Considering it is an encyclopedia, it was a good read, taking one all the way through from the beginning into (somwhat sparsely though) the present. The "politically incorrect" language is a crack-up (and does get a bit old after a while), and of course, the author is anything but objective, leaving it rather clear, what he considers Jazz and what not. Still recommendable.
