Ally Kendal knows returning to her hometown to sell her mother's house isn't going to be easy. She left in disgrace years ago and hasn't been back since. But she's never forgotten the one man who awakened in her a secret yearning for wildly erotic sexual pleasure. . .
Undeniable Desire
Rob Ward is surprised at the surge of desire he feels when he first sees Ally after all this time. He's gotten over the betrayal he felt when he found her and his best friend together on the eve of his wedding, but it's obvious he's never given up wanting her. And now that she's back he'll show her what she's missed, how good he makes her feel, how easy it is for him to take control and bring her to the edge of sweet surrender. . .
"This book has something for hot sex scenes, a sexy hero with a tragic past, a smart and compassionate heroine, intrigue, danger and Regency London at its most decadent!" -- Romantic Times on Simply Sexual
"Can you say HOT? Well it doesn't get much hotter than Simply Sexual. From the first scorching page to the last, Kate Pearce takes you on a wild ride of sex and suspense, keeping you guessing until the very end." -- Simply Romance Reviews
Another great read from Kate Pearce! The summary is available for all to read, so I'm not recapping that here.
This is the first contemporary erotica novel that I have read by Ms. Pearce, and it does not disappoint. The characters hold your interest, the storyline moves along at a good pace, and the sexual situations are verrrry steamy! There is even a bit of suspense woven into the story.
While her historical House of Pleasures series is still my favorite, Raw Desire is well-written, and a very satisfying read! If you've enjoyed her historical series and/or love your contemporary erotica to include a good, solid storyline and characters, give this book a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
The tagline on the book said "It doesn't get any hotter than this", and I don't think truer words have ever been stated. RAW DESIRE was so extremely hot, so unbelievably erotic, I thought the book was going to go up in flames! Kate Pearce's contemporary romance debut is going to make huge waves!
Ally didn't think she'd ever come back to her hometown after leaving without a word amid a huge scandal many years ago. However, here she is back in the small town that she had escaped from, and facing her demons: namely Rob and Jackson.
Rob is still upset about Ally running out on him all those years ago, but that doesn't stop him from wanting her something fierce. He's a changed man, and he knows that he will stop at nothing to have Ally--even if that means sharing her with his best friend, Jackson.
As Rob, Ally and Jackson discover the insane chemistry between them, there are people who are none too happy that Ally is back in town. The trio must solve the mystery of who is out to get Ally before it's too late.
Holy smoldering hotness! This book was fantastic! I have to say that the description on the back of the book did not prepare me for what I had begun to read. This was a ménage book, and ended up being a bisexual ménage with some BDSM thrown in the mix as well. Talk about surprised--and pleasantly so! The sexuality was hard, rough, and so raw that RAW DESIRE was the absolute perfect title for this novel.
Ok, besides the sex (did I mention this book was HOT?), there was a lot of emotion in the book as well. Their shared past was tragic and there was a lot of baggage left from what happened. It was important to the development of their relationship to see what happened from everyone's point of view. It made a lot more sense that way. The author just tortured me with letting everything develop slowly giving us little tidbits of information before we got the complete picture. LOL
While the characters weren't my favorite ever, I think their flaws made the three of them perfect for each other. They complemented and challenged each other in a way that made them grow and discover the perfection of their ménage. The plot also had a bit of suspense and mystery to it to keep everything interesting.
RAW DESIRE was suspenseful, had tons of emotion, and was all kinds of erotic. I read it in one sitting because I simply refused to put it down. It was just that good. I am very familiar with Kate Pearce's Simply series, and I was quite impressed with this contemporary romance debut. If you like the Simply series, I think that you would be equally impressed with this spicy novel. Just make sure you've got the A/C on...you're gonna need it!
I had a hard time sympathizing with anyone but Jackson. Both Ally and Rob had a bad case of miscommunication and had so much unnecessary drama between the two of them. The sex scenes with the trio were hot and steamy but their chemistry outside of the bedroom left little to be desired. I wanted them to all take a time out and stop ruining my fun. Jackson, as I said, is excluded from my annoyance.
The plot was interesting enough but the murder mystery felt out of place. Just because the male leads are cops doesn't mean I need a background thriller to remind me of that ever few pages. As a matter of fact, everything felt hamfisted and over the top. The initial breakup with Rob and Ally, the death of Jackson's ex that followed, the reveal of who's been harassing Ally this whole time; this all felt like too much. I also didn't care for the writing style. Sadly, this does not come recommended at all.
(Take two on writing this review...was almost done it when I clicked a wrong button and it go eaten. No fun...)
Hmm...what to say about this book. Like any Kate Pearce book that I've read, I liked this one, enjoyed reading it and wanted to keep reading more, but at the same time, I wanted something a little bit more from it.
Series Note: No known series connections.
Summary: Ally Kendal is returning to her home town for the first time since she ran away the night she cheated on her almost fiance, Rob Ward, with his best friend, Jackson Smith. Her life is in shambles after her modeling career was destroyed by drug and alcohol abuse. So when her mother passes away, she returns home to sell her mother's house. What she hadn't counted on was that the chemistry would still be there between her and Rob. Or that Rob would want anything to do with her.
But Rob does want her. From the first moment he sees her again, he can't deny that he still wants her. And this time, he's determined not to make the same mistakes again so he invites his best friend Jackson into the mix and the three get involved in a hot and heavy sexual relationship. But no matter that they keep telling each other its only temporary, they all know they're kidding themselves. They'll have to work out the mistakes from the past first, though, and find out who is trying to run Ally out of town, before they can hope to build a future.
Review: I was so excited to read this book. First, because it's by Kate Pearce, and I just love her books. I've yet to read a stinker. Second, because I won a signed copy from the author (Thanks, Kate!) and Third because as anyone who regularly reads my reviews knows, I'm a total and absolute sucker for bi-menage HEA stories, of which this is one.
Did it hit the spot in all area? No, not quite. But I still liked it. On the erotic front, this book is definitely hot. Kate Pearce writes excellent sex scenes and knows how to put them into the book so that the story doesn't just seem like an endless sex fest. This is definitely one steamy book. It may not be to everyone's tastes. There is a bit of a D/s element. Nothing hardcore, but Ally is submissive and Rob definitely enjoys being the Dom and ordering her around in the bedroom. That's just something that may not appeal to everyone. Doesn't bother me in the least ;)
I also enjoyed the fact that Ally is somewhat of an atypical heroine. She's not a cookie cutter do-gooder, or an innocent beauty or whatever. She's definitely flawed - having cheated on Rob with his best friend, then dealing with drug and alcohol addiction. Makes her a bit more real.
There's also a little bit of a suspense element to the story. Nothing major or too involved, but enough that it gives the story some depth. I always like it when an erotic romance throws a suspense type plot into the mix, however mild it may be. In this case, Rob is curious about a decade old death that may not have been suicide, and there's also the fact that someone seems to have it in for Ally. They're not very overwhelming story elements, but they do a nice job of breaking up the story and keeping it from being too much about the sex.
So what didn't work for me? I think it all relates to character depth and the emotional element of the story. There were a couple different issues along this line that I thought could have been done better.
One being the character of Rob. I'm not sure I ever quite got around to liking him. He's a broody rather harsh guy with Dom tendencies. And there's nothing wrong with that, but at the same time there weren't enough glimpses into his softer insides to draw readers to him. It made feeling the romance between him and Ally a little difficult. Their interactions were too acrimonious and I just never thoroughly bought into the love between them.
Which wasn't helped by the fact that I liked Jackson, and Jackson/Ally as a couple much more. Jackson was a cool character. He's a lot like Ally in a lot of ways. And he's got that sexy loner nice guy vibe that I enjoyed. There just seemed to be a much better connection between Ally and Jackson than Ally and Rob.
But I would have liked to know more about Jackson. I thought his character development was a bit neglected. I wanted to know more about his time in the military, what happened to him, what led to his alcohol addiction, and more about his ambiguous sexuality.
I also wanted a bit more out the m/m element of the story. I'll admit to being a bit disappointed that it wasn't a more prominent part of the story. But that's just me and my love for true-blue bi-menage HEAs. The m/m aspect doesn't really come into play until more toward the end of the book and I just would have like it to be a bit more forefront. Something about it was too casually done.
My criticisms aren't meant to mean I didn't like the book. Because I did enjoy it. It's a hot read with some interesting characters and a nice storyline. There were just some elements that I thought could have been done better/differently to make the book really stand out and be excellent.
I'll still be looking forward to Kate Pearce's next book (I think it's the next Simply book. And I just love that series.)
WARNING, this book contains: explicit sex and language, m/f sex, m/m sex, m/f/m sex, oral, anal/ass play, D/s (mild), spanking, bondage (mild), some exhibitionist tendencies...I think that covers most of it...
Ally Kendal and Rob Ward share a bad history. She cheated on him years ago with his best friend, Jackson Smith, and then she left town. Now she's back to fix up and sell her deceased mother’s house. Jackson's girlfriend at the time, Susan, found them in bed together and supposedly committed suicide. Now sheriff of the small town, Rob doesn’t believe she killed herself; he thinks it was murder, and he wonders if maybe Ally’s mother was involved somehow. She was dealing drugs and hanging out with a lot of unsavory characters at the time. He feels a need to investigate, but he doesn’t want Ally to know.
I have to admit, neither Ally nor Rob was very likeable at first. He’s dominant and he’s sure his sexual intensity and demands were what scared her away and into Jackson’s arms all those years ago. They were really all too young to know what they wanted, and despite the passing of years, they still question their own sexual desires and preferences.
In my opinion, Jackson is by far the nicest person in the whole story. He’s patient, caring, and he almost acts as a buffer between Rob and Ally.
Because Kate Pearce is a master of erotic romance (and one of my favorite authors of all time), the sex scenes with Rob and Ally are lava hot, and the intimacy between Rob and Jackson will likely melt your panties. 'Raw Desire' is packed with very complex emotions, and it’s a definite page-turner. I felt compelled to keep reading way past my bedtime just to see what would happen next. It’s angsty and edgy. It’s intensely sexual, even when the characters aren’t very happy with each other.
Rob, Ally, and Jackson are trying to reconcile a lot of past hurts and at first they don’t really know what they want from each other. When they start to realize what they do want, what they can barely admit to themselves, they can’t admit to each other until the time is right. I thought it was very interesting to see the relationship rebuilding between dominant Rob, independent, spirited Ally, and borderline dominant but more grounded Jackson. In many instances, misunderstandings and anger replace honest communication, but I think that keeps the book honest and true to how these characters would act and react. Readers who enjoy dramatic and edgy erotic contemporary romance with lots of angst and some suspense should really enjoy this book.
It’s 2011 and Ally Kendal knows returning to her hometown to sell her mother’s house isn’t going to be easy. She left in disgrace years ago and hasn’t been back since and the town’s residents hate her. Rob Ward is surprised at the surge of desire he feels when he first sees Ally after all this time. He’s gotten over the betrayal he felt when he found her and his best friend Jackson together. Suspense, steamy, second chances all made for a book I found hard to put down. I loved the dynamics between Ally, Rob & Jackson & how their relationship developed & changed the chemistry between them was electric. There’s also the mystery surrounding Susan’s death, plus someone is targeting Ally. A very well written engrossing novel I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is a contemporary M/F/M erotic novel. If that's not your thing, keep moving. Ally and Rob were a "thing" in high school. Their break -up was complicated by her fling with Jackson and the alleged subsequent suicide of Jackson's girlfriend, Susan. It's a small town so everyone knows everyone and their business. Now, years later, Rob is casually seeing Lisa, Susan's sister. Jackson, now a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, has also returned and works with Rob. Unresolved issues arise - both feelings and the questionable death of Susan Evans. Much like Pearce's Some Like It Rough, the unresolved feelings that Ally has requires both Rob and Jackson. All in all an entertaining read. Again, it's erotica so if you threesomes bother you this is not the book for you.
Picked this up at the local library sale- sounded like a decent cop tale with some hot sex thrown in. Turns out to be a book about a conflicted menage de trois with two guys and a lady. The police procedures and investigation are a thin cover and serve as a backdrop to the sex. The sex is described very graphically and well done with emphasis on both male and female pleasure. Some mild S&M in the book but otherwise the sex is fairly vanilla. Book does have some homosexual sex in it which I did not like, as is is not my cup of tea, but others might find the thought of two guys in bed doing each other with a woman between them hot.
I read this story way back when it first came out but after living for another 10+ years, the chaos of longing and loneliness, of second chances and first attempts just resound a little more clearly. Jackson, Rob and Ally all have a past that led to feelings of abandonment, resentment and unreconciled love. But with her returning to the small town unexpectedly, these feelings are brought forth into the light where the relationship between them slowly grows and changes with who they are now, as opposed to who they were then. This is a very spicy and sexy story.
This was a very steamy read. Ally hurt Rob in the past and ran away. She came back to take care of her mother's house where she found a lot of surprises, pain, and happiness. Rob was distant but found he could not stay away. Things heat up when Rob's best friend, Jackson, steps to straighten out the past. Together, the threesome mended their broken hearts as the truth came out, and they found a love in their triad. I enjoyed their journey and recommend this story, which was the 2024 version.
I received a copy, and this is my unsolicited review.
Hot, hot, hot romantic suspense. There is M/M, MF, MFM and BDSM, D/S. The characters or Rob, the sheriff, Jackson, his deputy and Ally who just came home. There is lots of drama, mystery & romance. The blurb is great and just gives a tiny look into the three friend's lives. I look forward to reading more books by Ms Pearce.
I was conflicted about this book. I found myself being more interested in the mystery than I was in the relationship between Jackson, Rob, and Ally. This turned out to be more of an MMF story than an MFM.
It seemed like something was missing. I am not sure what exactly. I didn't like Rob's character at all. I thought he was both arrogant and unpleasant. I liked Jackson, and was pretty indifferent to Ally. It was intimated that Jackson had issues due to his stint in the military. Jackson and Ally did have some things in common. I felt like Jackson was the most stable character out of them all.
Rob and Ally spent a ridiculous amount of time being unable to communicate with each other. I didn't like the way Rob treated her. The initial situation from years ago seemed more like a combo of a misunderstanding and lack of communication. I am still not completely clear why Ally felt like she did regarding Rob, or why she did what she did. Why didn't she feel the same way about Jackson? She had no problem using him.
I also had questions about the BDSM aspect of the book. Was Rob the supposed Dom with Jackson and Ally being subs? Were Rob and Jackson both Dom's and Ally the sub? I am not sure why those aspects were even touched on.
There were a number of intimate scenes between the main characters. I only felt some type of emotion coming from Jackson. I felt no connection at all between Rob and Ally. I felt a pinch of sadness for Ally only because people were mean to her.
The "bad" guy in both the current and past situations was obvious.
This was an ok read. For whatever reason, it didn't flow smoothly for me. Other than Jackson and the details of the mystery, I didn't care much about anything else. I would recommend you read this and judge for yourself.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I love everything Kate Pearce writes. This is a re-release of a story she now has the rights back to and it's great to visit again. It's a coming home second chance story between three old friends who forgive old hurts and seek to find happiness together now that they've matured.
Ally Kendal has to come home to sell her deceased alcoholic mother's house. The town hates her so she's planning to leave quickly. Unfortunately she finds the house needs a lot of work so she'll have to stay longer than she'd hoped. Because it's a small town she quickly runs into her former fiancé Rob Ward, and the man she used for payback of his betrayal, Jackson Smith, now deputy. She's surprised to discover the attraction is still there for both men and they with her. Things move quickly between the three of them and old desire runs hot. There is also a mystery around her mother's death and an the death of Jackson's old high school girlfriend. Things get dangerous as they dig to find the truth surrounding the deaths and if they're related.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Running away from the past is never a good thing. It’s time to handle the errors of the past and move forward into the future. Three lives are about to change, but can they accept the life that fates holds for them or will they run again from the passion and the unknown?
Ally Kendal left Spring Falls over ten years ago and didn’t look back. But she seems destined to repeat the errors of her mother. Now it’s time for her to return home and make amends. With a town that would rather never hear her name or see her face again. People from small towns are slow on forgiveness, and fast to judge. Ally has a very long painful road ahead of her.
Rob Ward is the town’s revered son. Always coming out ahead in the choices he makes and appearing perfect to anyone who looks at him. But Rob has dark secrets too. While he may look ideal and genuine, he also has a dark desire. He is a dominate man who rules his life and his lovers. His strong hand and will ruined his future. But it has just showed up back in town. Now Rob is determined to fix the past, no matter what he has to do to do it.
Jackson Smith betrayed his best friend when he slept with his girlfriend Ally. After a stint in the military and recovering from his emotional wounds, he returns home. He repairs his relationship with Rob and tries to move on with his life. Unfortunately, he has secrets and desires that run deep and strong. It is time to take what he wants; nothing is going to stand in his way.
"Raw Desire" is a hot erotic read. Love and emotions also run high in this book. I enjoyed the story immensely. The three characters were deeply connected, yet worlds apart. I felt emotionally drawn to Ally. The lack of forgiveness from the town was horrible, but she held on strong and persevered. The true gems were the members of the community that were sympathetic and understanding. They empowered her to continue. The subplot of her mother’s reformation was a wonderful surprise and very endearing to me. It really started to show Ally that within herself she could find forgiveness and redemption. It was a wonderful touch.
Rob's journey was not as warm and appealing. He was a jerk at times but during the story you saw a spark of understanding with an undercurrent of self discovery. Jackson was a pure delight. He is a quiet soul with so much confusion and turmoil. All I wanted to do was wrap him up and cuddle with him. He was wise and I believe the true backbone of this ménage. With his quiet demeanor and reflection, he was able to see the pitfalls and gently nudge Ally and Ron in the right direction. A lot of the times they didn’t go willing or at all, but he was there to help them up when they fell. I loved Jackson!
Unfortunately, I knew who the villain of the book was right from the get go. There were no surprises. So the mystery portion of the story just didn’t do it for me, but the budding reconnection of this relationship was fun and extremely heated.
Now that it’s been stated how much I enjoyed the book, I’m disappointed in the misleading blurb from the cover. Short of the names and the general premise of the storyline it doesn’t hold true. I honestly don’t remember the wedding being brought up and while I hate to be a spoiler this is 100% a M/F/M book. There are three definite partners in this relationship (obviously from my mentioning it above). I personally enjoyed the ménage, but I just thought it needed to be stated since some readers may not enjoy those types of novels.
"Raw Desire" is a sensual delight for the senses. Definitely raw and rough; the sex will get you hot and bothered, while the romance will have you cheering and exasperated. This book is a steamy addition to my erotic romance collection that will keep me up at night and have me fanning myself from start to finish.
Okay let me put this out there, I had an unreasonable need to read this book. I mean it. I read an excerpt of it a couple years back, before it came out, and had wanted to pick it up when it came out at my local Borders (where I normally picked up my romance books, don't judge). Unfortunately I could not find it! And I couldn't find a reason to add it to my Amazon queue either (its pretty full). Finally I broke down and bought it on my Kindle.
So did it live up to my expectations?
Yes and no.
It was hot. Very very hot. Pearce has got sexy writing down pat. What I found wanting is everything else. The 'incident' that broke Ally and Rob up originally is given more vague explanations then concrete information. Basically Ally was found in bed with Jackson by Jackson's then girlfriend Susan and Rob. How she got there is up to debate, why she was there is up for debate, how Rob really felt about it is up for debate.
Then there's Rob entering the 'scene' (that is, the BDSM scene) in college. Its just tossed out there. Not how he got into it though. Basically he 'got into it really deep' and if I was understanding things right, he rushed home to his girlfriend to basically be like 'omg it all makes sense you are a sub I'm a dom and that means you HAVE to do what I say!', which freaked her out since um hey she has no idea what he's talking about and he really has no idea what he's talking about.
Apparently at some point in the ten years since he last saw Ally he found experience though, and decided it really wasn't for him after all. I don't even know.
There's Jackson, who I'm not even sure where to start with him. He claims to have coerced Ally into his bed when she was vulnerable. He claims to have always had physical feelings for Rob and Ally. And a whole bunch of other things.
The mystery subplot is weak--you can guess who it is a mile away and the fact Ally is constantly 'weirded out' by this person just cements the deal. Her need to resolve the lingering issues with her recently deceased mother are also apparently just kind of there.
Honestly I probably would have been happier thinking this was a Plot-What-Plot erotic novel because the plot was paint by the numbers, the romance was meh and the mystery even meh-er. The sexy scenes made it worth continuing however.
Ally: She’s twenty-eight or so. She has long dark hair and gray eyes. She’s a childhood friend of both Rob and Jackson and is a recovering drug addict.
Rob: He’s a thirty-year old sheriff. He has pale blue eyes and dark hair. He’s beyond alpha.
Jackson: He’s Rob’s roommate and fellow sheriff. He’s half American Indian and has dark hair, brown eyes.
This is one helluva sexual book. I lost count of how many sex scenes there were. RAW DESIRE is the most perfect title for it. This is the unconventional love story between three people: Ally, Rob and Jackson. They all were involved with each other as teenagers. Once Ally comes back to town, the sex begins. Rob is still attracted to her and he lets her know right away. She’s very passive and submissive to him. He tells her that he wants Jackson to join them always when they have sex and both she and Jackson want that too. There are sex scenes between Rob/Ally/Jackson, Ally/Rob, Ally/Jackson and my favorite of all, Rob/Jackson. The sex scenes are beyond graphic and intense and more that I ever could have hoped to read about. There's even double penetration.
As for the underlying plot, with someone out to get Ally, I was disappointed and thought the author could have been much more creative. I wasn’t surprised to learn who it was. I didn’t like Rob’s bitchy younger sister, Lauren, either and didn’t see the point of her character. I was real irritated at how Ally let her talk to her.
This book is a true scorcher and anyone who is into reading about graphic sex shouldn’t find one thing to complain about.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Kate Pearce definitely tantalizes the reader with her stand-alone novel “Raw Desire.” Ally Kendal has returned to her hometown to sell her deceased mother’s house then leave town again as soon as she can. Since the house needed a lot of work her plans to leave were quickly derailed. She meets up with ex-fiancé and current sheriff Rob Ward. Ten years after she left town her desire for the man hadn’t faded. Nor Rob’s for Ally. And then there is Jackson Smith, the man Rob caught Ally in bed with shortly before their wedding. These three definitely had a lot of issues to work through. There was also the death of Jackson’s girlfriend, Susan Evans, who was with Rob when Jackson and Ally were discovered. Rob has serious doubts her death was a suicide. Was Ally’s mother involved somehow? There is a lot packed into this story and it works. Rob and Ally fall back into a steamy erotic relationship. Ally and Jackson hook up. Rob gives into Jackson’s desires and they begin a scorching physical relationship. These three were destined to be together and they finally figured that out. Meanwhile rocks were flying through windows and Ally’s house was broken into, keeping us interested in the mystery surrounding Susan Evans and why Ally seems to be targeted. This is an mmf contemporary romance with lots of lust, scorching heat, and raw desire that is acted upon with gusto. However, these three well written written, interesting characters have to reconcile the past in order to have a future. There is also a mystery running through the storyline. As usual, Kate Pearce has done a great job pulling everything together for an interesting, multifaceted, well written story. Recommended for lovers of contemporary ménage romance.
This is like the written form of a cheap pornography flick - a paper thin plot with cardboard characters that's just an excuse to string together scene after scene of a threesome's body parts jamming into each other - two men and a woman in 4 different partner configurations. Because none of the people nor the cold murder case they try to solve between bouts of sexual gymnastics are involving, the whole exercise is sterile despite all the writhing and panting. This contemporary exchange of body liquids is disappointing from an author who has done far better in her historical romances. The "Simply" series is sexier and for believable characters whose erotic fascination with each other progresses from a rather sordid arrangement of pure sex to eventual love, a feisty pair who spark, there's none better than Pearce's "The Lord of Lost Causes", the first in a trilogy. In that book, the relationship comes across as real and therefore the erotic scenes are hot whereas in this one they're mechanical and dressed in a tale as skimpy as the MFC's outfits.
Different strokes for different folks so for those who prefer raw sex with minimal story to get in the way, this is the book for you. I don't think I'll try another one of Ms. Pearce's contemporary "romances" because I don't find voyeurism of three sex machines romantic or erotic and the plot is as risible as the stereotypical porn movie: "Oh, I can't pay for my pizza - whatever will I do?" except in this one it's: "Oh my high school ex who caught me in bed with his best friend, what will we all do ten years later to make it up to each other and Scooby Doo a cold murder case too"? (Those were some three-way apologies LOL).
Hmm. My first Kate Pearce and the first book I borrowed from a fellow Kindle user (thanks Bookie).
The sex was hot. No question, although I have read more detailed scenes in other books. I guess I didn't read enough of the reviews to realize that there was graphic m/m in it (although I saw it coming pretty early in) and that's not really my thing. If you like that, you will like that aspect of the book for sure. My favorite scene was the parking garage scene where he told the bystanders that she was pregnant and had morning sickness. AWESOME...I was laughing at that one.
The bdsm is VERY light...nothing intense really although it could have been made more so.
The plot was pretty good. The author spent a lot of time developing Ally's character and back story (although I would have really liked more of an explanation on what happened between them when they were eighteen to help explain the sexual vibe between them as adults) and the story surrounding Susan, Jackson, her mom, and Jane was very complex and interesting...more than usually surrounds a mystery in an erotica book.
I think what kept this from getting more than three stars for me was Rob. I liked Jackson's character a lot as he clearly was drawn to both Rob and Ally in and out of bed, but Rob...I don't know, he just really didn't show his emotional side until the end of the book and up until then it just seemed to be all about his work and fucking. And his sister...oy, what a bitch.
All in all, not a bad read, but I'm glad I borrowed it and didn't purchase it..I doubt I'd read it again. And the m/m scene....ew.

Kate Pearce brings us a steamy and sexy story about Ally's return to where she grew up and left in shame all those years ago. Because of her past actions, she must make amends when she returns. She must face the man she left but never forgot, and the man who helped betray the first. What happens when they meet to lay the past to rest? Will they be able to let go of the past and try to forge a new future? Will the past get in the way and keep them apart? Read to see what Ally, Rob, and Jackson do in order to get what they want and desire.
Kate Pearce brings us into a world where three may be better than two. Where friends and lovers unite and bring pleasure to all parties. Where love and forgiveness can dwell with desire and lust. When Ally returns, Rob is reminded of the betrayal of his fiancée and best friend. Jackson is reminded of what he did to his best friend. And Ally remembers what it was like to be desired and wanted by these two men. What happens when you embrace your desires and fantasies? Meanwhile, her return also reminds someone else about what could be discovered if certain people start digging through the past and finds out some truths buried in the past. Kate Pearce weaves a story of intrigue and mystery, desire and fantasy, all within a small town where the past is never truly forgotten.
I have read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank Kate Pearce for this privilege.
Kate Pearce has taken "HOT" to a whole new level with RAW DESIRE. From the first page to the last it is full of riveting, STEAMY sexual scenes intertwined with mystery and suspense.
Ally Kendall has returned to her hometown to sell her mother's house. Ally had left her hometown in disgrace years ago and knew she wouldn't have an easy time returning. Rob Ward, her old boyfriend, who she betrayed with his best friend are both in town and she runs into them frequently. The sexual tension between the three is extraordinary.
RAW DESIRE is infused with BDSM and Gay/Lesbian scenes that are sexually explicit. While this is not necessarily the type of book I normally read, I must say that I did enjoy the main story plot. It was strong and well written. The characters were three dimensional and easily believable.
If you are looking for a HOT read...this is one to grab.

Raw Desire is a re-release from the original in 2011. A brand new spicy cover but still all the heat. And this is definitely on fire. Sparks are flying between Ally and Rob from the time she gets back in town. But then the sparks are flying between Ally and Jackson, too. Could there also be sparks between Rob and Jackson?? Hoo boy. No wonder the pages burn up. I was fanning myself the whole time. But, there’s also someone in town who’s obviously trying to scare Ally into leaving. Not to mention the fact that there are a lot of people that hated her mother when Ally was growing and hated Ally for the reasons she left their small town. The culprit was a little too easy to spot but it was still interesting getting to the why of it. And we read it for the spiciness. It ended a little abruptly. I might have liked a little epilogue to know that everyone was getting a long and that Ally wasn’t such an outsider in her small town. I gave 4 stars.
Wow, get me my fan! This was a hot book and had lots of sex in it. This might be a spoiler, but there is light BDSM, and M/M action in this one, so take that into account when you read it. I really liked the characters, though, and have known enough addicts in my life to feel Kate Pearce nailed them pretty well. I like the interaction of all the characters and there was a pretty good murder mystery/suspense angle to this one, which intrigued me more than the sex. A bit of a sagging middle that made me skim, the story was solid and intriguing at the beginning and end, and I loved the resolution for the characters. If you like hot, three way sex and sex between male characters with a mystery to solve, this is a excellent read.
A contemporary romance that's thin on plot and more a showcase for a trio of friends who end up in a menage relationship. Contains mmf action. Rob, Ally and Jackson all have baggage, but ultimately their friendship-turned-menage romance was complicated due to immaturity and impulsive choices. Several aspects of their backgrounds were not explored as well as they could have been to bring more depth into their characters and make it a better story overall. Pearce usually does a much better job at writing heart-pounding descriptive sexual encounters, and although the sex was plentiful, the episodes fell way short of satisfying. A so-so read. 3 stars.
Ally comes back to her hometown after 10 years to discover that everything she believed happened the night she left might have been a lie! Rob never stopped loving Ally even if she destroyed his life and when she comes back he’s determined to make her stay. Add to the mix Jackson, Rob’s partner and the one Ally’s been discovered with that fateful night, and we have all the ingredients for an explosive reunion. But someone in town is not happy Ally’s back and soon all the clues lead to what happened that night of 10 years ago. This book has all my favorite things: thick mystery, raw emotions and a lot of steam.
This story was a hot read. Ally has come back to her hometown, in order to do up and sell her mother’s house. Her ex fiancé, Rob, is determined to make her stay. He is now the sheriff, and determined to find out what really happened on the night Ally left town; having been found with Rob’s best friend Jackson. There is someone out to get revenge on Ally, and it becomes fairly obvious who that is. This doesn’t detract from the story though. It is a book that gets to the bones of what happened a decade earlier, hard lessons in truth and trust and what happens to the three main characters. A scorching book by Kate Pearce at her very best.
This story is very hot and steamy second chance erotic romance between Rob, Ally, and Jackson. If you don't like MFM or MM then this is not the book for you. Ally ran away from Rob ten years ago, after he found her in bed with his best friend Jackson. Ally's back in town to pack up and sell her moms house after her death. She's not planning on staying but she gets mixed back up with Rob and Jackson as they try to get her to stay with them. Unfortunately it seems like there is someone who doesn’t want her to stay in town. I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.
This had a great steamy quality and I liked the story between Rob and Jackson. The mystery plot was interesting as well. The reason this has not gotten five stars (although the sex scenes are five star) is that Rob was just unlikable to me. I can love a dominant alpha male as much as the next girl, but he was pretty much an ass through 90% of the book and didn't have much in the way of redeeming qualities. It didn't ruin the book for me, just made it a little less than stellar. Would still recommend!
