This is a nice little book about yoga for beginners. It is geared toward teenage girls, and gives a run down of the poses, ways to enhance or even out moods, healthy food choices, and aromatherapy. I like the drawings in the book, as they exhibit the poses quite well.
Yoga Chick is quick and simple, easy to read, with a lot of information for beginners. I would recommend it to all teens who have an interest in yoga.
I picked up this novel due to the nostalgic mid-2000's illustrations, and the contents were a sweet surprise. I'm giving Yoga Chick a 5/5 exclusively for the trailblazer attitude expressed. Coming across a graphic novel of this subject is revolutionary even in the current year, let alone 2006. As someone who has been fervently studying Buddhism and meditation, Yoga Chick has been a comforting affirmation. I am exiting my late adolescence and could relate to the audience targeted, however I feel this novel can be applicable for women at any stage of their life. I suffer from mental and chronic illness so at times I had to interpret the contents from a different perspective, which I think is acceptable as everyone is different, and the style Yoga Chick is written makes is easy to do so.
Published in 2006, this holds up well in 2025. I have a fondness for these cute, illustrated introductory yoga books designed for females in their teens, 20s, and 30s. They are inviting, comforting, supportive, and informative. It's positive and a lovely addition to a new-to-yoga feamle in your life who won't be put off by the word chick.
I purchased several books like this when I was teaching teen yoga.
These books, published on the cusp of the social media explosion, are like a time capsule of a time that was less mean online.
Great yoga book for any yogi. This book encompasses many different aspects of yoga and I learned a lot. I am a seasoned yogi and yoga teacher so I think it is a great addition to your yoga library
cute teen-yoga book. good explanation of the basic poses and how to build it into flow. assuming you can ignore all the outdated food advice - soy milk + half a bagel for breakfast. easy read, enjoyable.
cute book. emphasizes on the act of balancing which is prime in your everyday life. easy yoga asanas! read through it in a day and practised all of them with my little 4 year old daughter. and now she carries the book all day with her, so when she wants to do yoga she opens it up and gets on!! :-)
