"Mendele the book peddler"), born Sholem Yankev Abramovich (Yiddish: שלום יעקב אַבראַמאָװיטש‎, Russian: Соломон Моисеевич Абрамович – Solomon Moiseyevich Abramovich) or S. J. Abramowitch, was a Jewish author and one of the founders of modern Yiddish and Hebrew literature.
