I live my life to maintain an ideal daydream.

STR8 CR8ZY

Dr. Jocelyn Reynolds is a successful child psychologist...that is until the day she was abducted. Abducted by a woman who suffers from severe psychosis. Whom locked Jocelyn inside a room that looked like a dungeon for approximately eight long weeks, malnourished and assaulted on a daily basis. When she was finally able to get away, Jocelyn knew her life would never be the same. When she finally was able to regain some semblance of normalcy she decides to forgo child psychology and instead focus on dealing with adults.

Nine years have passed...and then the unthinkable happens, Jocelyn's best-friend and fellow therapist, Karen was abducted. For what reason? Could it be a random act of violence or could it be something even deeper than anyone could ever imagine? With the disappearance of her best friend, it triggers memories of her own abduction. Jocelyn is trying hard to hold it together, but will she be able to deal with the horrifying truth behind Karen's disappearance?

STR8 LACED by Pheare Alexander was a phenomenal novel! Ms. Alexander explodes onto the literary scene with a novel that will have you guessing until the very end. This author has such a vivid and twisted imagination leaving for a very crazy storyline, that was well written and executed and kept this reader glued to her seat. Warning: There are graphic scenes that are not for the faint at heart, but trust me when I tell you this was an excellent novel. The only reason I did not give the book 5- stars is because of a few dicrepencies that the author assured me would be corrected in the next print. By no means does this take away from the story. I HIGHLY recommend this novel!

Psychosis; an abnormal condition of the mind, is it safe to say that most of us display abnormalities? A sociopath is one who is affected with a personality disorder marked by antisocial behavior. Really?

Dr. Jocelyn Reynolds and Karen Jacobs's have been friends for eighteen years they shared several journeys together; undergrad and medical school. But the journey they both will be forced to take will be like no other. Neither one realizes that they were in fact living their dream, when their lives is interrupted by someone else with a dream, McClaine Ethel Henry.

Dr. Reynolds says "today I live my life to maintain an ideal dream"; the problem with this statement is when your dream begins to spill out into the life of others, it can wreck havoc or euphoria.

It was so tough to review this book without giving away the many twist and turns. While reading Str8 Laced, I could feel the fear of living and the fear of dying living within McClaine. This is my first psycho sexual thriller and I must say it was really something different. The blood, gore and absolute madness displayed within will keep this book at the forefront of my memory.

The storyline would be thin were it not for Pheare Alexander's excellent ability at research of the mind. Alexander's imagery gives the reader exactly what he/she needs to escape into the story

I have a question for Dr. Reynolds and McClaine; is it really through our dreams that we manifest our best life?

I love books dealing with mental illness! Dr. Reynolds is a big time child psychologist until the day she is kidnapped. After she is returned home things are not the same for her. She tries to get back into the flow of things, then her best friend is kidnapped. Will she be able to get her friend home alive and at what costs? This book had lots of twists and turns from beginning to end. This book was look a good episode of Criminal Minds and I can't wait to read more from this author
