I loved this book, it featured everything you could want in a sci-fi action thriller. It features two storylines: one in the past and one in current time. But they link together in this strange series. This is the 10th Bob Mayer book I have read in the past couple of years and I have given them all 4 or 5 ratings (mostly 4's). I have the 4th book (6 total) in this series already on my Kindle and I am looking forward to reading it.

Atlantis: Devils Sea is a strong follow-up novel to the second in the series, "Atlantis: The Bermuda Triangle” with second novel in the Atlantis series. Bob Mayer (AKA Greg Donegan) continues to shows how he one of the more unique stand out authors in the sci-fi genre. Intermingling sci-fi, historical events, with edgy military techo-thriller, and action, Mayer weaves some of the most enjoyable and imaginative unique stories with his Atlantis series.
With the Atlantis series, Mayer weaves a story of how the deadly elements of what was once thought to be ancient mythology collide with our modern militarized world, bringing to bear a frighteningly realistic, gruesome battle for world domination. A centuries-old war being fought between interdimensional foes has resurfaced in three of the Earth's most mysterious regions. A ship missing since WWII and a covert group of soldiers missing since the Vietnam War, both of which vanished in such regions, suddenly re-emerge from them as though not a day has passed. Only one man has been successful at returning from any of these mystical regions alive and after learning what really happened to Atlantis, he may be the only man who can save the world from a similar fate at the hands of the most deadly evil that has ever threatened it.
The Atlantis series is truly some of the most inspired and imaginative fiction in recent history and masterfully mixes the sci-fi genre with modern age fiction, providing enough action to keep fans of even Tom Clancy glued. Mayer has truly authored some of the unique page-turners.
Atlantis Devil's Sea is exciting to the point where I read it non-stop, pretty much. I loved the adventure, the way the author orchestrated the time differences with the characters encounters with the same devils. This is a very fast moving story and I would love to read more novels by this author. I am not one to discuss spoilers but just to say this novel is so imaginative and contains some scientific content that I have no idea whether it is accurate or not. It reads as if it is so, I am satisfied. I feel nit picking is not fair when it comes to fiction as long as the detail moves the story along. Who has the time to run off and investigate whether there is reality in it? Not me. I would rather spend that time reading.
There is quite the assemblage of scientific information, historical facts, fictional premises and contemporary drama. The story is enjoyable as it presents scenarios occurring during Titus' reign simultaneously with those happening currently.
Hopefully the scientific details are accurate as that adds gravitas to the reading. The historical facts seem accurate and make that part of the storyline engaging to read. This is a complex novel and satisfies the history buff as well as the technologist in me.
Mayer presents us with a round story that is fully completed and does not necessarily need a sequel. But both books are very good. This one is a trifle better even than the "Bermuda Triangle". What I think very good is that the author does not make the same mistake as many modern SF authors: he does not indulge in painfully long descriptions of technical devices that do not exist, but writes a story for the story's sake. And it is a story full of suspense with characters that are credible and alive. In this book the fantasy elements are missing that give such a decisive character to the second book. But here the characters and a well constructed plot take over and make this novel a unique experience.
Overall, Atlantis: The Devil’s Sea, a fast-paced action story which keeps the reader guessing until the end.

Excellent and fun for all ages
The Atlantis series of books is a good anytime read, from the prodigious mind of Bob Mayer. I started as a fan of the Area51 series and moved on from there to the Night Stalkers, Time Patrol, and others written under his own name as well as his pen name of Robert Doherty. Atlantis can be read as individual stories or as a another view of the world dealing with the nemesis "the Shadow" as in the Night Stalkers and Time Patrol . Time travel and the possibility of alternate parallel universe views (think String Theory) with Crustal plate tectonics and you have an exciting ride. The books are appropriate for all age levels and can lead to curiosity in the sciences as much as much of the science in these books are based on current thinking. Read and enjoy!

The circle is half complete
And the circle is half complete. This is the most exciting I've read in the "Ones Before" universe. I started on Nightstalkers and finished Time Patrol before I started on this series. I've debated long how I'll do the "Ones Before" universe and I can truly say I made the right decision to read the three series in this particular order — it made this series, in particular this book, very heart pumping. The variables and probabilities were amazingly woven together without conflicting any established "canon".
Yes, I'm calling the Nighstalkers, Time Patrol, and Atlantis as the "Ones Before universe" together.

An enjoyable fantasy mixing historical and current possibilities.
There is quite the assemblage of scientific information, historical facts, fictional premises and contemporary drama. The story is enjoyable as it presents scenarios occurring during Titus' reign simultaneously with those happening currently.
Hopefully the scientific details are accurate as that adds gravitas to the reading. The historical facts seem accurate and make that part of the storyline engaging to read.

Good book, had quality...
Lots of typos, usually using wrong word. Very distracting. Does not appear to have been proof read very well for Kindle. Too book itself was interesting - expanding upon previous books in this series.

The last minute saves in this series are getting pretty old. And with this one there were so many mixed up time lines that at times all I could do was shake my head.

I truly enjoyed the entry of New and old chacthers an the dolphin was the main star opinion. Do the use of nukes is getting abit old was the only thing I didn’t like.

In 1628 bc a legendary eruption that destroyed the minoan civilization is perpetuated by the Shadow.
In 79 ad a Delphi oracle teams up with one of the greatest gladiators to try and stop the Shadow from destroying mount vesuvius leading to the destruction of Pompeii.
In 1937 Amelia Earhart is on the last leg of her around the world flight over the Devil's Sea, when the Shadow takes her plane and she disappears.
In 1986 at Chernoybyl Russia, the Shadow invades drawing power from the reactor causing a major historical event.
And in present day, Eric Dane must try to puzzle all the pieces together in an attempt to stop the Shadow from destroying the world.
Overall another wonderful read by Bob Mayer who takes us on a historical journey through time, adding in a bit of Sci-fi, fantasy and mythology in trying to discover who the Shadow is and how to stop them.

I've wanted to read this series since I heard him speak at WisRWA and NJ RWA conferences. My favorite writing teacher Bob Mayer's alter-ego. Nothing like NOT starting a series at the beginning though! He does enough backstory that you're not lost. Masterful job of blending the "THEN" and "NOW" chapters. I never got lost. I did get a little lost in the technical scientific aspects of the plot, but not enough to NOT be able to follow the story. The only thing I missed was deeper character development. I'm used to less character-more plot in this genre, but I wish just once someone would break the mold. Still an enjoyable read.

“Atlantis: Devil’s Sea” by Bob Mayer writing as Robert Doherty is a fascinating book. It is full of faced paced action and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading the book. The twist and turns in the plot kept me involved in the story and made for a great book. I especially like the way he developed the storyline from 79 A.D. and the storyline from the present day and brought them together in a dramatic conclusion.
This is the second book in this series I have read and I have enjoyed both of them immensely.
I highly recommend this book for all ages.

It is a great series nearly as good as the Area 51 books. Humanity fights for its life and legacy through time and space. I love how it adds enough history to might be plausible. The problem I keep finding is misplaced or misspelled words. I read these when they first came out and do not remember this problem. I think it may be from the transfer to the ebook edition. I want to keep reading hopefully itll get better.

One of the most interesting and amazing things about this series to me is the sheer number of alternate history short stories that make up and comprise the whole. Everything from the Battle of Little Big Horn, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and Thermopylae to Vikings, Samurai, and Roman Legions with former Gladiators as Centurions. If you like Sci Fi this series should be in your library.

I really enjoyed reading this series. Sure there were a few editing errors or lack of editing but that didn't detract too much from the experience as a whole. I found myself reading any time I could get a few minutes of quiet time so I really burned through the books. Lots of adventure, science, history and fantasy all rolled together.

After reading all six Atlantis books this is another Bob Mayer series that I loved. The Atlantis series is similar in style and approach as the Area 51 series where the author blends history with fiction seamlessly. The story line is great fun with the unknowns being slowly revealed over the course of the series into a conclusion that wraps up the series.

Another fast paced action sci-fi. Very entertaining. A little loose with his facts, e.g. Mt. St. Helens is in Washington not Oregon. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Light, quick reads.

This book keeps up the suspense from the previous novels and adds to it! The plot lines keep change quickly to keep you wanting to read more and more. Bring on number 4!

Of the series so far, I found this book to jump around in time too much (ineffectively) and kind of fell flat at the end. The first two were 4-5 stars.

This is the third entry in the "Atlantis" series, and I think it's the best one yet. These books are quick, exciting reads.
