Their stories, which take place in France and elsewhere throughout Europe and the United States, intersect in seemingly random yet revealing ways, gradually forming a complex social portrait. Unifying all their stories are the themes of loneliness, restlessness, and the search for meaning in a world in which neither the past nor the present offers firm answers or lasting consolations.

No sé si sea por el momento en el que una misma está pero estas tres historias entrelazadas me han dado mucho en que pensar. En lo que queda atrás y lo que a una le queda por delante.

La escritura de Soledad Puértolas históricamente me ha calmado mucho, pero en este libro no podía evitar leer los diálogos con voz de Samantha Hudson. A lo mejor es como el pollo al limón del chino, que fue mi plato estrella durante una década y de pronto un día dejó de gustarme. Espero que no.

Soy muy fan de cómo escribe Soledad Puértolas. Lea el libro que lea, algo en su literatura siempre me es familiar. Quizás por los personajes llenos de melancolía y sueños frustrados, que vagan por ciudades de ensueño como anónimos, sin aferrarse a nada ni a nadie. Aunque la historia sea un tanto confusa, en parte por el minúsculo hilo conductor que relaciona a los tres relatos, no es difícil engancharse a las impecables descripciones de la autora. Esa forma de concluir los capítulos hace que queramos leer más y más.

A medida que he ido avanzando, me ha ido gustando más. Son tres relatos entrelazados entre sí con personajes algo perdidos y muy sensibles a la vida. A través de lazos fortuitos que les unen de algún modo, Soledad Puértolas nos cuenta la evolución de ellos, de sus pensamientos y sensaciones. Pauline, la primera protagonista, pasó por mí sin pena ni gloria, pero René y Lilly me conquistaron desde el primer momento, quizás, por su sinceridad ante los que los hacía vulnerables.
La verdad es que ha sido un libro un poco terapéutico.

If you like a confusing book than this is the one for you. There are three different story’s all related by the society they take place in. The narrators are all interesting characters how ever there is no real climax and seemingly no true purpose to the book besides there somewhat similar feelings of being lost and confused. It is a short book and easy to read. The translation is also pretty good.

Excelente libro donde muestra la introspección de los personajes en su camino por la vida, buscando no perderse y tratando de reencontrarse.
