Explains and provides examples on how to draw animation pictures, add colors to animation, draw actions, and make animations more interesting to viewers.
It was an interesting overview of animation in Japan, but if you're looking for a book to teach you animation, this isn't it. The sometimes stilted translation muddles the information that is there. Example:
"Sometimes no in-betweens are needed between key drawings. In-betweens can also be placed at almost equal intervals. These in-betweens will not be used if you are aiming for a realistic scene." (p. 121)
Huh? I've studied a little animation and I don't understand that sentence. How is a beginner going to get anything out of it?
So, yeah. Lots of general information and some pantyshots from the Moldiver Resource Collection. Nnh. For someone seriously looking to animate, I would pass this over in favor of "The Animator's Survival Kit" or "Character Animation Crash Course."
