Two highly successful law firms are merging. One's in Texas, the other's in Chicago. Tate comes up with her boss to the windy city to assist with the merger. She's tough, she's strong, and she doesn't lose. Decker is looking to lighten his load and so the merger is the perfect solution. Getting his brothers on board is another story. He's not looking for any sort of distraction and yet Tate is a temptation he finds impossible to resist. These two were on attack-mode right from jump. The authors did an incredible job of capturing not only their different perspectives, but how their chemistry became almost a living, breathing entity. Both characters, in their own ways, tried (although not very hard) to keep things professional, but there was nothing professional in the way they dealt with each other. It was very easy to see how something illicit and intense would brew between them.

My only real hangup with this story was with how aggressive Tate came off. There were so many instances of her being insubordinate and nothing was really said or done to curtail her behavior. Merger and all, wasn't Decker her superior? She wasn't even a partner at her firm! I'm all for a woman who knows how to hang with the men and doesn't let misogyny get her down, but Tate went too far. A girl don't need no man and yet she was constantly imagining ways to be dominated by Decker. Ummm... what? I just didn't find her very attractive and despite how much I was supposed to be convinced that Decker found her qualities to be all that he was looking for in a woman, she came off as a bit too abrasive. Even during tender moments I didn't feel like she really softened.

In the end, my issues didn't really matter because I enjoyed the story overall. It was HOT! With a ton of flirtatious banter, innuendo, and one upmanship, Cocky Playboy turned out to be a sexy office romance not to be missed!

4.5 really close to 5 Cocky Sassy stars!! Well done!

Okay, here’s the thing, I reeeeeally liked this book. And for me, that was a big high. Why? Because one of the authors I had yet to read so yay, new author for me and the other had been a huge miss for me in the past so yay, a hit for an author that’s been a miss before!!! See, big high! :) But I have one issue I’m gonna tell you about (but I’ll hide it as a spoiler) before I tell you why it was so great ..

And now you know why the book was close to 5 stars but not quite #sorrynotreally

Okay, so the good stuff: I enjoyed reading the build-up of the story. The build-up of the why of things. As a reader, having that anticipation of what the heck is the missing piece of information, can be just a big a high as the anticipation of what will happen next between two people’s romance journey. You get both with this book. I can’t say another thing about that because it’s a spoiler, but I wanted you guys to know it was really well done.

Decker and Tate were both a force to be reckoned with individually and as a couple. It’s glorious to read two strong alpha characters in a story. Each gave as good as they got when it came to each other and that ending was swooooooooooon . The book made me happy you guys. Read it, maybe it will make you happy also :)

This was a treat really...

An "enemies-to-lovers-forbidden-office-romance" filled with steamy, sexy encounters with just a slight addition of mild angst, it's a light entertainment concluded with warm cup of sweet HEA.

4.5 stars!! awesome read! my first book from this duo (excellent job guys!!) and its so refreshing reading from male authors. this might be your typical office enemies-to-lovers romance but i love the chemistry between Tate and Decker!
theres a little surprise (or maybe not a pleasant one to me) somewhere in the middle but i felt that both authors handled it really well and made the situation rather likeable. highly recommended guys!

You know , I don't purposely search YA books just to give my harsh feedback. I really don't.

Honestly? I'm mostly searching for strong heroine books. I search, I find, I read, I review. I like strong heroines. I like watching the hero squirm sometimes too, no matter how evil, bad, hot whatever the case, they may be. I’m sick of weak heroines or heroines that drop everything over the hero’s dick. This is a constant in YA romance novels now. It’s boring. It’s repetitive and it’s OLD.

If the summary is going to indicate I'm about to read a story with a heroine who has a backbone, you bet your ass that's ALL I'm going to expect when I start that book. And when I get anything but that? I'm pissed.

So yes, I am pissed with this book.

If the summary is direct and honest and says hey! This heroine is a little bitch but look, it's a good story about A, B and C. Am I going to read that book then bitch about it later that the heroine was a little bitch? UM, NO. I know what I was doing when I started the damn novel and more importantly, what to expect more or less when it came to the MC(s). That's how this process works.

If you say it's an apple, I'm going to review how much of an apple it was.

If you say it's an orange, I'm going to review how much of an orange it was.

If you say it's an apple when acts, talks, walks, fucks like an orange, WE HAVE A PROBLEM

...

Sum Cap: Heroine is a hardass lawyer, hero is a hardass lawyer. They meet the first time and bump into each other for a cab (Cliché, but eh, wasn't too bad). Sparks fly, business gets rough, they don't like each other but want each other, they get into little spit spats here and there, end up bumping uglies, surprise towards the end about the hero, HEA, yeah.

Heroine: *Cracks knuckles* In our summary here, the heroine is "Tate Reynolds--the vixen in Versace. She's whip-smart, sassy, and gorgeous. Oh, and she doesn't take any of Decker's sh*t.
With the merger hanging in the balance, they go to war with each other. There's only one problem. This war isn't just about business."

Well, she is gorgeous and has killer style. Tight pencil skirts and killer heels? Yes please.
Everything else, she fucking annoyed me. She's hell bent on being a hardass lawyer, she doesn't take anyone’s shit, she's so strong, she's this, and she’s that, she LOVES her job.
YET? Here's what we get.
She bumps into hero at 2%, drops her shit, hero tries to help her, she snaps at him and he takes off in the cab that was supposedly hers. They exchange a few sentences to each other, none of them that polite, obviously.

By 4%, she's in her hotel room flicking her bean to this guy. She can't stop thinking about him, she wants him so badly she's blushing to herself and just a mess so she needs to have an orgasm after this interaction that was none too pleasant. His arrogance, self-absorbed arrogance, does things to her.

..Ok. I guess strong, independent women find that characteristic attractive. Don't know any of them, but okay.

Tate's boss, Weston, goes on and on how professional and hardass she is. HOWEVER. As soon as Decker walks back into her world, guess what she does? No, really, guess.
She becomes fluttered, shivers every fucking 2 seconds, can't think straight, can't hold her own around him, he's just too damn sexy and she needs to fuck him. She can shake the souls of the most powerful men in the state but Decker? Ohhhhh no, he is just TOO FULL of manly power for Tate.
So bye morals, goals and work ethic! Tate needs his dick first, she just can't focus on anything else. She's acting this way by 13%. He's talking to her in her office, NOTHING sexual, yet she feels he's being sexual and she can't stop squirming in her seat and getting flustered. Again.

So! By 14%, Tate has demonstrated she's a hardass only around ugly men. Hot men apparently make her weak, spineless, lose all concentration and focus anddddd the only thing she can think about is getting fucked. Very impressed here, Tate. To make matters worse, the more she gets involved with Decker, the more she shoves her loyalty to Weston (her boss) out of the fucking window, losing all focus on their plans for the merger, she puts pleasure before business and completely disregards her firms practices, because why? She can't help it, she can't stop fucking Decker.
Overall, as I said in my final note, Tate, to me, is: Immature, unprofessional, whiny, clingy, ignores her career for some dick, spineless when it comes to one guy.

& Decker? Playbloy, dating isn't his thing, SHOCKER. Teases Tate whenever he wants because he enjoys watching her get all heated. He and his brothers act like young douchebag college guys instead of grown ass men running a law firm. They're having an extremely critical meeting for a merger. He's in the meeting and decided not to tell his brothers about this (merging firms) plan. So they all end up arguing and fighting like children after he drops that ball of disaster DURING THE MEETING, IN FRONT OF THE OTHER FIRM THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE WITH.

I'm Black Sheep for a reason. I apparently walk left when everyone walks right when it comes to YA books. Not sorry. The story line had so much potential. This could've been a hit. These characters could've been so much better and exciting, even hilarious, but unfortunately, they all fell flat for me. I disliked every single character in this book.

Except Molly. Decker’s housekeeper. She made chicken parmesan with some salad and cheesy garlic bread for dinner which is seriously one of my favorite meals, LOL.

1 Star. DNF reading verbatim @ 40%, skimmed over several pages, chapters and what not from 40-80%.

Cocky Playboy was an enjoyable read. The banter between two formidable lawyers is quite entertaining. Decker and Tate can't stand one another, however, you'll be able to feel the sexual and emotional chemistry between them. Let me assure you, the sexy scene is hot as can be.

The collaboration between Alex Wolf and Sloane Howell is quite addicting. My second book from this duo and they never disappoint in writing good office romance trope. Great work guys!

This is the first book that I have read from this writing duo and I loved it. A great office enemies to lovers’ romance. Decker and Tate had a chemistry that was off the charts. I loved them together. Once I started this story, I sat and read it in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. Time to move on to book 2 and I can’t wait.

If you are looking for the following:
- Cocky alpha male hero
- Bold/smart heroine
- Inter-office romance
- Sexual tension out the wazoo
Look no further.

From the moment Tate Reynolds meets Decker Collins, she hate him and his brash/selfish attitude.  She also wants to jump his bones.  And the feeling is mutual.  While they both brush off the initial run-in, they quickly learn that won't be as easy as they expected, when they discover they are working on a critical merger together.

Despite their attraction to one another, which we discover from their dual POVs, they have some intense hostility towards each other in the workplace.  And I think of only one good way that can be resolved . . . time to lock the door and shut the blinds.

This author duo doesn't wait long to bring the heat into this story, and boy do they deliver.  You'd think the intensity between these two would die down once they work out the tension, but they both quickly discover their feeling are not minor, or temporary.  Decker does manage to nearly torpedo the relationship with his "secret" but I'm glad he came clean before it got ugly.

For as rude as Decker initially comes across in this book, nothing could be further from the truth when his secret is revealed.  This guy is actually perfect (to avoid spoilers, I won't reveal the reasons why, but I think it would have most women swooning).  And the authors layer in a big movie quality scene to seal the deal.

This was my first book from either of these authors and I enjoyed it.  Plenty of heat and a little sweet.

Ahhhh, who doesn't love a cocky a-hole (well, in their books, I am sure they would be quite unbearable IRL!!)

This dastardly due of Wolf and Sloane have given us one heck of a sexy office romance. I mean, they say fighting is foreplay - and our lovelies Decker and Tate do love to foreplay!

Now, Decker is one of "those" guys, that you can't help but hate (I may have been calling him "Dicker" in my head), however by the end of it, you just can't help but fall for him.

This collaboration is kind of a perfect merger - of authors and of characters.

I have not read any of Alex Wolf prior to this story, however I will be doing so in the future.

So when it comes out, buy this book, buy a ham and pineapple pizza <=== that was just for you, Sloane Howell, and enjoy a hot as f&*k office romance.

Ahhh I love me some cocky Alphaholes and decker, damn he gets me going.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book by Sloane Howell and this one just reminds me how much I love his books. I’ve never read an Alex Wolf book before (although I’m gonna look into that now) so having these two combined and writing together is brilliant, it works! It’s hot, sexy and so much fun.

Decker and Tate’s meeting was a fun one.

He’s arrogant, cocky and knows he can get whatever and whoever he wants but underneath all that there’s secrets. He’s the kind of Alphahole you can’t help but love

She’s all business and sassy and an absolute hoot. She stands for what’s right and won’t let any man or woman push her about. She’s the kind of girl you fall for because she’s simply just amazing.

Watching the two of them from the very first moment was scorching. The sexual chemistry was off the charts hot and had me fanning myself multiple times, damn.

Sloane and Alex put together a masterpiece for of us and damn, I’m really happy they did. It’s been an absolute honour meeting Tate and Decker.

I’ve been in a reading sump for a while now and this book just kicked it out of me. It was the perfect one to get me back into reading. I devoured it within hours.

Cocky Playboy is insanely sexy and incredible sweet office romance.

One of the best and hottest reads from this year.

5 Deliciously Wicked Sexy and HAWT Stars!!!!!!

Holy Wowza, I have been on a crappy reading streak for awhile and so as soon as I purchased this I said what the heck let's give it a go and OMFG I am SOOOOO Happy I did because it was absolutely PERFECT in EVERY Way.....Decker and Tate, my new fav couple, lololol!!!!!! These two were spot on perfect, they had sass, their bantering was hilarious, loved all their inner thoughts and the sexual chemistry......OFF OF THE FREAKING CHARTS!!!!!

The writing was spot on perfect, the storyline flowed brilliantly and seamlessly throughout! Now the mixture of hilarious bantering and the smoldering sparks that they had going right up until they finally combust together, beautifully and perfectly and yeah let's not forget the absolutely filthy dirty talking from BOTH of them.....it was steaming hot!

I loved that I was completely and utterly engrossed in the story from the very start until the very end. I loved that there was no unnecessary "drama" just for the sake of having it which could have ruined a perfect story.

I adored and FLOVED Decker and Tate and gosh I can't wait to read all of the stories in this promising new series and please, dear lord, let me get so much more of this perfect couple:)

Yep, I am grinning ear to ear......clapping hands and giddy with joy about this book!!!!!!!!!

Cocky Playboy lived up to it’s name. But Decker Collins is more Cocky and Arrogant than Playboy. Enter Tate Reynolds is brassy, take no nonsense and no prisoners type of lady. She is in Chicago making sure the transition between her firm and Decker’s firm goes without a hitch.

I would love to say Tate’s and Decker’s meet cute was flowery, but instead Decker knocks Tate on her ass, literally and figuratively. You are in for some fireworks and war of words between these two.

I love me some enemies-to-lovers/office romance troupes. Add a hot dude with a filthy mouth and a woman who can hold her own in and out the courtroom then I am sold.

Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf did a great job writing the dual POVs. Their attention to detail what a woman wants, emotions even attire was impressive. I have been a Sloane Howell fan for some time and although I never read an Alex Wolf book doesn’t mean I won’t.

Job well done gentlemen.

If you’re love cocky aholes and women will knock them down a peg but with some steamy sexy times, come release day, once click Cocky Playboy.

What I liked about the book was that it started off with a merger between two law firms in two different states. Tate is from the Dallas law firm and is in Chicago to make the merger transition go smoothly. What she didn't know was that the head of the law firm, Decker, is as much a control freak as she is and that the three brothers didn't know about the merger until she was there to start the job.
Although Tate and Decker, butt heads at work but when they attempt to meet over drinks to try to work out a way to ease the transition, they end up letting the sexual tension take over and end up in bed.
The angst, frustration, sexual tension of their work and personal lives these two make a great story together.
I enjoyed reading and really liked the characters. I hope the Collins brothers get their own stories also and especially with the tease of something ...

This book is a must read!! Fabulous characters, a storyline that anything but superficial and emotions that had me laughing out loud and ready to strangle the characters. Decker truly lives up his "cocky" persona, so much that there were a few times I wanted to slap him upside his head. Then add in sassy Tate who from the instant they met throws him one curve ball after another. Their hate/love give and take is epic and the end results you just have to read.

Is he a playboy? No, he’s cocky for sure.
Tate is such a badass. I loved her character. She was tough but she also managed being vulnerable without it seems like she’s trying too hard. This story is much more than a merger. Give it a read! I’m happy I stumbled upon this gem!

“What the hell is that sound? Is that an electric toothbrush?”
“It’s my vibrator. I’m not on company time. You don’t get me all worked up then bounce. I have needs.”
See, Tate is the best.

The Perfect Merger
Get ready for a sexy office romance between two shark lawyers. He wants to be the predator who gets her in his bed. She’s nobody’s prey.

She’s rushing to a meeting when she’s knocked sideways by some guy in a suit. Not only does he wreck her presentation but he steals her cab too. Jerk! That guy, the sexy one in the suit, she’ll probably never see again...

Decker is about to merge his law firm with another for his own personal reasons. He’s going to meet the other firms head council. Remember that woman whose cab he stole last night....she just walked in.

The perfect start for an enemies-to-lovers office romance that keeps things smokin’ hot! Decker is a businessman. He has plans and he doesn’t mix business with pleasure. Tate wants to make partner. She’s a hard worker and she can hold her own. Their attraction sizzles. But going all in could mean risking everything.

This story had it’s sweet and sexy moments. Decker transformed once he decided he was all in. The man who didn’t want a relationship, can’t imagine life without her. Tate never envisioned her own happily ever after, but sometimes you don’t recognize what you need until it knocks right into you. You’re going to love it!

What an intro to a new series by these two!

Cocky Playboy is the story of Decker and Tate.  Two high powered attorneys forced to work the big deal together.

I have to give props to these two gentlemen.  First off, the alternate POV's were phenomenal! I don't know who wrote which character but the flow of the story is seamless!

Second, the chemistry of this story is off the charts hot and boy the dirty talk was on point!

Next, let's talk about Tate, this woman is all sorts of fierce and she doesn't back down for anything! I like her take charge attitude and I applaud the way the softness of her character showed at the end.

Decker, wowza what an alpha!  He is the king of compartmentalizing! But when things start blending, he rises to the challenge and brings the sweetness with the bossiness!

I am looking forward to the next stories in this series!! Get your hands on this!

Two top lawyers trying to work together for the first time when they’re continuously are at each other’s throats can only turn out one way, an the charts steamy office romance. Decker knows what he wants and exactly what needs to happen in order to win, Tate is a strong confident woman that will not back down when she believes in a purpose. The chemistry between these two is hot and will have you hooked and cheering them on throughout. I was completely thrown for a loop when Decker reveals his deep and private story with Tate. Having the POV from both main characters continuously kept the storyline strong and flowing smoothly. Having these two authors collaborate together was great, I’ve read their work individually and together they bring even more to the book. Towards the end I didn’t know what was going to happen and I was on the edge gripping my kindle tight. This is a must read and highly recommended.

Cocky Playboy is a sexy, enemies-to-lovers office romance. This story starts off with a run-in that only adds fuel to the flames. The chemistry between our hero and heroine is off the charts but what I loved best is that this Cocky Playboy, Decker Collins, wants to spend more time with his loved one. He doesn't want to miss out because he has to work 70 + hours a week. He's found a way to keep his company and family from drowning in work by negotiating a merger. The best lawyer for the job, Tate Reynolds, is brought in to assist with the merger and she's a real ball buster. Tate is so exactly what this cocky playboy needs. The authors write well together. I hope there is more to come. 4 Stars

WOW! So these 2, Alex and Sloane teaming up to write a steamy HOTT book is the best thing since well sliced bread! Their writing is addicting, I couldn't get enough of this book. I started it again during my break today because it was just THAT DAMN GOOD! I hope and pray that they continue and write some more together specifically Donovan's book, I have a feeling he's going to give us a run for our money. The ending was phenomenal, had no clue and shockingly I CRIED at the end. Such a great book!! Wish I could give ya's more than 5 stars!

Maybe I’m in a book slump.

I don’t get the wow reviews. Office romance that goes nowhere.

The start of this book promised to be the start of a great romance, unfortunately the rest of the book lacked everything to get the reader there. No character development, no connection or pull to love these characters.
There was nothing that said this is what you need.

Decker wasn’t swoon worthy at all. I couldn’t stand Tate.

Nothing much more to say. But this one wasn’t my jam unfortunately!

Amazing! I love this book. In the beginning I didn’t like Decker at all. By the end I loved his character. Tate is a senior partner and she knows what she has to do to make her way in her profession. Together they are hot! But can jealousy ruin everything they think they have? You just need to read this amazing story to know how everything goes. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!

I need a moment before I start ranting.

description

So this book is about Tate and Decker. Tate is in Chicago to oversee a merger happening between her company with another. While in a rush for the meeting she bumps into someone and its lust at first sight.
The next day she gets to meet the company she is merging with and surprise surprise it's the same sexy guy whose voice was so deep omg she bumped into.

Now it's not just her it's also Decker who has insta lust for her but he has a rule he does not mix business with pleasure, hmmm heard that one before let’s see how long this one last.

description

In 3 weeks between almost kissing twice and an almost blowjob they finally do the deed. As soon as they are done there is a knock at the door, Decker opens the door and in comes a woman. Instead of explaining to Tate who he literally had sex with a minute back he just tells her I’ll explain everything later and slams the door on her face. Yes, babe you just got dismissed.

Then she goes to a “friend” and tells said friend about everything (by this time she knows he has a kid, she just does not know if the woman is his wife or girlfriend) and said friend is like “Maybe you should give him a chance to explain. At least five minutes. Maybe it’s just a misunderstanding, and your feelings and everything that’s going on are amplifying it into a bigger issue than it is.”
Oh, I’m sorry slamming the door on someone’s face can be a misunderstanding. Cool.cool.

description

Anyway she lets him give his explanation, she meets the daughter and everyone is happy and then the mother shows us, breaking the “never come near my daughter and my house clause”. You know what? Just read their conversation just read it yourself and tell me what you think.

This is Decker and the baby mama.

“I snort. Monica’s only out for number one. “I guess we’re moving on to manipulation tactic number two, where you pretend you care about us now. Look, you’re the woman who gave birth to Jenny. Nothing more. So, don’t come here acting all righteous like you’ve ever given a damn about her or me.”

“We’re done here. Tell me how much so I can sign this check. And once I do, this is it. It’s the last one, so make it count. I don’t want to see you. I don’t want to hear from you. I don’t want you to think about Jenny or me again. We’re dead to you.”

And THEN LITERALLY A SECOND LATER DECKER IS LIKE

“I forgive you, okay?”
“You’re not a monster, Monica. You didn’t have the best examples growing up. I’m not blaming your parents for who you are, but it makes a difference. There are a lot of good things about you. I really do wish you the best, and hope you find whatever makes you happy. It just can’t be our daughter.”

image: description

Moving on we get to read my favorite quote from the book by Miss Tate
“Monica has no idea what she missed out on with Jenny and Decker. That’s okay, though, it left the door open for me to come into their lives.”
Don’t thank Monica hunny that Decker’s dick.

image: description

Fast forward Tate's boss is not happy with the relationship, forces Tate to leave Chicago. Then Decker threatens the boss to cancel the merger if he does not let Tate come back. They both say I love you, move in together and get engaged 6 months later

“The day we met, I knew there was something special about you. I never imagined what would follow. I never imagined I’d find someone who could fit into mine and Jenny’s lives so seamlessly. You put me in my place more times than I can count. You put up with me. You know me better than anyone. You’re my best friend. My partner. The only woman…” He pauses and drops to one knee.
Tears stream from my eyes, and I both hate and love that he can turn me into a blubbering mess.
Once down on his knee, Decker continues, “I want to share my life with. Will you marry me?”
