This entire series is amazing! It is beautifully thought-out, funny, poignant, and somewhat moving. It's a far cry from any of your stereotypes of Japanese anime/manga. It tells of ancient Japanese culture, the modern Japanese, and begs for equality, mercy and enlightenment, while breaking into funny, loving, and occasionally tear-jerking moments. The characters are fairly well-rounded, and easy to bond with, along with being a fantsy-lover's dream. To read "Crescent Moon" is to be open-minded.

Mahiru has enemies now both among the Lunar Race and the humans. With the death of the Empress, the political situation has collapsed---and Mitsuru can't help but do his own thing whenever possible, which is ruining everyone's plans. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Nozomu has located the last remaining teardrop. Getting it, however, will be their biggest hurdle yet . . .

I found myself rather underwhelmed by how this ends. The story rushes from plot point to plot point in these last few chapters---from Misoka's aunt finally losing it and pushing to eliminate all humans, to Mitsuru kidnapping Shirogane and Mahiru away from the mess, to the final teardrop's hiding place. There's something like half a chapter buildup, then a confrontation, then everything gets resolved in a page, and we're on to the next thing. It feels kind of disjointed, like the pacing is off.

I'm also still not sure what actually HAPPENED at the end. There was a song, and then the tears reacted---it's unclear to me if the monster melted because of the magic or because the song somehow changed her mind. Because it kind of looked like it killed her, though some kind of past possession exerting present influence.

Overall, there are still some loose ends (Dawn's Venus and the messy relationships there being the most prominent), but this does wrap up the main story. And given the number of series I've read that were just cut off, I suppose having an actual ending is still something pretty good. If you've been reading this far you might as well finish. I rate this book Recommended.

This book was a great ending for a great series. I love all the characters except nozomu, who is shallow and a huge smoothie bomb. This review will have lots of spoilers, FYI. My fave characters in this series are mitsuru and Akita. I like them because they are like a unwilling team. Akira pesters mitsuru, mitsuru tries to kill Akira. It's a perfect chemistry. The only thing I didn't get was the big white floating dinosaur in the end. I mean, come on. It's a giant white floating dinosaur in the last panel!! Who wasn't confused by that!? If you can help me with my predicament, please respond to this comment.

WAHHHH the ending was so!!! I kind of saw the villain coming? but not in THAT way!

Mitsuru and Mahiru my heart. I knew it was coming, they've had romantic tension since volume 1, so while it did feel slightly sudden, it definitely made sense, and they're both impulsive enough to randomly kiss each other while getting chased down by guys who want to kill them lol.
Mitsuru!! He's by far the best written character in this series and I loved seeing him develop throughout each volume. He really comes into his own and, while he still has trouble fully understanding his emotions, he's accepting them and growing out of himself enough to understand that other people care about him and that's so exciting to see!!

Ending was so cute omg

It does feel a bit sudden, but for the space they had, I think the narrative works well. Again, my only real qualm with this series is that it didn't have more time and space to develop, but I have the feeling it just wouldn't get the volume count it needed, which is too bad! But I love this series for what it is, so it gets 5 stars from me anyways, even if it could've been more than what it was. It was so cute man I'm over here shaking and crying as they sing... I'm really excited to reread these in the future once I've let the characters settle into my subconscious a little <3

Ah what a wonderful end to the series. I can't remember if I ever read the whole series back in the day but if I didn't I'm glad I did now ^_^ It's a very delightful fantasy series.

Backed into a corner and forced to use desperate measures, Nozomu and Akira get Keiko to help them by acting as if she were kidnapped, and they send a ransom note to Hokuto telling him that if he doesn't meet them at a prearranged location with the Teardrop of the Moon that he has in his possession, they will kill Keiko. Meanwhile, at the Moon Palace, Mahiru and Mitsuru's deepest feelings for each other are finally revealed, but not all is safe and peaceful yet, because first they must rescue Misoka from the water dungeons before they can attempt to escape the Moon Palace's barrier. But that's not all, because Shirogane requests to accompany them against the suspiciously spiteful Masumi's wishes...

Okay. I gave in. This volume was just too good! I just had to give it the highest rating, can't you see?! So many wonderful things happened in this volume. Well, sort of wonderful. Very wonderful for the reader, hehe! Ahh, I can't hold it in.. MY OTP FINALLY GOT TOGETHER! EEEEEEEE!! Their love has got to be the most romantic and sweetest romance that I have ever seen, read of, or imagined. It's perfect! So perfect! And poor, sweet little Shirogane... I didn't like his character when he was first introduced, but I love him now! He is so strong.. and I guess he was the demon boy from a thousand years ago? D'aww! Because of the Princess and the demon boy from a thousand years ago, and Mahiru and Mitsuru, everyone has been saved and they can all live (and rest) happily now. This series flowed up to this point, perfectly, I see that now that it is finished and all is revealed. All of the strange things that I just thought was something weird and unique the author was doing all makes sense now. And it's all finished just as it should be, but... I want more! I fell in love with all of these characters and I want them to continue on to live, not only in our hearts. I want to read more about them! If anyone ever hears of any news about the Crescent Moon series, please, please, pretty please private message me or comment on my review about it. Please! >XI

This was a short-lived, but fun little adventure, involving supernatural creatures of the night (vampires, werewolves, demons, etc), but presented in a way that was strangely refreshing. Not necessarily original, but a breath of fresh air compared to the hundreds of vampiric modern-day lore that has been dominating YA shelves for the past decade or so...

Basically, what I'm trying to say is though, yes, there's a teen girl who gets involved with these "monsters" and helps to hide their identity/help save their species, yes, there's a handsome vampire, and yes, there is romance, it is NOT between the girl and the vampire. Not even close. Though Nozomu (vampire boy) is kind to Mahiru (human girl; protagonist), they don't even share romantic tension in the series. Which was SUCH A RELIEF, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. Instead, Mahiru is thrust at Mitsuru, a cynical and rude Tengu boy. Oddly enough, though I usually have a soft spot for the "bickering couple" trope (ie, Han x Leia, Ron x Hermione, Inuyasha x Kagome, etc), these two didn't cut it for me. But the series was only 6 volumes long and it didn't prolong any bullshit jealousy/drama plot lines.

Which brings me to the biggest strength of the series: the STORY and the CHARACTERS are focused on getting back the "teardrops of the moon," without many sidetracks, but all the while, still grow and build up one another. On the down side, it is rather rushed and not as fleshed out as it could have been, but it certainly did its best, given the shorter amount of volumes. Still, I enjoyed this, but it's not one I'd be itching to reread anytime soon. It's funny, cute, and adventurous, but not a fave. I give it a higher rating for good artwork and for at least keeping my interest.

Well, I'm not entirely sure what to say about the conclusion (?) of this series. I put a question mark there because at the end, Matsuda-san wrote "Thank you very much for sticking it out to the end of the first part of "Crescent Moon" so I guess there was more? But I can't find any info for a second part online, so not sure if it's actually the end.

Aaaaanyway.... the end seemed a bit rushed, like they had to throw in a whole bunch of stuff so it went kind of quick. I didn't entirely dislike it, and the part with Masumi at the end was pretty interest...but it was a little too easy to . The art also seemed to take a turn for the worst in this volume. What was up with Oboro? He looked really weird... switching between having no neck, crossed eyes, and overall looking like a blob. It was pretty bad. But, I digress. On the other hand, I felt it was a decent ending, and I felt it was appropriate for this series... so... as you can see, I have conflicting opinions on the matter.

All in all, I felt the same way with this volume that I've had for the whole series... it was alright. I didn't love it, didn't hate it. I enjoyed it mildly.
