This is helpful, I don't know for beginners or not, but one can use it for foundation to build up from. Not everything here is explained as good but can be researched along the way.

God, I am feeling nostalgic...those were the days....the most formative years of my life....a place which we joined as boys, a place where we were taught, trained, kicked and moulded into Engineers.
We used to call this subject TOM (Theory of Machines)and this was a 2nd year subject of Mechanical Engineering..we were taught by Prof. R.P Arora...come to think of it we even had TOM-II and TOM-III during subsequent semesters.
Khurmi was a master and had written books on almost all the subject under the sun.
Once a BVMite is a BVMite forever :)

Theory of Machines is basically a science of Mechanisms and its Dynamics Analysis. this subject is divided in basically two parts first one is Kinematics of Machinery and Second one is Dynamics of Machinery. A Mechanical Designer need should have very strong command in whole subject.
