It's a bit silly but also very cool at the same time. I mean what's not to like about coal & magic powered steampunk robots battling it out against each other and against monsters, beasts and nightmare creatures?
I played this game when I was young and now I have returned to it, imho the best edition (2nd), to play it with my son. And it's even better than I remember ;)

Very cool and very fun setting. The only reason I didn't rate it a full five stars was the rules layout, which could have been better, but luckily, the index is fantastic.

Positive: The setting of the Iron Kingdoms is fun and layered which leads to fun stories told around e table for both roleplaying groups and for the miniature wargammer. The rules are easy enough to pick up and the text definitely answers any questions you have about the rules present. In addition (as its somewhat expected) the book is loaded with amazing art and miniatures painted up. They provide inspiration as well as set a bar for the avid miniature painter.

Negative: The rules, while being well written, do seem to float around in the rules portion of the text, but that could have been worse. What the book should have provided (but the two-player introduction box set does) is a sample battle to read in detail so you could see how it all flows together.

Quirks: Did I mention the art? Oh that's right, I did, but it deserves repeating. IT'S AMAZING!

I read Mk1 when it dropped, but now that a friend or two and I are looking for a new mini game to invest some time into, I picked up and readMk2.

Great game, great fluff, and a very high quality production. Bravo Privateer! If you guys are looking for another writer to fluff up your future releases, drop me a line.

An excellent revision to an already very good table top war game. The art and presentation is superb throughout, and great effort has been made to make the rules clear, consistent, and without ambiguity ( always an issue with these games).

Probably the best of its kind available today.

The Iron Kingdoms setting draws me back again and again. With Colossals on the way and Wrath ending so fantastically (for my favourite Iosans), it was about time I updated myself on the rules and the streamlined story. Dragged back into waiting to know what happens next, but regretting nothing!

Awesome, aside from the way the rules were written. I felt there was too much repetition, the rules themselves could have been condensed. Minor quips, but I enjoyed the fluff and look forward to playtesting the system.
