This fourth edition of Programmable Logic Controllers continues to provide an up-to-date introduction to all aspects of PLC programming, installation, and maintaining procedures. No previous knowledge of PLC systems or programming is assumed. As one reviewer of this edition put it "I honestly believe that someone with little or no background to PLC systems could take this book and teach themselves PLCs".
Gives a good introduction to PLCs, including some chapters on electromechanical devices and basic digital electronic information like integrated circuits. While the content is well structured, the writing could be better organized for more fluid reading; in addition, more advanced applications for PLCs like integrating with different programming programs is not covered. This book will best serve as an introduction or as source material for someone who works with PLCs and wants a refresher on a specific item beyond what Allen Bradley provides. I would recommend that this book be paired with Allen Bradley/Rockwell official publications in order to fill out more details beyond what the book covers.
