A powerful vendetta is brought forth against the people of Saint Anthony Parish, Lousiana. Detectives Donavan Hays and Jack Olivier’ find themselves pitted against an evil that has walked this plane for over two centuries and who has now taken up residency in the Hindel Mansion.
Evil doesn’t forget: Especially when that evil comes in the form of a werewolf.
Judith Ann McDowell does it again. The sequel takes place a year later and we are introduced to some more of the Hindel family. The book initially takes on the familiarity of the the first, but just when you think you know what's going to happen, it takes an abrupt turn and you are off on a roller coaster ride. There will be no sympathizing for the evil Hindel's in the book once Lawerence takes to the darkside, but you will certainly be rooting for our heroes Donavan and Jack as they do their best to protect the ones they love and rid the Parish of the dark evil living there. A must read for those who like a bit of seediness, murder, hot and steamy sex along with some series butt-kicking for a family of werewolves.
A GREAT SEQUAL. YOU CAN READ THIS ONE WITHOUT READING THE FIRST, BUT READ THEM TOGETHER WITH THE THIRD INSTALLMENT, AND HAVE YOUR HORROR SOCKS KNOCKED OFF. GREAT BOOKS BY A GREAT AUTHOR
Looking forward to the next chapter in the lives of these characters. I know it s not over for Jack and Seelah. Andi figure baby Donovan is going to have some issues to overcome. I do t believe the rougarou evil is gone. Diving into book three for more werewolf evil.
Amazing sequel. The father of the rougarou, (werewolf), arrives with family members to seek revenge for his son. He turns his grandson into a rougarou. His son plans to come back by taking over the soul of the unborn child of the detective who killed him. Will the rougarou family win? Or will the good spirits be able to stop the plans and bind the rougarous to await their return to God? I was glued to this story! The author weaves a story of romance and horror. She has the amazing ability of making you feel the pain of those you want to hate. The tension does not let up as the horror builds and the body count rises.
Graphic violence, adult themes and rough language makes this a book I recommend to adults who are not opposed to reading books containing these.
Sometimes the sequel is not up to the original but this one was. Just when Hays and Olivier think things are back to normal the crap hits the fan with the death of two teenagers on the Hindel Estate. Then Rafael Hindel shows up to help his grandson, Lawrence gain control of his family holdings. This is a buddy story with a supernatural spin to it. There is a good versus evil tone to it also, but it doesn't get real preachy. There were a few time I got a little confused in this story as to who was doing what, but it wasn't too bad. I like a story that the good guys win and this is true here or is it. To find out what I mean you will have to read this story and find out for yourself.
