A visit to the Kentucky Derby opens Cassie's eyes to the fast-paced and dangerous world of gambling, deceit, and drugs played daily at the tracks and sets her on the tail of some horse thieves
This is the second book in the Cassandra Best Mystery series. Although I didn't like it quite as much as I did the first book, I still find this a great series in the style of the classic girls' mystery series.
Cassie Best Jones, who goes by Cassandra best when shes in her detective mode, is called to the Churchill Downs Kentucky Derby races when Magic Spell, a contender for winning the race, is kidnapped. She meets up with her British friend Alexandra there, who is on assignment from her father's newspaper. Once again Cassie follows the clues to discover who the horse napper is. Although it's a well-written mystery book, I'm just not crazy about horse stories.
