La notte dei vampiri è il romanzo con cui viene inaugurato il Ciclo del Potere del sangue, attualmente composto da quattro libri, e incentrato sulla figura del vampiro.
Di questo romanzo sono state pubblicate varie edizioni, tutte da Newton Compton e, tra tutte queste, io possiedo, aihmè, quella con la copertina più brutta e che non c’azzecca nulla con quello che accade. Quella messa nelle edizioni più recenti è molto più bella e inerente alla trama e quasi mi mangio le mani per non aver aspettato a comprarlo.
Non riuscirei mai a classificare questo romanzo in quanto secondo me appartiene a una categoria a parte. Presenta elementi sia del romanzo horror che del paranormal romance ed è destinato a lettori rigorosamente adulti poiché le scene presentate dalla Kilpatrick sono molto forti e crude.
La scena è retta alla grande da un protagonista che, per me, è assolutamente spettacolare! Dico per me perché André è un personaggio controverso, complesso … che si ama o che si odia e io… bhè io lo amo alla follia. Certo, riconosco che sia un bastardo con la B maiuscola, che alla povera Carol gliene combina di tutti i colori e che in più punti della lettura viene voglia di prenderlo a sprangate in testa. Allo stesso tempo però è stato in grado di entrare nel mio cuore tanto da diventare, per me, uno dei vampiri più affascinanti della letteratura contemporanea, anche perché le sue azioni e il suo atteggiamento aggressivo hanno un significato e sono dovuti ad un qualcosa che lui ha subito nel passato. Credo che sia proprio grazie a questa figura che sono riuscita a capire perfettamente il terzo principio della termodinamica in base al quale: “Ad ogni azione corrisponde una reazione”
Carol, d’altro canto, pur subendo e sopportando di tutto da parte di Andrè, non riesco a vederla come una vittima anche se … certo, molte cose nei suoi confronti il bel vampiro poteva risparmiarsele ...
A prescindere comunque dalla coppia principale il libro è veramente molto bello. Belle descrizioni, bell’ambientazione, bella storia, scritta molto bene … insomma nessuna pecca.
Una delle peculiarità di questo romanzo, oltre ad un’atmosfera tipicamente gotica e il carattere prettamente dominante del protagonista è il rituale di trasformazione in vampiri. Esso infatti è caratterizzato da una serie di movimenti, gesti ed elementi che devono essere eseguiti nei minimi dettagli e con una precisione quasi maniacale e ogni passaggio acquista un significato ben preciso … Affascinante.

Let me just say that I am failing MISERABLY at this second installment of vampire month. I don't think I've had one good read so far. I've read a ton of vampire books over the years, so clearly I'm getting to the bottom of the barrel here. I need to reread some that I've enjoyed to put my faith back into bloodsuckers.
SPOILERS AHEAD
At first I thought I was going to like this. The book opens with Carol sitting alone in a crowded café. A man named André asks to sit down, but she refuses until he points out it's the only seat left in the whole place. Then she reluctantly agrees and proceeds to ignore him despite his attempts at conversation.
This was a great setup, as I believed Carol would be the type of heroine I hardly see anymore—one who refuses to put up with a douchey guy's crap just because he's handsome and rich. And she was, to a point.
The beginning of this book reminded me greatly of Consequences, and we shall speak no further of THAT book. But in this book Carol becomes André's captive for two weeks. During this time, they have sex and he beats her. His only redeeming quality is that he beats her once instead of multiple times. His preferred method of knocking her down is being a complete sarcastic jerk. He never says anything nice to Carol.
Well, to give a quick summary of the rest of the book: Carol leaves at the end of two weeks, discovers she's pregnant, doesn't want the baby, goes back to André and his semi-friendly vampire family, ends up being held captive again because they want the baby, tries to escape and is thwarted, has the baby, tries to escape again with the baby, is thwarted again, has her memories wiped out, has a nervous breakdown because she can't remember anything, goes back to the U.S. and gets therapy, recovers her memories for almost NINE YEARS, returns to Europe to track down her captors, finds them, meets her son, agrees to become a vampire, and becomes a vampire.
Phew.
Okay, so to Carol's credit, she tries to escape multiple times. It never does any good, but she tries. But she also exhibits the behavior of your typical captive heroine of today: she often finds herself with feelings toward her abusive captor. She also hates him, and with good cause, because he is a total JERK. His family sends her mixed signals about how to deal with him, all of which involve her needing to be more understanding of him. So basically she's at fault for failing to consider the needs of her abuser.
André had tried to turn two different women into vampires in the past, and failed both times (their fault, because THEY got scared and he couldn't help himself from turning into the monster they expected). I think this was why he acted like a man-baby with Carol—he was afraid of getting too close and losing her. At the end, after he turns her into a vampire, he basically says, "Just kidding! I was treating you badly this whole time because of my own issues. I love you and always have."
And she jumps ecstatically into his loving arms. THE END!!! Perseverance does pay off.
This book covers a large span of time, which I think worked to its detriment. There wasn't enough detail to bring feeling to many of the scenes, while in others there was too much description of things that didn't matter, so there were several boring sections. The "erotic" part was not nearly as scandalous as the synopsis would have one believe. The psychology of Carol and André wasn't as prevalent as I would have liked, and it got bizarre at the end, giving screen time to random unimportant characters. As a result, I didn't much enjoy this (in case that wasn't already obvious from my review).
So again, another failure for me. Someone give me some blood to revive this cold, dead heart.

I vampiri crudeli non si guardano indietro
Ultimamente, il livello eccessivamente zuccheroso di certi romanzi dedicati ai vampiri mi aveva fatto venire un po' di nausea. Per fortuna ho scoperto questa serie dove (quale audacia!) l'autrice non ha paura di tratteggiare un protagonista vampiro che uccide nel quotidiano e senza rimorsi, che non ha paura di mostrarsi ricoperto di sangue, che dorme veramente tutto il giorno su un letto di pietra, al buio e nella solitudine, pieno di contraddizioni crudeli e di una certa dose di follia e di disprezzo, e che ha avuto varie amanti, finite straziate nell'esatto momento in cui hanno avuto timore e lo hanno supplicato, risvegliando in lui la sua vera natura bestiale.
Finalmente un vampiro-vampiro, a cui gli occhi non diventano subito a cuoricino quando incontra l'umana ingenua e perduta. Lungi dal cercare una compagna di vita, Andrè vede in Carol semplicemente sangue (da bere) e carne (su cui sfogarsi), un'umana tra le tante, da usare, calpestare, abbandonare e dimenticare facilmente negli anni che scorrono per lui uguali e veloci.
Per questo ho trovato disperata e disperatamente bella la caccia di Carol ai vampiri, la sua lotta per superare la sua inferiorità umana e l'oblio a cui è stata condannata, la sua lotta per riprendersi il figlio che le è stato strappato.
Indubbiamente qua e là vi è qualche incongruenza logica e qualche dettaglio superfluo che va un po' scuotere la linearità della trama, ma è un romanzo che ti prende e si legge d'un fiato, sino a un finale (credo) volutamente sospeso e incompiuto, che ti lascia uno certo strascico di malinconia addosso...

Dear god, that was horrendous.
I don't remember where or when I bought this book (and, alas, it's two sequels) but I hope I didn't pay full price for them.
Here is the basic plot, taken from the hyperbolic back cover, purely because it deserves to be savoured in all its exclamation mark heavy glory:
Carol Robins ends up in Bordeaux. Her perfect marriage is in ruins and her self-confidence is at an all-time low so she tries to brush off the handsome stranger who joins her in the café. But this man Andre cannot simply be warned away. He follows her. He could be a rapist, a murderer! It's worst he's a vampire!
With her back literally to the wall, Carol tries to make a deal, a deal that will save her blood and her life. But she ends up with more than she bargains for. And soon Carol is forced to fight a nest of vampires for the only thing that has ever meant anything to her - the unique offspring of an unholy alliance between two species - one Living, the other Undead!
It is a life and death struggle for a woman alone, battling the devil incarnate for the soul of an innocent child!
(You cannot know how hard it was for me to write that without correcting all the grammatical mistakes.)
In case it's not clear, the 'deal' Carol makes is that she'll have sex willingly with Andre if he'll let her go unharmed after two weeks. She does this because he's a violent douchebag who'll rape and drain her otherwise. But oops, she gets pregnant, is forced to have the child which is taken by the vampires who use their mind-control powers to wipe her memory of the whole affair. After being in therapy for nine years she remembers and goes looking for her son because she has strong maternal instincts or Stockholm Syndrome or something.
I hated this book so much. I'm sick of supposedly romantic male heroes who aren't so much alpha males as complete and utter douchebags who are violent man-babies (Andre beats Carol with his belt at one point) that women have to 'fix' with their understanding and patience. I'm sick of this abuse being portrayed as romance - it isn't, it's abuse, plain and simple, and I'm sick of these men being let off because of their 'troubled background' - that's total BS, nothing gives you the right to treat people like a mental, emotional and occasionally physical punch bag.
Oh, and the laughably horrendous cover should be mentioned because of its awful awfulness - a woman running with a man who looks about as excited as a man waiting for a bus behind her. I'll try inserting a picture here:
If you like books where abuse is romanticised (*cough*50 Shades*cough*) and vampires, you may like this book. I have all three in the trilogy - if you're willing to cover the cost of the postage, I'll happily send them to you. Otherwise, avoid.

C’est avec réticence que j’ai entrepris la lecture de la série Le Pouvoir du Sang, de Nancy Kilpatrick. Réticence provoquée par le thème même de la série : des vampires, encore une fois. Après les romans d’Anne Rice, ceux de Stephenie Meyer et autres tentatives de "paranormale romance", je ne souhaitais pas me plonger dans une série de vampires... mais comme celle-ci est plus ancienne que les dernières séries vampiriques, je me suis laissé tenté.
J’ai donc été agréablement surpris de retrouver dans la traduction des œuvres de Kilpatrick une petite étincelle de je-ne-sais-quoi : l’intrigue, autant celle humaine que celle vampirique, ne manque pas d’intérêt. On retrouve des personnages attachants, qui vivent vraiment, qui campent bien leur personnalité, qui subissent des épreuves difficiles, mais qui s’en sortent toujours avec des blessures et des changements, contrairement aux héros de pacotille qui parsèment encore trop souvent les récits de vampires.
L’enfant de la nuit
Carole est en France pour des vacances et rencontre, un soir, André, un riche Français. Bientôt tenue prisonnière, Carole propose un marché à André, pour qu’il la laisse vivre : elle accepte ses mauvais traitements pendant deux semaines, en échange de quoi il la laissera vivre. Elle quitte donc, mais pour revenir presque immédiatement, enceinte du vampire. Alors, les vampires ne peuvent la laisser partir. Elle vit donc parmi eux, jusqu’à l’accouchement. Ne voulant pas leur laisser le bébé, Carole se sauve en emmenant l’enfant. Elle est bien sûr retrouvée, puis la mémoire lui est enlevée. Suivie maintenant par une psychiatre, elle tente de retrouver ses souvenirs, ce qui la ramènera à Bordeaux, puis en Autriche, puis à Montréal, où se sont établis les vampires avec son fils, le jeune Michel. Ils formeront enfin une famille, bien qu’hors de l’ordinaire : André le vampire, Michel l’enfant de la nuit et Carole, l’humaine.
Le livre est intéressant, surtout pour ses personnages. Carole est une femme déterminée, mais brisée par un mariage qui ne fonctionne pas. Puis elle découvre ce que sont vraiment les bas-fonds lorsqu’elle rencontre André le vampire, qui finit par lui enlever tout ce qu’elle est en lui effaçant la mémoire et en lui arrachant aussi le fruit de ses entrailles. Elle va même jusqu’à lui demander de lui enlever tout ce qui lui reste en faisant d’elle un être surnaturel comme eux tous. C’est ce changement dans l’état de Carole, qui sacrifie sa vie et tout ce qu’elle est pour être avec son fils qu’elle ne connaît pas, qui provoque l’intérêt pour le livre. De plus, la société individualiste des vampires, qui vivent ensemble de façon aléatoire, est bien dépeinte, ouvrant vers des personnages secondaires qui apportent de la profondeur au récit et qui seront au centre des autres volumes : Karl, Gerlinde, Julien, Chloé…

- lei ha appena divorziato da un bisessuale che si faceva cani e porci ed ha attaccato l'HIV a tutti.
- viene rapita da un tizio e viene violentata,frustata e usata come bambola gonfiabile dal suo rapitore.
- 15 giorni di "allegro soggiorno" e se ne va,ma dopo un pò scopre di essere incinta.
- torna da lui il quale, con la sua "famiglia", la obbliga a portare a termina la gravidanza che lei non vuole...ah si,e nel frattempo lui può sbattersela tutte le volte che vuole perchè lui è il maschio e lei essendo donna è solo una puttana...

...avete presente i riassunti stringatissimi sulla serie di Twilight "lei rimane incinta,diventa vampira e passano l'eternità insieme"? ...ci aggiungerei "lei viene brutalizzata ogni 4 righe e mezzo" e ci siamo. per me resta un libro che lascia molto (un bel po' a desiderare),ma per lo meno nelle battute finali, per quanto piatto-monotono-noioso sia l'insieme, non ci sono aggressioni sessuali o torture varie e considerando com'era all'inizio, prendiamola come una cosa positiva!

Excellent! A vampire love story based in the real world. A love that is first destructive and even demeaning. But then it turns and becomes something unexpected. I can understand why some find Kilpatrick's so controversial. she does not expound on what the classic vampire should or shouldn't be but neither does she say "it isn't" so. Erotic, emotion stiring to the point of sometimes being just a but disturbing. And although you find yourself often disliking the main character for putting herself in avoidable situations, as after her first encounter with the delectable, yet hateful Andre you're left thinking how dumb can you be to put yourself back in his clutches. Yet at the end you admire the main character's strength and persistance and it is apparent that she has been changing steadily throughout the story with even you, the reader, realizing it.
It's a story about love and how you past can not only colour but even destroy your future if not dealt with and also the promise of what can happen.

I found this book scary in many parts. And that is not really easy to get.
André's character it's very well built. He is a real vampire, scary, arrogant, wicked...
It's a complicated "love" between a vampire (A vampire I stress, is not like Edward Cullen, so you understand me...) and Carol, a human.
And it's addictive! I couldn't put it down.

Me pareció un libro aterrador en ciertas partes. Y eso no se consigue fácilmente en un libro.
El personaje de André me pareció muy bien construido. Un auténtico vampiro, aterrador, arrogante, malvado...
Es el "amor" complicado entre un vampiro (un vampiro que recalco, no es como el de Crepúsculo, para que me entendáis) y una humana.

Ok primeramente tengo que decir que este libro es genial la historia es genial, los personajes son geniales me encariñe muchísimo con los personajes sin duda los extrañare, la historia esta bien escrita no me decepcionó en ningun momento, es el tercer libro que leo que no me ha desepcionado creo que sera uno de mis favoritos de este año, amo a andre, esta historia es genial como lo dije, y lo recomiendo totalmente una historia muy diferente de vampiros :)

La prima parte è assai deludente, la protagonista è scialba e inconsistente e lo stile per nulla affascinante. Mi è sembrato anche che nella traduzione ci siano parecchi errori U.U
Però nell'ultima parte si riprende e la storia di per sè non è brutta. Julien e Jeanette mi hanno affascinato.
Continuo a sperare che continuando migliori, e probabilmente leggerò i seguiti.

This book was amazing! It touched on a bit of every emotional response. Andre, the dark, mysterious "vampire" and Carol, the determined woman to get through to him, are involved in a dance around each other. It was synchronized yet chaotic, and they seemed to finally make it work. I loved this book, and the emotions it carries!

It took me a while to get into it, at first Carol and Andre's relationship seemed a bit too aggressive and bordering on abusive, but once the reader was told more about Andre's past and gave him a bit more personality it made more sense and became enjoyable for me.

Una historia completamente innovadora y tan pero tan genial. Los vampiros no son exactamente mi zona de confort pero debo decir que este libro a hecho replantearme leer mas libros con este tipo de temática. Todo lo que pasa en este libro es muy, ¿como describirlo....? intrigante y para nada ilógico (cof, crepusculo, cof) y si, tiene unas cuantas partes eróticas pero debo decir que en ningún momento me desagradaron, excepto.... el principio del libro y por eso me refiero a cuando el protagonista masculino era un total y perfecto idiota y eso fue un punto malo del libro que no me permitió darle las 5 estrellas porque habían partes donde lo odiaba y otras donde lo compadecía. Todo lo que hace la protagonista femenina Carol es lo que yo hubiera hecho en su lugar (no como Bella de crepúsculo que inmediatamente decía: Muérdeme Edward, muérdeme, eso era ilógico, lo que alguien haría seria tratar de correr y escapar de el, no ofrecersele) y el libro se pone muchísimo mejor en la mitad porque...... (lean el libro). Es como si me resumieron los 4 libros de crepúsculo y le omitieran las partes tontas. Los personajes secundarios me encantan y aunque al principio no me agradaban mucho que digamos se fueron guardando un lugar en mi pequeño corazón :) Sin duda un GRAN libro que te encantara si eres fan de los vampiros y también de quienes no lo son.
PD: Lo siento si ofendí a alguien con mis comparaciones de crepúsculo y este libro pero este es un espacio donde digo MI opnion y lo que yo creo que me pareció el libro

I loved this book. Two words: Stockholm Syndrome.
I'm completely bewildered by this book. It was all over the place both plot wise and the writing style.
The protagonist was abused and raped multiple times and it wasn't delt with. It wasn't depicted as something bad but rather that the "man" couldn't control his nature and as if the act was "necessary".
What I'm even more surprised about is the fact that this book got a lot of 3, 4 and 5 stars. Like did we people read the same book here? Or do people still not understand consent?

Non avevo mai letto un romanzo fantasy così dark e angosciante: la trama mi ispirava parecchio ma le recensioni che avevo letto su questo libro, in cui veniva sottolineata con indignazione la brutalità di alcune scene e la morbosità del rapporto fra i due protagonisti, mi avevano fatto esitare prima di acquistarlo. Alla fine ho voluto leggerlo lo stesso, incuriosita proprio dal fatto che si trattasse di una lettura completamente diversa da tutte quelle fatte finora. Premetto che questo romanzo mi è piaciuto molto, ma ci tengo a fare una precisazione, trattandosi di un libro che tratta temi molto delicati in modo molto controverso.
Personalmente cerco sempre di mantenere separate realtà e finzione letteraria: situazioni e dinamiche che nella vita di tutti i giorni troverei inaccettabile, nei romanzi possono diventare materiale per una storia coinvolgente e accattivante. Ecco quindi perchè mi è piaciuto questo romanzo: è una storia diversa rispetto a ciò che avevo letto finora. "La notte dei vampiri" si presenta come un horror e, per quanto mi riguarda (non avevo mai letto un horror) mantiene le promesse del genere, trasmettendo inquietudine e suspence in ogni capitolo. E queste sensazioni vengono suscitate non da mostri deformi e misteri inspiegabili, ma dalla storia spaventosa vissuta dalla povera Carol e dal suo rapporto morboso con Andrè. Ho amato la scrittura della Kilpatrick, semplice e senza fronzoli, e anche il "ritmo narrativo", come lo chiamo io: la trama si sviluppa molto rapidamente, gli eventi si succedono con grande velocità e questo rende la storia ancora più avvincente e scorrevole. Carol e Andrè sono due protagonisti fuori dalle righe. Carol inizialmente è una donna sola e depressa, ma con una forza nascosta che le permette di non arrendersi mai e non smettere mai di lottare per ottenere ciò che vuole. Ho trovato tremendamente angosciante la storia che si è ritrovata a vivere, vittima di abusi di ogni tipo da parte dei vampiri, soprattutto non potevo fare a meno di sentirmi ansiosa e sconfortata quando, ogni volta che sembrava essersi liberata, puntualmente veniva catturata e imprigionata di nuovo in un vortice di violenza senza fine. Ho tifato per lei in ogni momento e mi sono affezionata un sacco al suo personaggio. I vampiri di questo romanzo sono veramente spaventosi, non per il fatto che si nutrono di sangue o per il loro aspetto, ma per la freddezza e la crudeltà con cui trattano gli umani, come se fossero degli esseri inferiori. Andrè è proprio così, violento, aggressivo e crudele, anche se nasconde un lato più dolce e amichevole che emerge solo in rarissime occasioni, soprattutto sul finale. Il modo in cui tratta Carol è veramente tremendo, la maltratta in ogni modo possibile, la incatena per giorni interi in un letto senza permetterle di muoversi neanche per andare in bagno, la frusta, la insulta, la costringe a vestirsi e pettinarsi come vuole lui, la umilia davanti ai suoi amici,bla costringe a nutrirsi delle stesse pietanze per mesi e mesi. Nella vita di tutti i giorni non augurerei neanche al mio peggior nemico di avere a che fare con una persona come Andrè, ma personalmente, come personaggio letterario, l'ho apprezzato proprio per la sua diversità rispetto ai canoni del protagonista maschile. Non è né il principe azzurro senza macchia né un bad boy dalla scorza rude ma con un cuore tenero, ma un uomo problematico che invece di affrontare le sue insicurezze, sfoga le sue frustrazioni su chiunque gli capiti a tiro, senza mai provare il benché minimo rimorso. Quelli che invece non ho proprio sopportato sono i vampiri della sua famiglia: se da un lato posso anche comprendere i motivi dietro ai comportamenti di Andrè, non riesco proprio ad accettare come i suoi amici/familiari, le donne in primis, non solo non facciano nulla per tentare almeno di tutelare un po' Carol, ma anzi vogliono convincerla che Andrè la ama, che è colpa sua se lui è violento con lei e che sta a lei imparare ad amarlo e a vivere con lui. Invece mi ha straziato tantissimo Renè, l'unica persona in tutta la storia che vuole veramente bene a Carol e cerca di proteggerla, facendo tra l'altro una fine tristissima.In generale il finale mi ha un pochino delusa, avrei sperato in qualcosa di meglio per Carol e Renè. Vorrei aggiungere altro, ma non posso farlo perché non voglio fare spoiler.
Concludo quindi dicendo che questo libro mi è piaciuto tantissimo, nonostante racconti senza dubbio una storia angosciante e morbosa, da non imitare nella vita reale. Consigliato a chi cerca una storia diversa dal solito, avvincente ed emozionante, ma che non ha paura di alcune scene un po' forti.

DNF after 70 pages. I understand that’s this was translated, but the misspellings got really distracting. That was the least of my problems with this book though. While the concept is really interesting and had a lot of potential, I felt that it wasn’t delivered well. It felt very bland, the characters were either cliché or surface.
While they have more information on the main character, I still don’t understand her reasons for the decisions that brought her to this point or why she does anything in the book. It does make you feel for some of the pain in the present, but I don’t have a deeper attachment to the character.
The vampire male is also super confusing. I think we were supposed to him him mysterious or want her to fix him but he’s just an abusive, narcissistic, rapist. I get that he is supposed to see people as objects, but they make him and his life seem boring honestly. Other than his family living in a luxurious castle, you know nothing about them. As they force horrid situations on this main character I didn’t feel much toward the other vampires. Yes, one tried to help her, but her motives as muddy.
I tried giving it a chance, but I just couldn’t push through after a while. I could tell it wasn’t going to get better. Somehow this is a series??

Nancy Kilpatrick is not a new author to me, I've previously read and loved her series Thrones of Blood set against a fictional world of humans and vampires. This book, Child of the Night, is the first book in a new series, Power of the Blood, set against our own modern day world and again pitting humans against vampires and broaching the strange connection between both.
In this one we have Carol the human, and Andre the vampire who meet in France when Carol is on an escape trip, running away from her failed marriage. Andre is immediately attracted to her and is amazed to realise it's not just for her life giving blood. Carol doesn't believe he's a vampire, thinking he's taking the goth type of lifestyle a bit far. Needless to say it's a very rocky relationship with a very unusual outcome.
I love how Nancy describes her characters, the interplay between the species is great and in this story having it played out in a world I know was a nice change after Thrones of Blood.
I love this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series. Please folks, read Nancy's other books, you deserve it.

I love how Nancy describes her characters, the interplay between the species is great and in this story having it played out in a world I know was a nice change after Thrones of Blood.
I love this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series. Please folks, read Nancy's other books, you deserve it.

Disfruté mucho de esta lectura, me fascinó, pese qué hay varios temas con los que no quedé muy convencida.
Empezando por el sadismo de André, que trato de justificarlo con la naturaleza de lo que realmente es: un vampiro, una bestia ¿no? Qué tal vez uno espera la clásica criatura romántica y caballerosa y no es así. Creo hay más que entender en este tema.
2. Voy a spoilear nuevamente. El tiempo que Carol pasó sin su hijo, en terapia, tanto dolor y tiempo, me pareció triste, supongo que para un vampiro el tiempo no es inconveniente, pero para un humano…ufff. Y
Luego todo lo que tuvo que hacer para encontrarlos, ay, bueno.
3. Me hubiese gustado el libro fuera mas extenso, mostrarán más de la historia de André, y de otros personajes como Morianna.
Pero bueno, reconozco que me atrapó, me provocó emociones placenteras y alegres (y por eso vale la pena, -PARA MÍ-), me encantó la pasión y el amor que me transmitió Kilpatrick.

I first read Child of the Night as a teenager, and at the time, it completely pulled me in. The dark atmosphere, the twisted romance, and the dangerous allure of vampires were everything I craved in a gothic read. Back then, it felt intense, edgy, and different, definitely a standout in my early reading life.
Revisiting it now, with more reading experience and perspective, I’d call it a solid but average entry in the vampire fiction genre. The story still has an intriguing setup and a brooding tone that fans of dark romance will enjoy. However, the writing and character depth don’t quite hold up to the more nuanced works I’ve encountered since.
That said, I have a soft spot for this book. It marked a phase in my reading journey and served as a gateway into more complex horror and vampire literature. For readers new to the genre or looking for an emotional vampire tale, it might still hit the right notes.

Ho trovato il libro molto noioso e mal scritto. La protagonista non ha nulla di interessante, se non la testardaggine, mentre il vampiro André non è in grado di dire qualcosa senza urlare. Ho trovato molto ripetitivi alcuni aspetti, come la protagonista che si accinge a ripetere che non crede nei vampiri e che la famiglia è solo composta da pazzi. Anche il comportamento di André è talmente ripetitivo e talvolta forzato che ho avuto difficoltà a leggere questo libro. Inoltre a volte si parla di punto di un comportamento diverso da parte di tale vampiro, quando un attimo prima gridava e minacciava la protagonista. Questi momenti sono persino riportati in un paio di righe, senza discorsi o approfondimenti, quindi sembrano poco realistici e azzeccati.
La trama è interessante, ma la storia e soprattutto i personaggi sono sviluppati male.

Mozziamoci pure il fiato!
All'inizio mi sono trovata un pò malmessa passando dalla Hamilton a questo ma...!!!
Dopo i primi momenti di incertezza e di shock che mi è preso, posso dire di esserne rimasta soddisfatta pienamente, sono rimasta compita dall'evoluzione della storia che non mi sarei mai aspettata.
Andrè è stupendo in tutta la sua effimera brutalità e lo squilibrio mentale che lo accompagna sensibilmente! E' MAGNIFICO in ogni sua azione e non ho mai provato un tale scombussolamento per un vamp che non sia stato JC che quasi mi sconvolge...spero che si cambi e si evolva ma no perda tutto il suo Furore.
