Rate this book
Hunted by the law, starving and desperate, Athra agrees to defend a small village against Kaldgrani, a twisted and vicious killer. Although Athra initially plans to steal from the villagers and desert them, he finds himself falling in love with Hild, a beautiful young woman, and resolves to stay. Athra discovers, however, that the village contains additional mysteries when a strange woman appears claiming to know him and suddenly vanishes. When Kaldgrani attacks, all thought of that mystery is driven from Athra's mind as a brutal, running battle between them ensues. Will Athra survive to make a life for himself with Hild and solve the mystery that plagues him?
