The wedding feast is over and the bridegroom’s father is dancing the bhangra, but the groom himself is curiously reluctant to make his way to the bedroom. In fact, he’s so woefully inhibited by the proximity of his parents and his brother’s childish pranks that his beautiful virgin bride remains just that.
Nice little situational drama - moments of genuine lightness of touch from the author of ‘East is East’. Felt very natural in the dialogue - interesting back stories created for the characters and subtlety in the end. Didn’t read to me like it was playing to any particular stereotypes just a genuine window into a family scene. Fun Saturday morning read...
