Jeff Revell has been shooting professionally for more than 25 years, and has a wide range of expertise in everything from landscape photography to travel and urban photography. As an early adopter of digital technology, he has been on the leading edge of digital imaging technology, education and instruction.
Perhaps best known as the photographer behind the popular "PhotoWalk Pro" blog, each weekday Jeff shares step-by-step tutorials on digital photography technique and editing of digital images. The worldwide appeal of Jeff's site, along with his live PhotoWalks have made him one of the most sought-after and trusted sources for digital photography training and education.
Although the bulk of this book is meant to be used as reference, I read it straight through and left sticky notes throughout. The tips are useful as are the sample shots the author includes along with their ISO, f-stop, shutter speed and distance. It is a bit more complex and detailed than Your Camera Loves You, Learn to Love It Back, another DSLR guide book that I loved.
Excellent and comprehensive book on Using Exposure. In addition to being a photographer with more than 25 years of experience, Jeff Revell teaches photography classes in person and online, so his teaching experience is clear here (few wasted words). Very nicely illustrated examples (with camera settings for each featured shot.). This is a great book if you want to try manual settings on your camera, or to shoot film. The book succeeds on teaching the beginner fundamentals, and thoughtfully includes portraits as well as landscapes and travel photography. With that said, the book was originally published in 2011... and over 10+ years ago is a few lifetimes in the digital photography world. (RATE: 4.4-4.6/5.0 stars).
If you're a beginner photographer, you should definitely read this book. Even throws light on some moderate photography tips & techniques. The exercises after each chapter will help a lot.
