An interesting look at what might happen in a religious state. The author does a good job of showing the weakness of said state. Humanity's weakness to love itself more than God and others.

The concept of this book is extremely interesting. I found it in a thrift shop for a quarter and bought it for my husband, who didn't read it because I started browsing it and couldn't put it down. I read it right after the last election and the economy was starting to go haywire, gun sales were going up and I kept thinking as I read this, "What if this actually happened?" Because it could. Then I thought, "Nah, the only state ballsy enough to actually do this would be Texas, and honestly, they're too proud of being Americans to ever revolt against the country, so yeah, this will never happen." But it's a great story line and there's a lot of interesting concepts in here. Definitely worth reading right now if you're fascinated by politics.

Riveting and chilling. First published in 1996, this book paints a picture of what could still happen, given the current political climate.
