Some people just seem to know they are meant to write, but it can still take a while to figure out exactly what their career will entail. Kate Douglas started out writing radio copy for a country western radio station in 1972, wrote and illustrated an educational cartoon strip for the American Mosquito Control Association for a number of years, was a newspaper reporter for a small town weekly where she covered everything from high school sports to drug busts, and then, in the mid-1980s, decided to write her first romance.

Many submissions and rejections followed.

In 1998, she sold to a small ebook publisher before anyone knew what an ebook was, but it wasn't until 2005, a full twenty years after finishing that first romance, that she signed with a New York publisher.

In January 2006, Kensington Publishing launched their Aphrodisia imprint of erotic romance with Kate's Wolf Tales, a sexy paranormal series about a lost race of shapeshifters. She went on to write 21 novels and novellas in that series, then wrote three other series for Kensington before moving to St. Martin's Press.

She has two series with SMP--The Intimate Relations series complete with three novels and one novella of romantic suspense set in California's wine country, and an erotic paranormal series, Feral Passions, set in California's Trinity Alps.

She is also continuing her Spirit Wild series, the sequel to Wolf Tales, independently.

Kate and her husband of over forty-five years have two adult children and six grandchildren. They live in the small town of Healdsburg, California, in the heart of the beautiful Sonoma County wine country.

Wow ! What an ending to a enjoyable series. The author did an amazing job ending her Wolf Tales series and we are going to miss so many of her amazing characters.

It's been sometime since I read anything from this author but, somehow I lost track of this book series and after reading this current book I need to revisit the series and start from the beginning again and finish up the books I missed as I forgot how much I enjoyed this series.
Although, when reading the ending of this story I pretty much new most of the characters that I had loved in the previous books in the series and it was nice to get reacquainted with them.

I always pick a favorite character in a story that I rave about but, this time around it was just to hard to just pick one so I am going to tell you all about the ones I loved the most.

Anton is the pack Alpha leader and just an amazing man who is filled with a abundance of love for all, caring, kind, smart, daring, sharp minded, sexy devious, an a planner but, most of all I loved the closeness and the amazing relationship he had with his his daughter Lily and his children. He melted my heart...I loved the amazing relationship he had with his wife Keisha and longtime lover Stephan.I loved how each and every night how he seeks out his pack mates and their children to make sure they were all safe and sound. If I wasn't a bit in love with him before I was totally in love with him when he took part in the birth of Liana and Adams third child being born.I was in total awe....

Adam & Logan just blew me away with their amazing healing abilities and what they can accomplish. They save lives of their pack mates, tried to heal a women who had been in a wheelchair their whole life as well as healing injured animals .All these men are affectionate, kind, loving, protective, sexual, caring and will do anything to protect their women and children above all else.Although, they a deadly as hell when the need arises.

Lily Antons daughter stole the show this time around.I loved this little girl from the onset of the story.Lily's abilities are astounding for just a little girl of six but when she sets out on a quest to save her people all on her own traveling between dimensions she just blew me away with her braveness and determination.I was on pins and needles just like her parents awaiting her return praying she was safe a sound. How could I not love her she was so sweet and a amazing little girl. This little girl made her fall in love with her character from the very first pages and she just broke my heart when she went missing. What a brave little girl she turned out to be!

I have to mention that these men of this pack would be lost without their women and their children.Their mates are their whole world. They make them the amazing men they are.Their women are strong, protective and as deadly as their men.I love these men and women and the love they had for everyone in their pack as it was so amazing to see as you actually feel the love they have for one another. You know in your heart they would give their life to protect and save one another.

We have to mention Sunny a new member to the pack who was lost to them and now saved.Sunny amazed me at every turn first for everything she had to overcome and accepted and grew in just a short amount of time adapting to her new life and surroundings.Overall though we loved all the characters with all of what they all have had to overcome as well as the capacity to love with their whole hearts and how each of them had some sort of amazing ability making them unique. And lets not forget the mind sharing which is totally awesome.

To sum up everything this story was an amazing read from cover to cover and once I started I could not put it down until I was finished with it.I loved how the author tied up any lose ends that we might of had on how the Chanku evolved over the years and how they originated and came to be.The story line was interesting and it had so many new things coming to light about their members and their children and as a race as a whole that just kept you glued to the pages to see what was going to happen next.

I have to say that we will be sorry to see these characters go but, that is what is so great about reading about them in books as you can revisit them anytime you want.We loved it !

I will be revisiting this series soon enough and catching up on a few stories we missed in this series.

Recommended real to all but , I would suggest you read the series in order though.

I voluntarily read an Advance Review Copy of this book through Netgalley.
This is one of the best series of books I have read in a long time. Douglas writes in a way that is intriguing and keeps your interest. I have followed this series and this book is as good as the first one I read. The story is of the Chanku clan of shapeshifter’s and there erotic/sexual interaction with each other. Each book usually centers on one set of mated individuals but because the group is made up very sexual individuals, there sexual relationships overlap with each other. The book is highly erotic and a great read. I would highly recommend this book and all of the others in this series.

*ARC from NetGalley for Honest Review*
I Give this book a 3 Star Rating.

I went into this book a little skeptical, I felt like this series had a big ‘winding down’ feel to it, repetitive scenes in previous books made me not really look forward to another one but I still end up reading them.
It’s well written, a definite realistic feel to the forest fires, all the characters were united and huge revelation, that was surprising.
Kinda Looking forward to more because it seems more...open now, to newer possibilities.
But since Wolf Tales is coming to a close, your really left wanting more.
A LOT of things were left unanswered or left you dumbstruck, the metaphorical door is slammed in your face.

Wolf Tales 12 is the conclusion of a wonderful saga. There are 12 full length novels and 9 short stories. It has been an epic journey and I feel sad but elated that the journey is complete.

Kate Douglas has led me on a sensual and beautiful voyage. I devoured the Wolf Tales books right from the get go. I would have to say I was lucky, because I came in the story late. Wolf Tales 11 was just coming out for release. I can’t imagine how hard it would have been to wait for each of the 20 stories after the first one was released. I delved right in the lives of the Chanku, a race of shape shifters. Enchanted by their love, loyalty and sexuality; Ms. Douglas took me to a place I have never been. She made me cry and shocked me; and I loved every moment of it.

Wolf Tales 12 takes place five years after #11. Change is in the air and after so many years of peaceful existence, the lives of the pack are going to be transformed into something no one ever expected.

Lily has always been a special child. Born to Anton and Keisha, the packs supreme alphas, Lily has always been a bit more. She is a precocious and brilliant child, an old soul at the age of six. Lily will usher the Chanku into a new existence.

The pack is planning to come together for a special occasion, the birth of a child. A time for celebration is marked with loss and fear of the unknown. Lily is on a quest to help her father and her pack. Her journey will bring everyone together like they have never been. Will the knowledge tear them apart or bring them together, stronger than ever?

This is a hard review to write. Wolf Tales 12 is not like the other novels in the series. You know the end is coming and you are hesitant for it to end. Ms. Douglas took me on a slow ride. She answered questions I didn’t even know I had. I was able to bury myself in the characters I have grown to know and love. The story was very well paced and the action didn’t take away from the plot. In fact, the story was like a cup of cocoa; hot, rich and oh so soothing. It hit the spot. I ended the story craving more but I was very satisfied.

Well done Kate Douglas on a book series that has been an utter joy to read and will have a permanent home in my collection.

What an electrifying end to the Wolf Tales series! Kate Douglas ended the series with one heck of a sendoff, there was lots of surprising twists with lots of adrenaline pumping anticipation and suspense building throughout the story which keeps readers on the edge while the fascinating characters continue to draw readers in.

There was lots of hot and super-hot sex as usual with the sexy Chanku as well as all kinds of emotional turmoil and sweet romance that keeps readers connected to their world. The story was wonderful in that the whole of the Chanku world was involved in the story which, to me, really keeps up the feeling that I have really gotten to know these characters and their world as the series progressed.

The Chanku face some tough circumstances and life-changing events that add lots of excitement to the story as well as making it unpredictable and ensures that readers can’t put the book down because they just have to know every last detail.

I know I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading it and while I hate that the series is ending, I also think that it’s an appropriate time and Kate Douglas did a stupendous job of bringing this era to a close. Of course, I already know that this isn’t the end of the Chanku as Kate Douglas already has several books out in her Spirit Wild series which is the second generation of her fascinating world.

The Chanku have exceptional strength, sensuality, and great survival instincts. They have been surviving far away from their true home in the mountains of Montana. Over the years, the search for mates has drawn packs together. They are only complete with one of their own kind.

Anton has learned even more about the past of the Chanku. He and Lily make an astonishing discovery. And the Chanku feel the pull to them as well. The time has come for all Chanku to come together as one. The future of them all depends on it.

Wolf Tales 12 by Kate Douglas is the twelfth book in the Wolf Tales series and my suggestion is not to start with this book. I did and found myself playing catch up for most of the book. This story really builds on the reader already having read the previous books. While a true lover of this series would love that, a reader like myself can get easily lost in a conclusion to a series like this. I found this book was pulling together lots of the other stories from the previous books. It is a critical book in how the Chanku are going to continue in this journey of progression.

There are really no primary couple characters but a blend of many faces. They were pretty easy to follow. But I had to get about halfway in to really get the jist of what I was reading. But I really feel those who have read this series are really waiting for this book to tie up some loose ends. So my advice is be a fan of this series before picking up this book and you will find yourself a very happy reader.

Absolutely excruciating and amazing... this was one of the best endings to a series that I have read. Bitter sweet and an absolutely enchanting. I will miss these characters being the main focus but look forward to the 2nd generation. Douglas has captured pure love and magic with a enormous dose a hot and sexy erotic tales in this series and am certain the next will deliver as well.

Fabulous Kate, thank you so much for the amazing journey.

Wolf Tales 12 Exposed is the 12th and final book in the incredible Wolf Tales series by bestselling author Kate Douglas. This has been an absolutely amazing erotic romance series that I'm sad to see end, but this was definitely a great ending to the series. Although I haven't had the opportunity to read all of the series yet, I have read several of these, and I would strongly suggest that you read the previous books prior to this one, preferably from the beginning, as it's much easier to understand and follow along with the storyline.

The Chanku are continuing to learn more about their history, learning more about how the current generation is being effected, as well as their unique abilities that were previously unknown. With the current changes, and the possibility of accidentally being exposed by one of the children, all of the Chanku decide that it would be safer if they were all together, and make plans to move to Montana with Anton and the rest of the Chanku. However, before they can all make this happen, another unexpected incident occurs leading to their exposure in a huge way.

With lots of love, passion, unbreakable bonds, erotic sexual encounters, humor, intense situations, tragedies, danger, suspense, and intriguing twists, this emotionally captivating story was the perfect ending to a fantastic series. The journey doesn't end here though, as Mrs. Douglas has continued with the next generation in her Spirit Wild series.

I have loved this series from the first book that I read, which unfortunately wasn't the first one in the series, but it hooked me on the incredible series. I'm looking forward to going back to the beginning to read the entire series in full, and then continuing with the Spirit Wild series. I would suggest that you start from the beginning if you haven't read any of these books. Be warned, this is a highly erotic romance series that consists of M/M, F/F, numerous other combinations, triads, and some BDSM. If this isn't something that you enjoy, this will not be a series for you. However, if you are looking for a highly erotic romance, this is one of the best that I have read.

I strongly recommend this book, series, and fantastic author.

Wolf Tales 12: Exposed is a breathtakingly explosive ending that serves to feed our imagination as to what is next for this incredible group of survivors who above all long to live their lives in peace. Following a few of the books in this fabulous series has made me thirst for more of the magnificent creativity and boundless imagination that flows throughout each page. They have blessed and challenged me to think beyond my individual box to try to see what might lay beyond. This last book has so many important messages if we will only open our eyes and our heart to them. I will miss these outstanding characters, but I know that saying goodbye will allow me to savor their journey and cherish each of them as they deserve.

I was utterly captivated as I watched in wonder and awe how things came together in this book. Burning questions were answered, an all-encompassing mission was given, and it felt like the last piece of the puzzle that unites their hearts as one was locked into place. I have loved every moment spent in this enthralling world with these marvelous characters. It truly couldn’t get any better! What I love the most is that they will forever live in my heart where I can remember as often as I would like.

Kate Douglas is truly a master of the written word. She knows how to touch each of her readers on a deep and very personal level. There is no hesitation when she reaches for your heart. She is all in and takes care to cherish and challenge us every step of the way. I look forward to each new story and world that she meticulously creates for my pleasure and entertainment.

Wow. The end of a series. Amazing! I think, in the original order of publication, I had gotten through WT5. I hadn’t met Adam yet, and keeping up with the novellas as well as the novels wasn’t as easy then. And the similarities in the titles, while useful for continuity can make one wonder - did I read this one already?

I’m not all caught up - still have to add WT6 and 6.5 to my read pile from need-to-read one, but the scope of Ms Douglas’ vision from the first appearance of Stefan, Oliver, Xandi and Anton to all the personalities of the twelve novels and nine novellas, is quite stunning. And consistent in her world building, thank goodness.

I really enjoyed this Chanku journey that I’ve undertaken these past few days. And there is a seven book series that looks at the older childrens’ lives...Spirit Wild, maybe?

I’m off to read Dark Wolf...

Kate Douglas has done it again. I seriously fell so in love with the characters in this book and to have them all together was the best ever. She makes you want to be part of the Chanku world. It's so sexy, real, exciting, and happy. I was able to completely bury myself into the lives of each character. The story line was so soothing and leaves you wanting more and more. I am a true fan of Kate Douglas and I truly give this book 100 stars. Well done Kate!!!!

I've read the whole series. The ONLY reason I did was because it's a good story. I would watch this as a movie or series too. But there were a few things that could have been better... 1. Entirely too much sex. Half of all the books were sex. 2. I liked that Black people were included... Didn't care for the treatment. 3. Didn't care for the ending. These books could have been half of the number without all the sex. But all in all.... A good series!

I am so happy to find these again.

I read the first novel back in 2013. I had no idea it was so, spicy. I found it in the library! I was up to # 9. I couldn’t remember the author or title to give to a friend recently. I googled Anton, Stephan, Montana and here I am.

This author is an excellent storyteller. The story flows with smooth dialogue and vivid imagery. I’m sorry to see the saga end. I’ll just have to reread them again.

Sorry to see it end! The Chanku have been through so much but remain deeply connected. What will happen when the world learns the truth about them. I was hooked from beginning to end. The story is fast-paced with lots of drama and emotion. This is a very steamy read with great characters and a wonderful story. I loved it!

I voluntarily read an advanced reviewers copy of this book

Overall this book was very good. The storyline was very strong and the hot moments extremely hawt. Kate Douglas did a great job keeping the heat and the romance going in not only this book but also the ones in the past. This book gave a great overview of each couple and where they are at in their lives.

I've been thinking for a while what exactly to write in order to make this a great review not only for Wolf Tales XII, but for the entire series. If for some reason this doesn't come out as the best review ever, it's fine, at least I tried. Mostly, what I really want to achieve here is for others to understand my love for this series, and of course I have to start thanking my dear friend Amanda (AGAIN!) for letting me borrow every single one of these books (THANK YOU AMANDA!) and trusting me to take good care of them.

Secondly, not as a shout out thank you, but I guess I have to give kudos to no other than one of the most HILARIOUS bloggers EVER: The Romance Man, who happens to be fan # 1 of Kate Douglas and included Wolf Tales as one of his favorite picks.

I can only imagine him reading these books.
In the beginning I had serious doubts about giving these books a chance and fought with my inner reading beast debating whether I should give it a try and go with my instinct or ignore it completely. I have to admit the first taste of Chanku was a LITTLE BIT overwhelming for my own book taste. I read it. It shocked me. I went for more.

If you have never read any of these books, a fair warning is to be completely and absolutely OPEN MINDED. You cannot, I repeat, CANNOT expect to dive into high tides without a proper training of each wave and trust me, the analogy is absolutely valid. Wolf Tales is a series for people with not only high expectations in romance / passion books; but also is a window to learning different aspects or well written erotic stories. It is a challenge for those who wish to maintain the illusion of a "chaste reader" but secretly seek more.

I know this because I was one of them.

Curiosity not always kills the cat, but rather awakens the wolf. And for the first time in my life I can admit it was a mind blowing experience, but don't expect angst and loss of hope and wrist cutting and tragedy. This is your average paranormal book with adventure, suspense, thrill, shapeshifters and lots and LOTS of SEX. Like EXTREME.

Now, don’t get me wrong. This is NOT written porn. PLEASE don't fall in the IGNORANCE of many people who keep calling this porn. This book is a MASTERPIECE. A complete and extraordinary tale of love and bonding. Of course as I mentioned before; it is kind of hard to get past through the first book without a little bit of shock. The key here is to let the second book trap you and keep giving the series a chance. By book # 5 you will not want to stop.
Each character is developed in a powerful way, capable of letting the reader understand in a deep yet very simple way the basics of each. At the same time, stories are intertwined in a matter that even the most complex love triangle (or menage) is understood in a very reader friendly way.

And the EROTIC PART doesn’t let ANYTHING left to the reader’s imagination. ANYTHING.

For somebody who blushes even when a deep throaty kiss is described with passion, this might be a deal breaker. I for one was really hesitant and even after reading reviews and getting comments about it, had to struggle a bit. But again, give the book the benefit of the doubt and you will get great results. And so I did. I DON’T REGRET IT. Not a single minute of my reading experience.

There is always going to be a taboo theme written or exposed somehow, but approaching it in such a tasteful and memorable way just makes the ride a lot more exciting. I confess that I would wake up just to read a few chapters and go to bed late at night doing the same. Mrs. Douglas KNOWS her business. She not only knows how to attract and captivate, she DELIVERS.

It’s hard for me to point out one book / short story in particular that I liked more than other since ALL of them are beyond extraordinaire; but if you make me pick, I will keep my heart on Wolf Tales I and make a special mention to Wolf Tales XII. Both tales are fascinating in such a matter that love, lust, passion, sadness, frustration, suspense and intrigue are all well sown in a such a brilliant plot it’s hard not to fall in love with it. Anton Cheval, my ultimate character, stole my heart since book one, kept it throughout all 12 Wolf Tales and 9 Sexy Beasts, and never gave it back.

So be it, I don’t want it back.

What I do want is MORE Chanku; and Mrs. Douglas heard my calling on time with her new series Dark Wolf, which I already started loving.

This is a great conclusion to a series that at times shocked me with its sexual fluidity. As usual with this series you get everything sexually along with the characters you have grown to love from the previous books as they embark on a new chapter of their existence with the outside world. If you have read and loved any of the other books in this series you will enjoy this one.

I was given an arc for my honest opinion.

This was an excellent way to end the series. Kate Douglas managed to give us timely updates on all the characters, introduce us to some new ones, throw a pretty gripping story line (or two) in there and give you the erotica you expect. I found this to probably be one of my favorites in the series. I actually surprised myself by being a little sad it was over. I have since discovered that this world continues in her next series, Spirit World, so I have started the first book in that one. So again this book will reunite you with all the characters from previous books and leave you content when it is all over.

WARNING: This story has plenty of graphic G/G and M/M sexual exploits as well as threesomes and foursomes. Occasionally there is borderline bestiality, which can be a bit much for some readers. In context it makes more sense, but the warning is necessary. There is nothing light about Kate Douglas' erotica, and nothing is left to the imagination. If this is what you are seeking then you have found an entertaining series.

I just finished reading this wonderful story. What was the supposed to be the final chapter, and in a way it was, of the Chanku, they are finally outed to the world at large when one member chooses to save the lives of many instead of keeping their secret in tact. We find out more of their history, and the legends are true. As the book ended I found myself wondering, what if? What if a group of people were to come out like in this story? Would the world be afraid or would we accept? I for one want to go and take a trip thru the wilds of Montana.

I'm really sad to see this series ending. I am glad to know there will be a new series with the next generation and am hoping we will get to see some of our favorites in those books. Loved how they were able to come out with their true nature to the world and how it all worked out. I would have like to have seen a little more into the future and things settled after the fire, but I'm sure we will see that with Lily's story. Can't wait!

Wolf Tales 12 concludes the erotic journey of the Chanku. In this final installment, the Chanku must all gather together in Montana after they have been exposed.
If you like the other books in the series, then you’ll love this story. It brings back some known characters and the story contains plenty of hot scenes while still maintaining a decent storyline. I recommend.

While this was an interesting story, it wasn't really to my taste. It is very explicit with several bisexual scenes. This is part of a series which I've never read before and I do not plan to read more. Aside from that, I didn't feel like it was very well written. The story almost seemed to be an afterthought with the sexual scenes as primary focus.

This book wasn't really about one character more like a group of stories within a story. I have never read Kate Douglas it was a quick and interesting read. She has created a great story here with interesting characters, I think I'm more conventional and enjoy following one set of characters with other's playing a small role it was almost too much! Be the judge yourself though. Interesting.

Great "tie up" of all the Chanku packs with an assumed HEA for their kind fitting into society once they are revealed. Felt that some of the mythology was rushed & pushed into the ending of the book... and especially the ending of the series.
