Thriving While Black: Creating Black Wall Streets In The 21st Century

Rate this book
In a modern social context, Black people have seen and/or experienced “driving while Black”, “walking while Black”, “shopping while Black” and even “dying while Black.” In this provocative book, Author, Entrepreneur and Radio Host, John Key advocates that the Black community itself can and must strategically usher in a new phenomenon which the book refers to as “Thriving While Black”. In other words, according to Key, the Black community can collectively enjoy a normal way of living which embodies abundance and well being, or “thriving and not just surviving!” While using a lexicon unique to Blacks in America, the book “Thriving While Black” also conveys inspirational and informative messages to Blacks throughout the African Diaspora. The book consists of a collection of “empowerment essays” reflecting upon the vast potential of the Black community to address internal needs. Each Essay takes the reader on a topic sequential exploration into how the so-called “Abundant Life” Jesus said he “came to give us” can be realized by individuals and entire communities. “Thriving While Black” has been fashioned to serve as an instantaneous and personal devotional so that wherever one begins reading or picks it up after a pause, the motivational benefits begin immediately. Our hope is that the words and the spirit which produced them; align perfectly with the fact that GOD is a very “present help” in our time(s) of need. For communities, organizations, and institutions, it is our desire that this communiqué entitled “Thriving While Black” serve as a productive tool for both cohesive organization and collective inspiration to spur appropriate and timely action.
