There really is nothing better than a good book and a big mug of tea on a rainy day, which is often needed when considering the wet weather in Wales. She is rarely found without a book of some description on her person and a notebook, she can always be seen scribbling and doodling while lost in thought about sometimes random nonsense or day dreaming about alternate worlds of fiction. Real life may not be much fun but the imagination allows infinite possibilities to be explored and lots of naughty fun too if you're up to the challenge. So in the words of a crazy scientist - I reject your reality and submit one of my own. Happy reading.

3.5 stars just because

This was a reread. This first book is a shorter affair, more of a prequel really to the rest of the series almost. So I like this series a lot - they feel and sound like young men in the throes of first love, the sex is super hot, the alpha possessivenes is totally awesome for me and I even enjoy the eventual storyline elements (not really evident in this episode, but the next book develops it rather more). I went straight on to reread book two Lynx in the Blood Pack Valley 2, I even marked it as currently reading, got a chapter in when I remembered why I'd not reread these two before and freshly reading book 3 - apparently Stalking Blood Pack Valley 3 has a mega cliffhanger ending. I'm not going there, I'm just not, so I moved it to my To Be Read (they should do a To Be ReRead shelf) until book 4 has at least got a publication date. Then I'll go there.

3.5 stars is probably closer to what I would have given it. It was cute and sweet but nothing ever really happened after Jay was rescued from the bear attack.

The word “mate” was over used it just got redundant and annoying. Other than that it was a good short story. Kind of ended when it felt like it was just beginning

I almost didn't finish book, it was so bad. The story went way too quickly. The characters were saying I love you immediately, the main character went from almost being raped to having sex a few hours later. I understand that it's just a story, but the way some authors just dismiss rape or being sexually abused as something you shrug off and just go on with your life is absolutely ridiculous. It's like they don't think it's a big deal. Plus, all the physical abuse this poor boy had been living with.... I don't like it. These are serious subjects and there are so many victims/survivors out there that it pisses me off that people can just throw these things in a story like it's no big deal.

I really enjoyed this one and got it all read in one sitting. It's just took bad the whole story took place over a short span of time when I would have liked maybe a little more history, maybe even a little confrontation with the abusive step-dad and seeing him put in his place. Otherwise this book ain't too shabby.

Short enjoyable story.

the two main characters were cute as and I loved the parents. I think the story had great potential but it was to short to really give an in depth look at issues.

A great afternoon read.

I was a bit worried when I read this: CONTENT CAUTION: Contains human sexual contact with shifter in animal form - but its nothing really so its safe to read :)

This one was okay, but I'm not sure I will be moving on. I wish more was explained to Jay about the shifter life before anything happened with Kyle. I wanted to hear more about Jay's background.

My questions will most likely be answered in the following books, but maybe in the future I'll read them. Not a priority right now.

I'll definitely be interested to read the next installment in this series, if only because this first story doesn't really offer much but a brief setup. There's very little here -- not much story at all.

Pretty typical shifter story with insta-love/mate plot. I think this would have been better if the author had set up the back story more. The story just sorta started and it felt like I missed the beginning.

It was pretty good for a first time. I think this is her first book.
It was a cute and sweet read, it started out really good, but ended too soon. Would have liked to seen them as a couple for a little longer.
Since it looks like a series, maybe we will see more of the town in the future.
on re-read, still like it but the words "mate" and 'my mate" were used a little too much for my taste over and over.

This was a nice easy read. I enjoyed the characters and how much they felt for each other. It wasn't a deep story although it hinted at more to come. I'd like to see where this is leading and look forward to the next story dealing with some of the issues left open.

I enjoyed this. It's a good setup for the series. It seems like I am saying this a lot here lately but I wanted more so therefore, I wish it was longer.

It wasn't a bad Reed but the list I found it on Goodreads mislabeled it.

Great story

The editing team/person didn’t catch everything. Also I felt the story was to short. The author could have done more with it. Just my view.

Heart Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥ 4 1/2 Hearts

I love Jay and Kyle. They are just perfect for each other. They have been best friends since childhood. Jay was even accepted into Kyle’s family. Until the day Jay finally pulled away completely thinking to protect Kyle and his parents from the horrors of his home life.

But neither man forgot each other. And on the day Jay needs him the most Kyle rescues Jay and takes him back home, forever. Well after Kyle explains everything to Jay. I must say Jay’s minds works in the best ways. His reactions to learning about shifters and mating is funny as hell.

Jay is just a cute, sassy, and sweet bundle. Kyle is strong, loyal, and damn sweet too. Jay let his stepfather ruin his personal view and worth, but Kyle helps him get it back. To Kyle, Jay is nothing less than perfect for him. To Jay, Kyle has been what he has always wanted and loved.

It may be short, but it gives the series a good base to start from. It brings the two main characters together and explains their backgrounds. It gives the reader a good feel for the type of men they are. But it also lets the reader know there is more to come and that Jay and Kyle are still growing into who they will be.

Great little read to open the series with.

I gave it three stars because I genuinely DID enjoy it, but there were a lot of things that didn't sit with me when it comes to this story. The love between the two main characters was very instant, and that sort of cheapened the entire story for me. After the two characters got together, things turned cheesy very fast, and it almost got hard to read because of how sugary and over-the-top it was.

I think the story held a lot of promise, which was ultimately lost halfway through. But as I said, I did like it. It was a light and easy read, and the author didn't bog down the story with too much detail. Though the characters were a little too much for me, they at least HAD character. And though this has nothing to do with the actual writing, the cover is absolutely gorgeous.

My biggest niggle with the story is how short it was. This easily could have been turned into a full-length novel if the author had just given it a little more time and energy. If this had been a longer story, the characters wouldn't have been as cheesy and the plot and romance could have flourished beautifully.

Not the best, nor the worst I've read by far. Sweet, but a little bland, mostly because, in general, I don't care for serials with a few exceptions. They need the strength, I find, of authors like Sean Michaels Jarheads and Fyn Alexanders Angel and the Assasin, and really, really strong stories. Though if I am completely honest these could be read as a series. They each have a beginning, middle and an end without loose ends, instead of chapters that just continue from one book to another. For myself, I consider a serial a consecutive set of stories, that focus on the same main characters in each book. If I had realized this was a serial, rather than a series, I would most likely have passed it by. On that note, I'll leave the full review for when I finish " Lynx in the Blood".

After reading some if the reviews i wasn't sure wether or not to start this book ! And i'm damn glad i did, Spoiler : Yes things do happen quickly, but they've known each other for years and wasted times plus its a serie wich means they will be other books on this couple so im totally fine with that. Sometimes when it takes to much time i just get bored wich didn't happen this time. Not everyone will agree with that it's just my opinion! I liked the way how things developped between Jay and Kyle gosh i fell in love with the two of them right away, i've started the second book and the story is indeed being developped and i can't wait to finish it so i can start the third book ! This story isnt too short or too long for me its perfect :)

This book was way too short. Things just progressed too quickly. This book had a tremendous amount of potential and an interesting plot that should have been fleshed out in about 250 pages, not 75. The last part of the book feels very rushed, it's like the explanation for everything gets crammed into the last few pages.

That being said, this is the first book by this author. I think both the series and the author have a lot of potential that's not realized in this book. I'd like to see more and will read the next book when it comes out.

Oh, and I LOVE the cover!!! Nice to see a guy on the cover who doesn't look like a linebacker, but is still hot and sexy.

I was disappointed by this title. The idea seemed good; a town run by an alpha shifter family, childhood best friends that grew apart because of abuse on the side of one of them, a secret agreement made by the main character's deceased mother, etc. The storyline, when outlined, sounds original and interesting but too many things were highly glossed over and situations that should've evoked emotion just came off as very flat.

Because its a short story (anything under 100 pgs is a short story to me) I think its not bad for a quick read if you don't have anything else on your immediate list.

This book was reviewed for Musings of a bookworm

I have 3 words to say about this book... OH... MY.... GOD!!!!! This book garbed me by the throat and kept my blood pumping to the very last page and left me begging.. yes begging for more. This is the start of a series and as of 22/June/2012 it is the only one published yet. I am waiting patiently, OK maybe not so patiently, for book 2. I predict that this series will be HUGE and because I am just bouncing up and down waiting for book 2 I will email the author and see if I can get us the skinny on book 2!!!!

Not a whole lot to say about this one, unfortunately.

It had a lot of potential and I quite liked the two main characters, but it seemed very rushed in parts and then all of a sudden it just sort of ended abruptly. To me, it felt like this was just the first part of a much larger story that was never finished/written.

It does say "Pack Valley #1", so if there's going to be a second book in the series, and it continues on where this one left off, I would probably revise my rating to 3 stars instead of just 2.

3.5 stars. This book is perfect for those that like a little action in the form of a fight, which Welsh opens with, but who can also appreciate the finer points of a possesive mate and the heat of a mating frenzy. Also a good read for those that like more than half of their stories to be about sex between the main characters, this book does lose a little bit of the heat due to the sheer cuteness of the two main characters :). I REALLY enjoyed this. From the author's hints on their facebook page this series might turn out to be one of my favourites and take some interesting turns. I liked how the author approached the previous abuse Jay had suffered at the hands of his stepfather as the character grew and learned to look past what he'd been told for year and see that he is worth loving. Overall this author looks very promising with this series. Far too short though! ;)

Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance®

Jaguar Mate is a light and fluffy start to what is promising to be a fairly serious series. Jay and Kyle are fated mates. Only Jay doesn't know that shifters exist. After being attacked by an old enemy Kyle and his family ride to his rescue... in Jaguar form. Secrets are revealed, and lots of sex is had.

Why, why couldn't it be longer and have more pages in it? T_T
It was a nice read with new world and characters. Of course being a short novella it could only revolve around main couple, but I still wish it gave the reader more insight into their relations, Kyle's family and the pack.
I enjoyed this story and can't wait for the next books.

simplistic plot; lack of structure; no building of the characters; immature writing style... had to wonder if any part the book was planned at all or if it was simply written in a weekend and published on the following monday. by an editor who didn't take the time to actually read it. did not finish.

This ebook is simply too short to like. The interaction between the jaguar and its mate is sweet. However it Is just too short to make this book even memorable. I even forgotten that Ive read this book before.

I would not recommend this book to others as it felt like being cheated at the end of the story and a total waste of time.

Kyle and Jay are mates who cant deny the hot attraction between them. In Kyle's bed is where they show each other just how much they are meant for each other it was so sweet i just wanted it to last forever. Although they may have to uncover what happened to the rest of their pack i hope they'll stay together forever.

Great start!

A great start to this series. Kyle and Jay were best friends and secretly loved each other. What Jay didn't know was that Kyle and his family were shifters. Jay gets attacked and is rescued by a black panther who is actually Kyle. What happens next is a mating, lots of questions and lots of love!

It stated off really strong and interesting and then kind of fizzled out. Shifter gone bad attack, an abusive stepfather and a former best friend as mate should have led to a riveting story, but mostly those things were left.hanging.
