Een opsomming lemma's van zeer wisselende kwaliteit. Hoewel een interessant naslagwerk is het concept van extreem gestrucureerde overzichten per tijdvak in een repeterend patroon mislukt, het leest als een opsomming van matige wikipedialemma's, wat het in zekere zin ook is. Van een boek uitgegeven door de nationale bibliotheek van Nederland had ik meer verwacht. Twee sterren voor de informatie die het bevat, nul sturren voor de uitvoering.

The book provides a lot of information but lacks structure. It feels chaotic, with separate sections written by different people pieced together, resulting in confusion and repetition.

I am not sure taking the contents of the online version and putting them directly onto paper works very well. The book is slow to read, there are too many repetitions of the same information, there is basically very little flow or something, anything, to serve as a cohesive element. Also, since it could be assumed that the English version is intended for non-Dutch readers, it might be a good idea to supply some sort of historical data, elaborate at least a bit on certain important dates and historical events, because an outsider feels a bit lost sometimes.
