A blond witness remembers a schoolgirl trick -- and makes use of it. A classic mystery by Sam Merwin, Jr., ripped from the pages of the Summer, 1949 issue of Mystery Book Magazine.
Samuel Kimball Merwin, Jr. was an American mystery fiction writer, editor and science fiction author, who published fiction mostly as Sam Merwin, Jr. His pseudonyms included Elizabeth Deare Bennett, Matt Lee, Jacques Jean Ferrat and Carter Sprague.
I liked it, but I also like the 1940s era, which is exactly how’s it reads with their slang and conversation. I rated it high because it was quick, to the point and wasn’t trying to be something it wasn’t. It’s a short crime drama with quick pacing and stereotypical characters.
Spoiler: The girl outwits the bad guys. There’s a twist! 😮
