This was a crazy-intense thrill ride through a paranormal world of suicide bombers. I was caught up from the very start. Intense action scenes and much like “Inception” you never quite know what to believe or where you really are. So well done!

Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader.

“End Game” by David Toft

🕵🏽‍♂️If you want to see how artfully the witch helps the head of the Scotland Yard squad to investigate the weirdest cases, this dynamic fantasy novel is what you need.

🕵🏻‍♀️The Plot: Stuart Wilson is the head of Scotland Yard’s antiterrorist squad. Together with his American colleague launch an unusual investigation. The case appears to be full of scary events and unbelievable facts. The case needs a magical intrusion. That’s why the help of a beautiful witch is much needed in the investigation. No soul buyer will escape from her unwavering gaze full of magic.

🕵🏻‍♀️The Writing Style: I read this book almost in one sitting. (Just because I have two kids, who interrupt my process from time to time). This cleverly and beautifully written fantasy novel full of dynamically developing events and scary episodes. The author masterfully depicted the details. Most of the scenes are portrayed so vividly that it feels like you can touch the moon and explore its every inch. I really enjoyed the short chapters. It felt like jumping from one star to another, approaching the final one where the case is about to be solved.

🕵🏽‍♂️The Characters: I quickly got acquainted with all the characters due to the incredibly detailed portrayal. I rarely meet such meticulously depicted characters when reading about the color of eyes makes me dive into two lakes with 1000 and 1 shade of blue. The habits and psychological features are also described brilliantly, making my heart squeeze while reading about vulnerable and trapped souls.

❤️‍🔥My Favorite Quote: “If you take away the magic nothing makes sense.”

💙Would I read other books by this author: Yes!

🌟My humble rating is: 5/5

Though I am not a fan of dark fantasy, this book had me hooked.

The plot was gripping, fast-paced and packed with twists and turns like in an action movie. I liked how the author described the actions of ordinary people who are forced to deal with extraordinary circumstances, caused by an evil mage and sources of paranormal power from parallel worlds. The story is well-written with imaginative world building. Overall, I enjoyed the ‘End Game’. In my opinion, this book is a very worthy choice for fans of dark, paranormal fantasy and thrillers.

A fast paced, unpredictable book with eclectic characters and explosive action. End Game is a unique read of dilemma, warped reality, fantasy with the right level of twists and turns, pace and engagement.
End Game tells the story of many elements of life that are real mixed in with fantasy.
I liked the characters, especially Wilson and Rubek.
A paranormal, imaginative page turner.

Well Worth the Read

"End Game" by David Toft is a riveting thriller that expertly weaves elements of suspense, magic, and global chaos into a gripping narrative. The story opens with a series of suicide attacks that push the world towards anarchy, compelling Scotland Yard’s Stuart Wilson and his American counterpart, Bill Rubek, to hunt down a diabolical mastermind orchestrating these events from another realm. This adversary is not just manipulating individuals but trading their souls, adding a chilling supernatural dimension to the already intense plot.

Toft's storytelling prowess is evident as he introduces a rich cast of characters, including Karrina, a mystic with her own mysterious agenda. Her presence and the legacy she carries add depth and intrigue to the narrative, hinting at a conflict that transcends the immediate crisis. The character development is commendable, especially the villain and his accomplices, who are crafted with such complexity that they evoke a mix of emotions from the reader.

The narrative is a masterclass in pacing and suspense, with twists that leave the reader both thrilled and anxious. Toft's ability to maintain a web of interconnected storylines without losing momentum is remarkable. His descriptive writing style enriches the narrative without bogging it down, ensuring that the story flows seamlessly.

For readers like me who typically shy away from the suspense genre, "End Game" is a revelation. It's a testament to Toft's skill that he can not only satisfy genre enthusiasts but also convert skeptics with his compelling storytelling. The book is more than just a story; it's an experience that stays with the reader long after the last page is turned.

In summary, "End Game" is a high-octane, well-crafted novel that combines action, supernatural elements, and intricate storytelling. It's a must-read for anyone looking for a book that is both intellectually stimulating and wildly entertaining. David Toft's ability to create an entire universe within a single novel is a rare talent, making this book a standout in its genre. Highly recommended for its intricate plot, dynamic characters, and breathtaking pace.

End Game is a fast-paced story set primarily in our world that mixes in more magic as the book progresses through the story. This is going to be a difficult one for me to review as how the book was written is very much not for me. For one thing, there were just too many characters that we’re going into the mind of. While it is third person, we’re experiencing the world from their world view. Instead of following along with the protagonists and one antagonists, instead we have about five protagonists in different or even the same place where maybe three are the “big” players. Two main antagonists that we have to follow, and they were the ones that I actually started to care about because at least their story felt a little focused.

Then there were all the little characters that we would learn about moments of their lives and maybe their cultures before they had their moments in the books that might have an overreaching affect on the plot, but honestly it was just too much. I’m more a, give me a third person perspective but follow one maybe two people around and learn everything you need to through them. It also didn’t help that every section was very short so I hardly had a grasp on what was going on before the next scene happened. To my migraine, the hazy scenes just jumped around way too much for me to connect to anything that was happening.

Plus, the way that the women’s sex and sexuality in the story was treated made me uncomfortable.

That said, there were positive aspects of the books. The person had a firm grasp on the characters from what I could tell about them. They obviously loved their worlds and the people they had infested with them. The magic was cool, and when the violence happened, it was written in a very satisfying manner. If you’re looking for a fast, never stop moving, read, than this is probably for you.

There are authors and there are storytellers and I would put David Toft well and truly in the storyteller category. This is the first book of his that I have read but it won't be the last. Endgame is one hell of a story and he must have dug deep into his mind to conjure up the characters that positively race across the pages.
Starting with worldwide disasters that defy belief we learn that Leirbag is building an army of forsaken souls in his attempt to rule world after world. It is a book not to be read lightly. Concentration is needed to appreciate Toft's depth of imagination. It's not until three or four chapters in, that the reader begins to grasp just what Leirbag is up to. He is evil through and through showing no compassion for the vast number of people he will sacrifice to gain the twelve disciples he needs to achieve supreme power. Pitted against him is Wilson, a British policeman and it would seem improbable that he stands a chance of halting his murderous campaign. As I said this is one hell of a read and if you like your paranormal raw and fierce, this is the book for you. FIVE STARS and more.

End Game is a dark fantasy novel written by independent author David Toft. The book starts off with a wave of global suicide bombings designed to antagonise worldwide grievances. It soon becomes apparent two individuals are committing these acts, sometimes minutes apart on the other side of the globe.

While End Game starts off with a scenario that could conceivably take place in our world, it quickly turns towards the fantastical. Toft weaves a tale filled with mystery, magic and action. I was left to wonder what’s going on and where this story is headed.

This book features an ever-expanding cast of characters and is told from multiple points of view. It grants the reader insight on both sides of the conflict, including their motivations. This is especially effective when a character attempts to outmanoeuvre other players on the board.

End Game is a fast-paced read that plunges the reader into a high-stakes adventure where the fate of the world hangs in the balance. With its rich tapestry of characters and motivations, you’ll be left guessing until the very end.

I enjoyed this book. I knew from the first page that I would, although the book went in a completely different direction than I had ever imagined. The book started off like standard thriller fare and I liked this. I felt that I was in the hands of a competent story teller and it was like having my brain soothed. Then it went weird and intriguing and I had to keep up. There were so many elements to the story, so many layers. As a fantasy writer myself I loved all the symbolism which surely hints at a collective consciousness: the tower, the articles of power, the gorge. The pace is kept up all the way through, and although you might not understand why everything happened in the way it happened you always wanted to know what was going to happen next.
All in all a great read with not too much sex, a bit of violence but a balanced and reasonable outcome.

Stuart Wilson, head of Scotland Yard’s anti-terrorism squad, is trying to stop suicide bombings not only in his country but around the world. The more he learns, the more bizarre the situation becomes, given that the bombers appear to have already died weeks or months earlier. The investigation takes him on a strange journey to different worlds where even more bizarre and horrific unfold.

At first, it was challenging to figure out what was happening in this fantasy thriller. Viewpoints and settings abruptly change, often several times, within a chapter. Once I understood a little more, the plot became quite gripping. The instigator of all the trouble is truly evil without any redeeming qualities, however, other characters are more well-rounded. This is a fast-paced, imaginative story that will have you wondering how it all turns out.

"End Game", by author David Toft, is a well executed fantasy thriller. The premise is that suicide bombers around the globe are suddenly causing utter chaos and destroying world peace. Through the extraordinary investigative work of two desperate men, the bombers are discovered to be regenerating corpses from our world whose souls are held hostage on another. The entire plot moves between worlds and characters at a swift pace, so that readers are never quite prepared for what happens where at any given moment. The storyline is fascinating and delivered in a flawless style that entices being read straight through to the end. A satisfying rollercoaster ride of secrets, ancient magic, and betrayals, "End Game" is a must-read for fans of fantasy and dark suspense.

Great, action-driven dark fantasy tale! It’s a fast-paced story with a multiple point of views so you will never get bored. Filled with imagination and magic, yet it read a lot like a detective mystery, especially towards the begging of the book. The ending presented a strong world-building where the reality mixed with other worlds and ancient magic delivering some macabre images.

Overall, I recommend this book to fans of dark-fantasy (over 18 though, because of violence and sex scenes) looking for a story with fast action and a paranormal twist.

A suspenseful ride. David Toft takes us on a ride of belief and disbelief. We are asked throughout the book if we can accept that another race will try to take over our planet by getting humans to sacrifice themselves to save their loved one's souls. This is a wild ride. But the End Game is wilder.
