The book wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be based on the title. It's more history of the gay and lesbian communities rather than modern trends, but the book is still informative and accessible to all readers of any age from middle school and up. As a history book, I think it introduces some important events in LGBT history that many kids today do not know about. And even the darker events are told in a positive manner that are hopeful in the end that I can imagine would only encourage LGBT youth.
As with the other book in the series that I read, I found the books and sites listed at the end of each chapter very useful, and I have quite the list growing for further research! I hope teens that read these books take the same thing out of them that I do and decide to do some research on their own.
