Everyday childhood activities, such as an excursion to the park, splashing in the bathtub, or fixing a snack in the kitchen, can excite many questions in young children. Why is the sky blue? Why does my stomach g-r-r-owl? Why do cows moo? Curious kids want to know, and no adult has all the answers. The tenth anniversary edition of Why? provides child-friendly explanations for nearly 100 of these everyday mysteries for a whole new generation of children. Why? takes young readers inside the kitchen and out to the park, from the farm to the supermarket, and from bathtime to bedtime. Bright, playful illustrations by Scot Ritchie are the perfect complement, setting the scenes for the common questions that children ask.
This is a great book to use for speech-language therapy for students to learn about "Why", "How", and "Where" questions in a context that is educational, practical, and that depicts every day occurrences. Great illustrations too.
My five year old daughter and I read this book at night before bedtime. We really liked the interesting questions and answers and learned something new each night. My daughter says the artist is really good too!
Anyone who works with young children has probably heard the question "why" a few times. This book is written in Q&A style and answers questions over a variety of topics such as "Why does popcorn pop" or "Why do tulips close up at night?". Since it has such a variety of information, I think that students would really enjoy this book and it would be great to use during a transition time.
