Great collection of stories from one of the best writers in baseball. I'm sure a lot of these characters were exaggerated but I doubt by much.

A fine book to recommend on Opening Day. Especially if you live in the Chciago-South Bend-Niles area where Ring Lardner worked, worked and was born, respectively. Even if you don't like baseball, you should read these if you like reading good writing.

What a writer. Under-appreciated. Funniest writer I've ever read.
