Using this as a placeholder too for other Simpsons/Futurama comics I probably read. I read a LOT of the Groening comics, but it's been so long, and its hard to recall the stories since they blur together esp since I watched a lot of the shows. But this is the one I'm almost most certain of reading in my youth, and I think I recall enjoying it from my wiki searches. The "wall" one feels familiar too, and the cover esp so too.

Anyway, I mostly liked the comics and read a lot of them. I think they keep a good consistent tone and humor to the series, and I think they're faithful and fun, even if I burnt out/outgrew them a bit.

I also read some of the Simpsons Guide book thing and I think some other books related to Simpsons as well IIRC.

Kind of dumb, kind of bleh. Dumb bleh.

Merged review:

I am disappoint. I found this in a box with a handful of other Simpsons comics, and having revisited what I remember liking a lot as a kid, I am disappoint. Lisa's Adventure in Wonderland is the best in the collection, and has a great crossword puzzle in the middle of it. Wall or Nothing is a riff on a theme repeated many times in Simpsons lore - a wall built to separate two sides of something. This is the... first... time it happened? But then it's happened twice on the show and once more in the comics, to my memory. This time it's about water, not area codes. Yawn.

Tons of typos, too. Sentences butchered to fit in bubbles, too.

Most of the filler material is just filler material. Boring drivel. Some of Groening's anecdotes made me chuckle.

I got this online for $4. The only reason I picked it up is because it contains the first stories written by Gail Simone, one of my current favorite writers. Her stories are good, as are a few of the others. Some are not as great. This was my first experience reading Simpsons comics. I was pleased to see how well the humor translates into the medium. There was some stuff that made me chuckle, but it was nothing amazing.

I'm slowly building up my personal Simpsons library. The highlights of this tenth comics collection are Matt Groening's personal reminiscences, which are friendly, genuine, and especially welcome in a franchise that has so much outgrown its creator. Nah, those pale in comparison to "The Incredibly Stimulating Life of Sideshow Mel," reprinted here in its entirety.

I would recommend this book to any kid who loves the Simpson series and shows. This book is all over hilarious. I really like this book because it has many books within the book. It's also very entertaining and a great way to waste time. From "my butt kicking boots!" To many other ridiculous sayings but many characters!. I would rate this book a 9.5 out of 10!

I really liked the short stories in between the comics written by Matt about his life. The last comic about Lisa was my favourite because it used poetry, referred to Alice in Wonderland, and even incorporated a crossword puzzle.

This was mostly dumb. The stories were too long, too much Krusty and I hate Itchy & Scratchy. Bartman is always fun though.

When I am feeling bogged down by the weight of the world, I turn to humor. Harley Quinn. The Tick. Deadpool. Their insanity helps make my life more sane. And then there's The Simpsons. Sometimes you need the bizarre philosophies of Homer and Bart to help make sense of things.

This is an unusual collection of Simpsons Comics. It's not a reprint of full issues. Instead, it's a mix of never-before-reprinted tales and all-new comic book material. In this volume we've got a Lisa story of Wonderland proportions, Krusty takes an entourage to Hollywood, and Radioactive Man learns just what happens when you flush the toilet in a state of the art porta-potty.

Sprinkled throughout this edition are a number of essays by Simpsons creator Matt Groening. His advice to those wanting to be cartoonists should be required reading for all first year art students. His reflections on his early life shows the origins of many of the icons of Springfield. But his dictionary of favorite slang words was 4 pages of wasted space. So was his 2-pager about his first bully. I would have rather had more advice or inside scoops on the history of the TV show. If anything, I now want to read some of Groening's first comic strip, Life in Hell.

Considering that that series started in 1977, my birth year and FAVORITE year, how did I miss this!!!

I wasn't huge on the Lisa story which was surprising since I am a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland. Like I said, some of the essays were lame. So was that Sideshow Mel multi-parter! Plus, not being a direct reprint of the comics themselves and the very unusual pacing of all those verbose interludes made for an odd pacing.

Yes, this took away a lot of stress from a world full of coronavirus and done to death primaries. But it just wasn't my favorite of Simpsons books either.

This is more of a special edition from the Simpsons Comics collections. It has a nice collection of stories, with the focus on some different characters. I also really enjoyed the final Alice In Wonderland story with Lisa.
Between stories are some essays from Matt Groening about his childhood and becoming a comic creator.
This volume feels that little more personal and contains some higher-calibre stories.

The stories are pretty forgettable in this volume, but I'm glad I picked it up for Matt Groening's short essays on life, cartooning, and growing up in Portland, which are scattered throughout the book.

Similar to the Bart Simpson comics, these are acceptable but really basic and unfunny most of the time. Interesting scenario setups but they tend not to pay off...
