"- Czy wiesz, co to jest przyjaźń? - zapytał.
- Tak! - odpowiedziała Cyganka. - Jest to być bratem i siostrą: dwiema duszami, które się z sobą nie łączą, jak dwa palce u ręki.
- A miłość? - znowu rzekł Grintoire.
- Och! Miłość! - rzekła, a głos jej zadrżał i oko zabłysło. - Jest to to, że dwie duszę są jedną - mężczyzna i kobieta, którzy się zmieniają w anioła. To niebo!"
