I'm very fond of Lori Foster but I found the two stories in Bewitched disappointing. It was hard to believe these were written only 10 years ago. Both plots were so nonsensical, making me repeatedly wonder things like "why aren't the cops being called?" "why won't he get a paternity test?" "do people really get all worked up about the "leading families" in big cities any more?" "how will a temporary marriage help fix things?" "doesn't anyone have a cell phone?" "why was it so hard to track down his children for 18 years if they live 20 minutes away and somehow they found him without too much trouble?" Then there was a convoluted side plot that must be continued in another book where I was mentally drawing a family tree trying to figure out who was related to who.
Also, the characters weren't as fun as Fosters' usual bunch. I especially wasn't thrilled with the hero in Married to the Boss who apparently could refer to himself as "Houston's Most Eligible Bachelor" and think of his as "one of Houston's finest families" without any sense of irony or self-deprecation. Spare me.
So, as much as I hate rating Lori Foster this low and I see that many others really like both these stories, I couldn't get past the absurd plots and lackluster characters. I was able to finish with a certain amount of skimming but mainly I just wanted to get through it.

4 Married to the Boss Stars
Dana and R.J are fun characters and I really enjoyed that back and forth we get. You are kind of thrust into the story and it took a few chapters to get the jist of things. But once I did I really enjoyed it.
I liked that R.J was a little out of his comfort zone and that Dana is the one person he could rely on. The “fake” marriage is probably one of my favorite tropes because the men always fall so much harder in the end. I just love that.
I liked the narration but I guess I kind of wanted a male to narrate. But either way, it was ok for me.

This was yet another okay read, but Married to the Boss really annoyed the heck out of me.
This is basically the 3rd book in a series, I started this book and other characters were mentioned with basically no background as if I was suppose to already know them. After doing some googling I found out about the Maitland Maternity series, but each book is written by a different author. The whole set up for this felt so poorly planned. The whole Connor thing? Wtf. And the book ends with that not resolved at all. I went and read the synopsis for each book and unless I’m missing something it’s not mentioned in any, so doesn’t seem like the Connor gets a book (currently side eyeing this series), I understand that Connor’s identity was the subplot for this book but the main plot majorly is because of him and yet we don’t get that resolved what so ever, sigh. I don’t want to have to read every single book for this to be resolved so I definitely won’t be looking into that series any further.

Both of these stories are good. In to Deep is about a private detective and the women in the convenience store with him when they both get kidnapped by two local goons. They get free then team together to catch the goons. Charlie the lady was spying on her father who she hasnt seen since she was a child. Harry just happens to consider her father as a father figure to him. Finally she gets to know her father and the bad guys get caught in a hilarious manner.
The second story is about a boss who asks his Secretary to marry him to help calm down bad publicity about him. The fact that the boss is being accused of not taking care of a baby that is supposedly his is a new plot in the usual secretary marries boss story. But as usual in these storis neither want wants to tell the other that they are in love so there is some drama until they both find out that they love each other. The characters are interesting and strong.

Two wonderful books in one...I had read To hot To Handle so I got to read Married to the Boss this time..what a great book..Dana is a straight laced woman who is R. J.'s secretary...She defends him to the nth degree when he is accused of fathering a child...To try to repair his reputation he comes up with a plan and asks Dana to marry him..he gives his condition and she does her's..but the first night is a diseaster...Dana has always been in love with RJ but will he ever love her and over come his pass to truly commit to her...A beautiful sexy romance

Only read the first one, which was just okay, it was hard for me to picture the two main characters together... couldn't get into the second. Disappointing for this author who normally delivers a pretty exciting story.

The first book was good. The second one was a lil so-so for me. The whining was a lil too much for me. But then I did find a new author which I absolutely love. I will definitely read more of her works.

In Too Deep:
Harry Lonnigan is a P.I. helping out friends by trying to nab a group of thugs who are extorting elderly business owners in the neighborhood. While doing undercover surveillance, he meets a woman, Charlotte "Charlie" Jones, who is badly disguised as a man and who jumbles up his investigation to the point where they are both abducted by the thugs. Turns out she's been spying on her negligent father who has been out of the picture for over 18 years, leaving her to care for her mother and younger sister. Harry is drawn into her drama and as they get closer, it becomes harder for him to admit his close association to her father and try to convince her to accept a long sought-after reconciliation.

(3.5) Dont be fooled by the cover...though it is nice to look at. To be brutally honest, I only picked up this book b/c of ‘Married to the Boss,’ I had no intention of ever reading ‘In Too Deep,’ but found myself turning to its pages anyway…
And was not satisfied at all with the book I had intended to only read in the first place, until I found out after a little research that Bewitched was a reprint of Foster’s books. For those of you didn’t like the second book Married to the Boss, it’s actually a series—thank god, b/c I found myself filled with many questions after words. So definitely check that out the Maitland Maternity series, of course, by Foster, if you enjoyed reading R.J. and Dana’s story.

IN TOO DEEP - I really liked this story. Harry is very funny with his big words and fancy attitude. Charlie is his complete opposite and that makes them such a fun couple. Harry and Charlie have a complicated relationship, but Ms. Foster is able to write it in such a way that the reader believes everything will work out from the very beginning. Even though there are misunderstandings and half-truths being told left and right.
MARRIED TO THE BOSS - I had to do a little investigating after reading this story. It was part of a Harlequin series called Maitland Maternity. As far as I could tell it was the 3rd book in the series. There were a few parts where I wondered what had happened previously. I don’t think you need to have read the books in the series to enjoy MARRIED TO THE BOSS, but it wouldn’t hurt. I went on Amazon and ordered several of the books after reading this one, because I want to know what happens to the other characters!

Absolutely adored the male lead, Harry. I can picture him if he was in Regency England as some stuffy Lord of the realm and Charlie as some street urchin. Just love a man who knows his way around words, it made his character such a perfect foil for Charlie. Great book, could have used a slightly better ending but very satisfying read.

The two leads, RJ and Dana, are total opposites and while that's usually a good mix, I found Dana was too much of a "yes" girl who fawned over RJ as his secretary and it didn't jive that much for me. And after discovering that he was having feelings for her, RJ turns completely incompetent in how he deals with her. And with it being part of the Maitland Maternity series, it doesn't completely wrap up all the issues involved in the story so it was just ok.

I loved IN TOO DEEP, it was a great story with Lori's typical kick-ass heroine and the hero who doesn't think he's a hero. The supporting characters, Jillian and Dalton were interesting and it had a good sub-plot of suspense to add some drama.
MARRIED TO THE BOSS was O.K. Dana got on my nerves, because she was so insecure, and RJ was a little to dense in recognizing his own emotions. Also, a sub-plot got left totally unresolved and I HATE that! I have searched for a sequel that finishes that plot line but, so far I have not found it. I f anyone knows if there is a book about Connor I would love to know!

The first story In Too Deep has lots of action and an interesting storyline. The second story Married to the Boss has an interesting twist to the marriage of convenience proposal. The problem with this second story is that I realized that it was part of an old series from Harlequin and there's more to it than this tale. But finding the rest of the stories is not that easy and leaves me disappointed as to finding out what comes next. Not even sure that the series is all by the same author (threre are lots of Harlequin series that have multiple authors).

In Too Deep was a little less enjoyable for me. Charlie's character got on my nerves quite a bit.
Married to the Boss was more my speed regarding characters IF you can get past the obvious: why was a paternity test not the first order of business? Otherwise, I really enjoyed this story.

These are short stories and in general I'm not crazy about short stories... just seems you can't really develop good believable characters and situations in that short of time and that was true here. Overall the stories were ok just sort of hokey and rushed at times. I liked Married to the Boss better than In Too Deep - the heroine was much more likeable.

it was okay. i really didn't like the first main femal character. i felt like she was a little bit too pushy for the guy that she was with. the second one was a lot better, but still the main femal character got on my nerves as well.

I was not impressed with In Too Deep, so I was a little slow in reading Married To The Boss. I enjoyed it much more. But I was frustrated with some parts of it, such as a simple paternity test. However, I liked it enough to want to read the other books in this series.

Just couldn't get into either of these stories..the characters were too annoying BUT am going to finish the second story in the book.
In Too Deep is the first story that I didn't care to finish due to characters and story being irritating and reading this just wasn't fun.

Once again good cover, that has nothing to do with the stories. In too deep was not worth reading. Married to the boss was better. But both of these stories I could have skipped. These are her earlier works that have bbeen repackaged and rereleased.

It's hard to believe that a mere 14 years ago we read and write about heroines who were so prim and proper and unfair of their sexuality. Married to the Boss was definitely a struggle and the whimpering virgin was uncomfortably hard to like m

I really liked both of these stories but my absolute favorite was "married to the boss". it was a great story of unrequited love a secretary has for her boss until he falls for her.

I very much enjoy Lori Foster as an author, but I don't know why I keep picking up her short story books. Neither of the 2 stories kept my interest as it took me 3 days to finish the book.
