This book was exactly what I was looking for. While I have successfully cared for a phalaenopsis for the past year, I recently acquired a vanda and a sophro-laelio-cattleya. My vanda was blooming when it arrived but within a few weeks it lost all of its flowers. I was alarmed and wanted an orchid book to teach me how to care for my new orchid varieties. This book has beautiful pictures, simple and concise directions, and a breakdown of the differences between each type of orchid. It is a very useful resource for anyone who wants to learn how to care for orchids.

Nice reference book, with cultivar-specific information. It's a good enough overview, but it's not, in my opinion, sufficient to explain orchid care in detail. I would say it's an alright book for people starting out and wanting to know some basics about orchid care before buying one. But you should definitely read some in-depth books if you want to be successful.

The book is filled with wonderful photos of orchids, but I think there is not enough info on how to take care of them.
