About the author

Matthew Abram Groening is an American cartoonist, television producer and writer from Portland, Oregon.

Groening is best known as the creator of The Simpsons. He is also the creator of Futurama and the author of the weekly comic strip Life in Hell. Groening distributed Life in Hell in the book corner of Licorice Pizza, a record store in which he worked.

He made his first professional cartoon sale to the avant-garde Wet magazine in 1978. The cartoon is still carried in 250 weekly newspapers.

This is a very good book. And for anyone who likes the Simpsons then they will love this comic book. And as well as I very much enjoy the superhero references, for example: The Incredible Hulk = The ingestible Bulk. Batman = Bartman. The Jokester = The Joker.

A fantastic, nostalgic read. The three-part event where the entire town gets superpowers as a result of a nuclear explosion was one I remembered loving as a kid, and though its writing is not as smart as the series, I had a good time. Takes advantage of the comic book structure to do something a little different very well.

Bartman was good for me, I was always interested in reading the Simpson, It was always my favourite tv show to watch since I was a kid. The book was more silly then serious because Bart failed his test. His parents were mad at him because they want Bart to succeed his History test.

Love this take on Bart Simpsons superhero alter ego: "Batman". Read these comics when I was younger, so I was excited to pick this up. Annoyingly, it doesn't have all the Batman comics and is missing 2 or 3. But, it contains the main issues and is an enjoyable book for Simpsons fans.

The first few issues were fun, but I really didn't enjoy the big Radioactive Man/Itch & Scratchy/Bartman

I had a whole bunch of these Simpsons Comics trade paperbacks when I was a kid. I got the first three of them while on holiday in Florida and was absolutely thrilled with them. After that, I got hold of them where I could and ended up with maybe 7 or 8 before I grew out of them. This was my favourite and I used to wonder why they hadn't made Bartman into more of a series.

I reread this recently and found that I'm really too old for this now, and the jokes are nowhere near up to the standard of even the worst episode of the TV show (a fact which I did notice at the time but cared less about). I'd probably give it 2-stars if I was basing it purely on that reading. However, I remember reading it again and again and always really enjoying it so I'll go with the nostalgia rating and allow it to represent The Simpsons comics as a whole, which I thoroughly enjoyed over and over again.
