When Deke and Gerry managed to find each other and love in a small, conservative, southern town, they thought they had won the greatest prize of all. Instead, they find themselves playing as a team in a game without rules, for the highest stakes. Must Gerry relinquish his dreams of rockstar gamer status, or can Deke break free of his straight-edged façade and reclaim his own dreams as well as support Gerry?
Follow Deke and Gerry as they play hard, whether in the games of love, cards or fighting killer zombies.

H.B. Kurtzwilde writes with an unique voice. I enjoyed 100% Completion. I will definitely read more of his work. When I was a subscriber to Torquere's Turn of The Screw I read some of The Legacy and the unique voice I found in that story carries through in 100% Completion. It is as if you open the door and step into a full fledged life in process. I was initially a bit lost but Deke and Gerry, their friends and situation quickly pulled me in. I wanted to learn more about Deke, an artist and his lover and partner Gerry, a game designer, who they were and what was happening in their life.
100% Completion is written in third person; Deke's POV and the story unfolds through Deke's eyes. Deke and Gerry are in an established relationship, so Deke's views of Gerry, show Gerry's actions, never revealing what he looks like. To Deke, Gerry's looks were unimportant. Deke already loved him, understood him and was happy with their life together, that was what mattered. Being tall and skinny was the only hint to Deke's looks, so I was able to picture Deke and Gerry any way I wanted too. That was fun.
Reading 100% Completion was a voyage of discovery. Picking up bits and pieces of their lives, their history and what was happening was almost like solving a puzzle, a game, and since Gerry and Deke were gamers, it fit really well. Since I am not a gamer and 100% Completion revolves around gaming; role play games, computer games and poker games, I discovered a new and interesting and world. HB did an excellent job of showing me this world. I did enjoy the ride.
I like books where the couple is established, their love is solid and the conflict comes from outside sources. I like learning new and interesting things. I like action, so chasing zombies with Gerry, Deke and their friends while gaming was fun. I do enjoy unique writing voices and voyages of discovery. If you like these things too, then definitely read 100% Completion.
100% Completion is about giving your all to the competition, whether it’s between Deke and Gerry, “survivors” against “hordes of the undead,” or Gerry against his gambling problem. Deke is a struggling artist who’s been working on interior design the last few years, but where his career currently lacks passion, his home life with Gerry is far from wanting. Gerry is a man of big ideas and dreams, and he recruits Deke to help make his latest quest -- a role-playing game about the zombie apocalypse -- a success.
What I liked best about 100% Completion is the way Deke and Gerry complement each other. Gerry is a man of big ideas, out-going and the leader of their group, while Deke is more introverted, willing to stay in his shell unless Gerry pulls him out. A large part of their dynamic, and the story itself, is what they’re willing to do for each other -- Deke is loyal to a fault, and Gerry wants to do whatever necessary to make Deke happy -- and the realization that doing what’s best for them isn’t always the easiest path.
From engrossing details on game play to scorching love-making, 100% Completion is wonderfully thought out with engaging secondary characters and a story line that will have you dying to find out what’s next!

Umm(dramatic pause)no. I read a lot of books so, sugar coating is not my thing. Let's be real. I am a gamer and I was still bored out of my mind. I gave this book a go because I crave books that have characters in an established relationship. It read like a night-time drama/script, which I won't fault, but personally dislike (way too much talking). Although I got to know Gerry and Deke, I never felt a connection. They called each other "dude" and "man" which made their relationship come off as a long-lasting teen experiment thing. I don't foresee reading anything else by this author in the future.
