Transforming the Crown is the catalog for a landmark exhibition organized by the Caribbean Cultural Center/African Diaspora Institute in New York City. The exhibition chronicles the aesthetic production of artists of African and Asian descent in the United Kingdom over the past three decades. Filled with illustrious reproductions of the art, Transforming the Crown documents the work of artists from various generations and cultural backgrounds who have transformed the art establishment in Britain. It boldly explores issues of race, gender, sexuality, and transnationalism, as well as identity and diaspora politics. It also looks at the role of U.S. culture and its influence on contemporary British art.

The catalog includes color reproductions of many of the works in the exhibition, selected artists' biographical and bibliographical information, and essays by prominent scholars and cultural critics from both Britain and the United States.
