No home, no more job - such as it was, anyway - and his only possession is the pair of leather pants he ran away in. Things can only get better from here. Right? But what Ajay doesn't realize is that better isn't necessarily good enough. He meets Cameron, a Dom without a sub, who gives him a place to stay. Cameron can get sex anywhere, and is astoundingly impervious to Ajay's charms. Just when nothing seems to be working, Ajay discovers an interesting fact about vanilla and is willing to defile the Mackenzie dining table and risk the Mackenzie crystal to prove that he is worthy. And hopefully change Cameron's mind.
Very good m/m romance about a sub-for-hire, escaped from a bad situation, who is desperately trying to convince the man he's staying with while he sorts out his life that he'd be the perfect sub. I want to read more about these characters!
I love a short, light and sweet story. This one was all of those things but something about it also felt a little...off I guess. Why was I thinking so deeply about something that's just supposed to be a cute romp? I wasn't really. There was just one thing that kept throwing me off a bit.
In any case, the blurb sums up this little story pretty well. Ajay is a 20 year old sub-for-hire who runs away from an abusive club where he's being pimped out. He's found by Mal who then turns Ajay over to his Dom brother Cameron. Cameron takes Ajay in, finds him a job and Ajay commences to trying to seduce Cameron.
There was nothing wrong with the plot. I mostly had a problem with Ajay. On one hand he was cute. On the other hand he came across, to me, as really young. Also when he first meets one of the characters who he thinks is Cameron's sub, Ajay negatively judges his ability as a sub and starts thinking of a way to kick the guy out of Cameron's life. I didn't like that and Ajay's disregard for the other guy made him seem immature. I probably shouldn't have cared but...I did. It sullied my enjoyment of the story just a bit.
So, why don't I just knock stars off of my rating instead of not rating the story at all? Because I did kinda sorta like it and I probably was supposed to just go along for the fluffy ride. It just so happens that I ruined it by looking under the hood.
Ajay's run away from a bad situation in a pair of leather pants and not much else. Weak and tired he falls asleep in a doorway and the next morning meets Cameron. Ajay realizes right away that Cameron is a Dom and soon all he wants is to be Cameron's boy. Will a few recipes and a special ingredient get him his heart's desire?
This was an enjoyable read with a lite BDSM element. I really liked all of the characters in the story especially Ajay. I've also read a couple of other stories by Andy Slayde and Ali Wilde and along with this one I found them interesting, well-written and entertaining. The Dominant Ingredient has moments of humor, a bit of angst due to Ajay's previous life and an overall sweet, sexy feel to the storyline. Fans of the authors won't be disappointed in their latest story. Recommended.
Ajay runs from the dom who bought him for the night badly injured. He's rescued by Malcolm who recognizes the signs of BDSM and calls his brother Cameron to help. When Cam realizes what happened he offers Ajay a job in the kitchen of a club he frequents and a place to live, no strings. However Ajay wants strings, he needs a Dom and wants to be Cam's sub and sets about proving that he would be perfect however Cam is having none of it as he feels Ajay is too young and he's been burned in the past. There is a side-story of Cam's friend Riley who's learning to be a Dom and this story links in with Mist Gray, I'm really hoping we get to see Riley and Avery's story, even though I know it ends sadly eventually. I really liked this one a lot. I loved how Ajay knew he needed a dom, he needed someone to tell him what to do, to keep him grounded and secure, he was seeking that and knew he couldn't live with Cam forever just floating along doing whatever he wanted, it didn't work for him. I also loved Riley and even the club owner Russell was a hoot.
"Come, mon petit. Your destiny awaits." "You're so dramatic," Ajay murmured. "I know, cheri. Isn't it fabulous?"
He's not even French. LOL This was definitely a great read for me and I need to thank Ali and Andy who offered this book up at Wave's Christmas give-away and I was very lucky to have won it. Thanks guys, it was a perfect gift. :-)
This was a cute story about a young Ajay, who hasn't been treated well previously, but now sets his sights on a hot older Scottish dom who has taken him in. The immaturity of Ajay drove me a little crazy at times, but I liked the general idea of the story. There are no actual scenes to sink your teeth into, and I wish there were more details given throughout. I also wish the ending weren't so abrupt, as it ended just when things were really beginning to heat up. I would love to read more about these characters.
My first introduction to Cameron and Ajay was in a series of shorts that the authors posted as a holiday treat on LiveJournal. After that, I quickly acquired - and read - this and Mist Grey, both set in the same universe.
These characters really spoke to me and I liked their interactions. My criticism is always that I want more (which, of course, is not really a criticism at all, LOL), but I definitely find books by these authors enjoyable, well-written, fun, and hot.
This was an enjoyable read. I'm a sucker for anything that involves gourmet food and erotica. However, the characters were too simplistic. It seems to be a stereotype that subs have a single brain cell and want to run at the first sign of trouble, and doms that are too thick to know what's good for them.
The story is simple and the characters were interesting. I liked the theme and the romance side of this plot. Nice easy read with warm touch. It would be interesting to read more about this couple...
This was a good short story about a young man wanting to be a Sub for a hot, older Dom. The story was mostly about the chase and the love forming between the two men. A little more detail would have been nice but hey it was a short story.
I really enjoyed this as a light read. I admit that I was drawn in by the combination of vanilla and bdsm. The dialogue was snappy and the story moved along at a good pace.
