I read this about a month ago and forgot to rate it, maybe because I had to put some distance and think about. I felt very conflicted by this story mostly because there where were parts that I really enjoyed and there were parts that just got on my nerves.

Once Armand and Destin began to have sex, they just wouldn't stop. This is a long story and after about a quarter of the way through the sex was repetitive and overwhelming. I wouldn't be surprised if the story is at least 50% sex. That was easily dealt with by just skipping the suckers and once I did that, the story flew by. There were rarely any distinctions between scenes, so I'm reading about something happening in one place and then had to backtrack because I was thrown elsewhere without warning. The head hopping was hard to figure out at times as well. There were an obscene amount of typos and words that didn't make sense in the context they were used and I had to once again stop and figure out what was being said. I mean when you keep reading Brain and it's supposed to be Brian it kind of throws you off.

Now I'm aware that this is free online fiction and some people would ask what do you expect, right? At one point I might have agreed. That is, until I read some incredible free stories online that would put many published works to shame. Just because it's free should not be an excuse for sloppiness.

What's so heartbreaking about this is that heart of the story is lovely. It has a very nice cast of characters that you end up caring about and I WANTED to know what happened. There is romance, humor, angst, heartbreak...all the good stuff that engage your emotions. Unfortunately, all the other things I mentioned were so overpowering that it disrupted the flow and overall enjoyment of the story. There is a sequel to this, but I don't think I'll be revising Armand and Destin. :(

Read this a million years ago. Can't wait to re-read this (if author ever finishes it)!!!

Edit: From the author's Fictionpress profile:

Hello all

Just to do an update. I had major brain surgery on June 3, 2014. Thank goodness, it turned out to be a non – cancerous, a stage one tumor that needed to be removed and now I just get to be watched for the next ten years. So its going to be a long road to being healthy again, but I am on the recovery and starting to feel wonderful.

Keep an eye out for anything I will post. I am excited about being able to actually work again with my writing and even working and school. I am hoping in a while to be back up and running like I was years ago and to be able to update again.

Here's to hoping for a swift recovery!
