11 Reasons to appreciate this book:
Despite a 2006 publication and the fact that this book has no photographs (only illustrations), this book holds up and is still a great tool for parents/educators.
1) It features 40 specific crafts
2) It showcases Diversity beyond Christmas (including Chanukkah, Diwali, Kwanzaa, 3 Kings Day, Los Posados, St. Lucia, and the Chinese Lunar New Year.
3) It features picture book read alongs.
4) Each activity includes a simple or additional "waiting" game.
5) Each activity usually has another idea/craft/game with it.
6) Every activity has alternating "acts of kindness" and "tasty recipes" (snacks).
7) Almost every project features a kids' perspective of the idea showcased.
8) Each activity has a tiny history/cultural background.
9) Perfect use of S.T.E.M. (utilizes Science, Engineering, Math, Architecture)
10) It addresses safety concerns.
11) Finally, it gives a detail play by play on the difficulty level of each activity.
