Jim Burns is a youth expert with a Christian worldview. This book is written with the expectation that the reader is Christian, but does not push or even focus on Christianity. There is one chapter on spirituality, but it could be applied to any faith, and a few references to Christianity, but this is not a "how to get your teen to be a good Christian" manual. The majority of the book has to do with identifying what is normal teenage behavior, what to expect as you go through the teen years, what is healthy parental behavior, how parents can impact and influence their kids, and ideas on how to handle different circumstances and situations as they arise. He focuses quite a bit on the influence of media on our kids and how parents can buffer that. I have 2 teens and will have a third in a few years. For me, it was a good, solid, read. Good information that calls us, as parents, to stand up and be the parents are kids need and deserve. I learned a lot and I recommend it for anyone with teens or who will have teens.

I am full of flaws that really come out as I parent. I have made some mistakes, some small, some big. I am teachable and soft-hearted and am quick to ask forgiveness of my family when I have failed.I have the heart to change and grow and I am so grateful my kids love me. With that being said, we have appropriate boundaries for our teens for their protection and safe growing experiences. This book is helpful to grow my parenting skills - it is providing hope and empowerment that I am on the right path and educating me where I was naive. Also, Teenology is truly affirming--which then also provides a higher level of confidence. Many of the boundaries/guidelines we have in our home are discussed and it is so encouraging to find that what we practice and believe is presented in written form and taught and success in practice. Hallelujah! I am grateful for this book!

Very insightful book. Well researched and up to date with discussions on CURRENT issues (e.g. living in this world of technology, etc) that are affecting our teens. It is a MUST HAVE for any parent of a teen.

this has some good information, I had to put it down in favor of textbooks. while it was a good start, I think there is much more that wasn't touched on in this book. its good to pick up and put down when you need it.

Too many times he said... And there are great resources out there you should find. I'm reading this book to learn. If I wanted to look for other resources I wouldn't be reading this book.
