A collection of vignettes that range from the poignant to the whimsical, this grab bag of character moments didn’t really impress. Greg Rucka’s Captain America vignette that deals with the fallout of a downed soldier during Siege was meaningful and left an impression, especially as the kill featured in Siege: X-Men and was the moment I gave up on Daken forever, but beyond that it’s mostly forgettable. For Marvel completists only.
Really a very sorry excuse for a volume - barely readable shorts about the fringes of avengers day to day life that won’t wen make the slightest sense to you unless you are quite well versed in the avengers universe - even then, not worth the paper they are printed on
I thought it was going to be a full story featuring the characters on the cover (which is why I bought it because I love Kate, Speed & Wiccan so much) but it was more of a collection of (sometimes very) short comics. It was still enjoyable, but not was I was expecting.
Was close to givin' the sucker a two, but the last few stories saved it. I really liked Thing's FF story. I liked the Jarvis story & Ant-Man's wasn't too bad. The last & longest story was pretty good, too. & amazing art work in it. Otherwise, the other stories are mostly misses in my book, though some are neither here nor there. I must admit, I didn't know what I was getting myself into with this book. I thought it was going to be some triumphant "We Are The Avengers" type story... guess I shoulda read the blurb. Anyhow, not a bad timewaster.
A series of vignettes, so the tone is all over the place, but it is interesting to see the different artistic styles back to back. I suppose it's an interesting character study on the characters who become Avengers, although it's also a reminder on what a small army the list of current and former Avengers has become. The book is spoiler proof, as little actually happens.
For my first ever Marvel comic I think this one was a good start. It introduced me to a lot of the superheroes. The different art styles were beautiful.
But there wasn't anything to make me go yes I want to read this person's series. I did get it from a cheap shop for like £3 so I'm not surprised but I do think it's a good first read as I do plan to get into more superhero comics.
Short stories about individual Avengers that do not really disturb the continuity. As one might expect, some are better than others in both the writing and the artwork. I only paid £3.50 for it so I can't complain but it's nothing special.
