The book did a great job of explaining Douglas's thoughts and feelings. His ideas on abolitionism, freedom, and slavery were very interesting. He also provide insight into what gives worth to people

The true theme of this book would be “ finding your worth” the true meaning of racial, and economic equality.

I liked this book a lot. The book had a lot of information and was a good read. Frederick Douglas writes in a higher intelligence level, but most readers should be able to understand. The facts in this book are cruel and some people may be upset by the stories he tells about the events, but overall was a very good book.
