Very inclusive book for cuisines of all over the world. Lots of photographs for every dish. I like that the recipes are both in metric and imperial measures, standard cups and spoons.
The countries include: Africa China Japan Indonesia Thailand India Middle East Morocco Italy Spain France North America Cajun & Creole Caribbean Mexico
I make 3x/ 7-6 days (depending) meals for 5 ppl. We don't go out to eat unless it's a special treat so I try to learn different techniques and recipes. I have learned many throughout my years of being married. The best meal is one that all 5 of us enjoy without saying "yuck."
Some countries IDK if I'd honestly try given the use of spices I don't ever use or hard to find meats. Asian culture dishes are also hard to reproduce but I love eating them.
The book is step by step which I appreciate bc I get confused at recipe wording. Idk how true to culture it is but on that night when dinner is a confusing jumble of "Idk what to make tonight" I should give one a try.
Fina bilder och vettiga recept. Hade velat ha fler recept utanför de stora matnationerna. Tycker det är lite ojämt fördelat när t.ex. Spanien får lika många sidor som hela afrika.
A few years back my brother received the hardcover, massive food-photo version of this book. The photographs are as the subtitle suggests stunning, and even the mini version I bought on sale is enough to make my mouth water. This is only made better by the fact that the recipes are simply (yet brilliantly) organized + easy & detailed. A trip around the world with a flip of the page, or a opening of the fridge.
I love this cookbook for making restaurant favorites like green Thai curry, pineapple fried rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Szechuan chicken easy to do at home (and clearly adaptable to my vegetarian preferences). Two downsides: (1) the book displays metric measurements along with the English ones, and (2) now I'm having a lot of trouble justifying paying $14-$20 for one of these dishes at the restaurant when I know they cost about 4 bucks and 8 minutes to make.
Top notch, intermediate level recipes from ALL around the globe. Color pictures on each page demonstrating specific techniques from the recipe as well as a finished dish. Each recipe includes a brief statement of the dish's purpose, occasion to be served, or helpful hint to make the dish work. One of my ABSOLUTE FAVES!! Recommended with 2 thumbs up.
