I have the gray cover,80 pages,no index 1992 book Metallica A Visual Documentary, 1st edition Book,Metallica behind bars cover.very short book. I remember first getting almost right after its release at a then Spec's records which is all but extinct, fast forward several years my copy the one with the behind behind bars on the cover. I remember reading it alot as a pre-teen and teen and then having lost it,re-purchased it recently with the same cover. It's a nice trip down memory lane, early Metallica stuff that I grew up up until 1992 when its published and the Metallica Album. However with no index, and sometimes the snarky text could be irritating, the author laments the then selling out and other tabloid-style(the authors are British) reading,it's a very condense history almost like an uninformed Wikipedia bio or if some child had written it,it almost reads like a kid's book. Photo-wise pretty good, but written from an Englishman's perspective using the Yankee term over and over again.I still like owning it again, but as far as learning anything not much.
