I fell in love with Inez Kelley's writing in Sweet as Sin and I was anxious to read another one of her books. It took some time, but I finally did - and I'm glad to say it was oh-so-good! :)

Bram Winters is an Emergency Communications Specialist and the nature of his job keeps him constantly on the road. He travels from town to town on request, evaluating an area’s geography and equipment to formulate a package of communication equipment needed and present his company’s expertise and price. As he finds himself alone in one of the many small-town motels of the country on the eve of the 4th of July, he decides to relax a little and join the town's festival. And that's when he sees her...

"Alone, in the middle of a small dance area, oblivious to the couples around her, a woman swayed. A punch of pure sexual longing knocked the breath from his chest. The tiny little dress in deep blood-red skimmed her thighs and clung to curves that made him salivate. Her shoulders and hips moved to the tune, her eyes closed, lost to the music's caress. A dewy glow turned her skin to gleaming gold in the summertime evening sun."

The sexual attraction between Bram and Lady, the mysterious woman who doesn't want to share her name, is instant and combustible, leading to a night of hot, unforgettable passion. But when Bram wakes up in the morning, she's gone - and he doesn't know how to find her because he still doesn't know her name... But their story isn't over yet, and fate makes their paths cross again five months later. Will Bram finally find out who she is and why she ran away from him all those months ago?

This was basically a sex-between-strangers kind of story and I'm not a big fan of that premise, but I think Ms. Kelley has done a great job setting up Bram and Lady's one-night stand. Their love scenes were scorching hot, but I believed that there was more to them than simple lust. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was love, but I did feel the emotional pull between them. Bram was one sexy hero, of course, and he seemed to really care for Lady.

Now, I was more skeptical about Lady's reason for acting the way she did. Not because it was silly or stupid, but because not all her actions were in sync with it. I "blame" the short length of this story for that, as that particular aspect needed more pages to be better developed. Its off-screen resolution is a case in point. I wanted to be shown what happened, not to be told.

I liked the way Lady's name was kept a mystery throughout the story. It gave a special meaning to her revelation at the end of the book and I swear, I smiled like a ninny when she shared her name with Bram. It was such a sweet moment! *sighs*

Overall, I really enjoyed this story, and I recommend it to everyone looking for a steamy read with a sexy hero, an engaging heroine, and yowza-worthy love scenes. Sometimes, that's all we need!

Memorable Scenes:
- On the dresser in the motelroom > Need I really say more?
- Scissor scene > Wow, just wow! I was holding my breath...

Quote - "Warning: Scorching sex, icy scissor play and an anonymous woman taking a wet slide down one hot ex-fireman's pole. Beware of hot flashes and spontaneous combustion."

Seriously! With a warning like this, how can I go wrong! After that warning I just had to read this book and not only because it's an Inez Kelley sexy contemporary, who has been known to get her fingers in my panties (Don’t ask! You don’t want to know LOL)

Bram Winters is an ex-firefighter turned Emergency Communications Specialist. I loved Bram. He’s straightforward, protective and sweet. He made me weak in the knees!

Bram finds out the heroine’s name at the very end of the book and as I enjoyed being in the dark about her name and finally discovering it together with Bram, which was a beautiful moment in the book, I am not revealing it here either. So, like Bram I’ll stick with Lady when referring to the heroine. Lady is down to earth, stubborn and pragmatic. I really liked her in the beginning when she was mysterious and I didn’t know too much about her but towards the end, when I got to know her a bit better, I liked her even more.

Understandably the story is told from Bram's perspective in the beginning. We get to know the nameless lady through Bram's eyes and POV and I was curious to see if we'd get a scene from her POV too later in the story. Funny thing was that as soon as I wrote the previous sentence I was treated to a scene told from Lady’s POV. Thank you Ms. Kelley for knowing exactly when to bring what’s needed to be brought.

I really felt sorry for Bram when they met by coincidence months after the one-night stand but having read the blurb I also understood why the nameless goddess did what she did. I did think the ending was a bit abruptly and for me the whole Jason storyline (stalking ex) could have been left out in favor of some more Bram and his lady but all in all once again I truly enjoyed this red-hot novella.

Inez Kelley sets the pages on fire with her erotic scenes. They are scorching and beautifully written, just the way I like them...There’s a scissor scene that’s just so hot, it has ruined the reality shows SHEAR GENIUS (about finding the best hairstylist) for me as I can’t watch the show now without thinking of Bram's talent with the scissor and mentally naming him sheer genius.

I've said it before and I'll say it again and I'll probably say it with every Inez Kelley book I'll read but her writing just mesmerizes me, sucks me in, takes hold of me and doesn't let go. I can't even find the right words to describe her writing and why I love it so much. She just never disappoints me with her erotic contemporaries.

I don’t have the time to do a separate Quotes-Post for LIPSTICK ON HIS COLLAR so I’ve included all the quotes I marked in this review. They were picked for several reasons. Some made me sigh with joy over Inez Kelley’s wonderful writing, some made me hot and bothered and one made me put the book down and laugh out loud before I could continue (Can you guess which one that was?). I hope you all enjoy them as much as I did…

Favorite Quotes:
She opened her eyes and her gaze landed on him like a brushfire. Hot met dry, and a spark flashed, exploded and raged through him. Intense and appreciative, unblinking and direct, she did not look away.

Temptation swept over him like a blistering tidal wave, stealing inside before he could think to shove it aside to break the powerful connection. He should. He would. In a minute.

Her kiss seared his bones. This was no gentle first kiss. It was a detonation of lust, yearning and passion like he'd never felt. Sexual combustion.

"What do you want, lady?"
"Cotton candy and night at the fair. After that, you, hard and fast...and more than once."

Wet kisses, heated by flesh and served with hunger became his new favorite food, and he gorged on her mouth until he grew lightheaded.

Jealousy scented the air with an acrid odor, like a candle snuffed out by a hidden breath.

Bram in the throes of orgasm was a luscious, intoxicating sound. God, he was delicious and she wanted more.

He oozed sex appeal like an over-wet sponge and she wanted to suck every drop. One damn inch was all she needed. She closed the gap. Lust exploded. Her ears popped with the force of the attraction, and a low sigh heated her mouth before he deepened the kiss to indecent levels.

Bram wasn't supposed to be anything more than a pit stop in her sex life to repair her bruised ego and help her get back on her dating feet.

Bram didn't talk dirty until he was excited and then he melted her bones with deliciously naughty words. A lusty memory swelled like an ocean wave, tinged with the brazen light of erotic play.

Bram gripped her braid and took her mouth again. The rich taste of her blended with the robust flavor of him, and she moaned. Being claimed had never branded so hot.

His frayed breath sailed over her damp nape followed by his tongue. Low, chanting naughty words, strings of murmured eroticisms without cohesion, whispered along her skin.

Jason took a step back and swallowed. He stared at her in horror. "What's gotten into you?"
"Gotten into me? Gotten into--? Okay, know what? F#ck you. No, on second thought, don't f#ck you because you suck in bed. You couldn't make a dog come with a leash and a Milk-Bone."

Ai, poor Yesmina: did you think you would read a low rated book and get amazed by how good it actually is?
Are on a crusade to avenge this book from the injustice of the GR ratings?
Next tame go and read about misunderstood grey heroes and tuck them in the bed of your heart instead of this cliché of a book.
The only thing this book did for me is reminding me that I run out of red lipstick. The stars are for that :*

Hot-Hot-Hot

A short, sensual read full of hot, smokin' sex with a to-die-for sexy hero, Briam Winters. If you're in the mood for heat, this is a good one!

There was an issue involved that I wished had been resolved differently, but it did not detract from the hot, sensual story.

Definitely will be reading more by this author.

This is A FLASH OF FICTION review. (brief spotlight review)

I Liked -- Plot: Bram and Lady come together in a sultry tangle of chemistry and desire on a hot summer night. It's just supposed to be a one-night stand. However, it's Bram who wants more, and when he encounters Lady again, he intends to keep her high on the fireworks that the two create, until he can convince her to stay with him. Whew, the best scene by far, was the one in Lady's laundromat, where Bram "distracts" her from her creepy ex lurking outside the building. The scene could have turned into a revenge scenario, where they "show" her ex exactly what they have together, but it's more about how they both lose themselves when they come together.

I Liked -- Character: Lady is an interesting character. I like that she admits her sexual feelings for Bram. Though he is hot under the collar for her, she is really the one that comes off as a sensual, confident character. She is the one that really saw their encounter as a hot, one-time coupling. And later, even though she is aware of the danger that her ex poses, she never comes off as meek or afraid.

My Rating: 13/15 Highly Recommend (4 stars)

Stuff I liked:

1- The fabulous and delicious cover of this book. I can spend ages just staring at that chiseled jaw and Bram’s oh-so luscious looking lips that can drive me to put lipstick on his collar any day! *wicked grin*

2- Inez Kelley’s brand of hot loving! My God, did the pages sizzle even with the first couple of paragraphs. I found myself holding my breath in and found myself going stir crazy at moments with the seduction that took place right from the very beginning. I definitely want more from where that came from!! ^_~

3- Bram Matthews Winters!! Can I order one for myself? Pretty please?? ^_^

4- Liked the subtle fireman lingo in this novel and how it was related to the combustive passion between Bram and Kyra.

Stuff I didn’t like so much:

1- Like many who reviewed this book, I have to agree that resolving the issue of the stalker ex-boyfriend part seemed a bit rushed in the end. Yes, he proves to be a creepy villain but I wanted the issue to be fully resolved with a neat little bow on it before the story was through!

This was my first read of Inez Kelley’s work and I can tell you that it will NOT be my last! This little novella packs a lot of scorching hot love scenes that had me needing to take a cold shower.

Bram is a man who is sexy, has morals, and doesn’t normally take chances. He is that man every girl dreams of coming across. One lucky woman happens to catch his eye, at a local fair in a town he is at for business, he just can’t resist. Their chemistry is hot from the moment their eyes meet and I loved how Kelley wrote them out to not just start having sex from the beginning, they actually worked up to that. The characters walked around the fair acting as if they are young lovers that just can’t get enough of each other and this helps you get a small connection with both characters. After they finally get back to the hotel room and have some hot lovin’ Bram wakes the next morning to find his lovely “goddess” gone with no word from her and no name.

A few months later Bram is on another business trip and must do laundry. When he gets there, lo and behold, his lovely goddess is there working. He can’t believe his eyes and is a bit irritated. Which of course, I don’t blame him one bit. She is having some sort of argument with a man and Bram senses trouble, being the respectable guy that he is he feels he needs to step in and help her out. You find out that it’s her ex boyfriend who just can’t seem to get it through his head that they are no longer dating and never will again. Sparks fly, yet again, between Bram and his goddess. You can’t help but want them to get together at the end because you can tell they are interested in more than just the sex…even though that is hot.

The only thing I didn’t really care for in the book was the lead ladies ex boyfriend. I guess I’m saying that in more than one way. He is a creepy obsessive guy who needs to take a hint and move on, but I’m also saying it because I felt like his part was just a little thrown in there. His part didn’t amount to too much since I think Bram would have talked to his “goddess” at the laundry mat without her being in trouble. It somewhat explains why she didn’t want to tell Bram her name and why she didn’t want a relationship since she has the crazy ex always bothering her…but still, she could have just had trust issues or something.

Other then the crazy boyfriend, I really enjoyed this novella and I know I will pick it up again sometime when I just need a fast and smutty read. I loved being in the thoughts of Bram, I enjoyed the sex scenes, I enjoyed not finding out our lead ladies name until the end (hence the reason I’m not telling you what it is), and I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a fast read, enjoys some hot sex scenes, likes Inez Kelley, enjoys contemporary romance or wants to see how they feel about any of the above things. The one great thing about novellas is they give you a chance to sample an author or a genre and see how you feel about them.

She wasn’t supposed to develop feelings for Bram. He was a one night stand. A declaration to herself. Her hot and sweaty late night encounter at a nearby fair was the best sex of her life. But just that. Sex. That’s all. She didn’t even give him her name.

Months later she still dreams about him. Still aches for his touch. And he just walked into her laundromat.

Bram tried to find his sexy “Lady” after their amazing night together. She had simply disappeared. The immediate connection he felt was hard to deny and he still thinks about her daily. On yet another traveling assignment with his job he has run out of clean clothes. Walking into the laundromat was the last place he expected to find his Lady.

With her ex-boyfriend stalking her, and her one night stand actually standing in front of her, Lady is overwhelmed. Bram is about to make her doubts vanish and show her that one night stands can most definitely be long-term.

Inez Kelley has a way with words that’s for sure. Lipstick On His Collar is a fast, easy read that has a good storyline as well as hot sexual situations. I enjoyed the interaction between Bram and Lady immensely and thought the chemistry between them was extremely well thought out and meshed thoroughly. I loved Lady’s secrecy withholding her name until the very last line.

I wasn’t sure of Bram at first. In theory I loved the fact that he never forgot about his one night stand but thought most guys wouldn’t care. but of course, romance readers unite in saying..that’s what I love about romance! Who cares if it’s far-fetched. Its romantic damnit and that’s why I love it. I mean what are the chances of actually running into your one night stand again…let alone 300 some miles away. What are the chances of that one night stand actually working?

The addition of the jealous ex-boyfriend was great. I do love the hero beating down on someone hurting his woman. Having said that I loved Lady’s response and attacking the jerk right back.

In short: great reading and I can’t wait to start my next Inez novella! I think the woman has a kinky fetish with laundromats. So if you ever see her in one…with her husband….well don’t come a knocking if the washing machine is rockin…

I give Lipstick On His Collar by Inez Kelley 3.50 stars!

3.5 stars. I really liked it…up until the end. It was way too abrupt and tied up too many loose ends at once. I wanted to see how things would work out from that point on. An epilogue would have really tied everything together. Also the heroine refuses to tell the hero her name

3.5 stars. I was hoping for a full book but really this was a novella. It deals with stalking and a couple related issues but the underlying story is of that first spark of attraction and what can happen if you fan that fire. I liked this story just fine but I think it ended a bit too abruptly. The assumption if a HEA is there but you don't know for sure.
