I read this book and found it quite useful to know what to eat and what would be the natural way to fix ailment. What I liked about this book is that it presents different viewpoints to a disease: from the east and from the west as well as offers a combination of methods to cure: medicine, foods to eat, exercise to do, mediation if need be.
This is a great reference book I find myself referring to every time I encounter one of those pesky lifestyle-type simple ailments, particularly when I have a question I'm a little shy about asking someone. The volume is organized alphabetically by ailment, with another section on each system of the body. Each entry gives eastern and western, modern and ancient, traditional and natural approaches to the ailment, including dietary recommendations. There is also enough information to let you know when it may be time to seek a professional's advice. This book is very practical - there is nothing woo-woo about it. If you, like me, have had mixed or poor results with the typical over-the-counter remedies offered at the drug store, this book will give you some other options, and will help you make sense of the plethora of products at your local vitamin shop or natural foods store.
Very informative book! While it was published quite a few years ago, it still is very pertinent. I am hoping there will be another edition with updates on things such as coconut oil etc...I learned a lot perusing this book.
