Make sure to clean up your messes.

Keep the cat in the house.

Fraternal twins Nate and Larissa Pantera know all about strange rules. They've grown up with plenty of them, and they have always obeyed those rules without question.

However, disturbing things are starting to happen--both at home and at school. And when their parents go missing and a strange messenger appears, the twins discover that the only way to save them is by breaking all the rules.

Interlopers: A Shifters Novel is the thrilling fantasy adventure. Fans of YA fantasy, such as Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, love this new series about the Pantera twins, who discover that everything they thought they knew is only the beginning of the truth.

L. M. Davis loves great storytelling. She needs nothing more than a good book and a comfy chair to be happy. She was born in the south, raised in the north, and has a few degrees under her belt. She still hasn’t gotten her black cat, but she thinks about it everyday. Her thoughts go something like this: "I really should get a cat." For now, she contents herself with spoiling the pets of her friends and family. Posers is the second book in the Shifters Novel series.

Of course, I love this book!

The book is about so many things. First and foremost, it is fantasy and for this first book, as well as the rest of the series, I have been having such a great time creating the characters and the worlds in which they live. (I won't say too much about that because I don't want to spoil anything for the readers.) Nate and Larissa are shape-shifting fraternal twins. This book, however, is different from Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. The twins don't discover one day that they have these abilities, they have known all of their lives who and what they are--or so they believe.
There are elements of mystery in this book as well. Though Nate and Larissa have always known that they were shifters, what they come to find out over the course of the book is that being shifters is only half of their legacy. Once they discover the other truth that their parents have hidden from them all of their lives, the twins plunge into a race against time as they try to find their parents and discover the identity of the villain that threatens their world.
Finally, and this is probably the part that surprises me most, this is a book about families (as the series is shaping up to be). It's weird, because I did not set out to write a book where familial relationships were so important. But this really is a book the ways that those relationships and dynamics shift as kids grow up and grow into their own.

This book is not about...

Tortured teenage romance(Not that I don't enjoy those on occasion myself). The twins are 12 going on 13 in this book, so they aren't quite into that stuff yet. Maybe there will be a little torture down the line.
Watered down adult themes. This book, along the series, is suspenseful, exciting, complex, and moving, but is really is about kids, their lives, the choices that they have to make, and the process of growing up.

I write a little more about the book here: If You Don't <3 Fantasy;
and here's a link to what some readers have been saying: Amazon Book Reviews

I hope you will get a copy, and I would love to here what you think.

Enjoy!

Interlopers was an enjoyable read I would recommend for Middle Grade, Young Adult and even Adult readers. I tend not to compare one author with another but the whole time I was reading it, I felt Interlopers was very Rick Riordan-esque, but with its own original spin. And that’s a great thing!

I really liked the main character, Nate. Even though I’m a thirty-seven year old woman, he was so relatable. He wasn’t always sure of himself, even doubted his abilities and questioned his capabilities in the beginning, but grew throughout the story and by the end was a strong, confident boy. I appreciated the way L.M. Davis allowed his character to develop. He was more than just a boy on paper.

Interlopers is a book that will keep you turning the pages. There’s not a boring chapter or passage to be found. I never had to push myself through a single part of the book, which says something about this author’s skill.

I’ve definitely found a new favorite in L. M. Davis. I look forward to reading Posers and anything else this author has to offer.

A Shifters Novel: Interlopers is a great read because it appeals to both girls and guys. There is action for guys to enjoy and a hint at romance for the girls to enjoy. I really liked the bond between Larissa and Nate and how they always stick together no matter what. The fact that Larissa and Nate are so close also makes the end really surprising though. I love the shifters concept and how its not the usual werewolves but instead wereleopards. I think turning into panthers is a really fresh and unique idea. The emotional tension between mostly Nate and his parents is really well written. For me it was like I was there and could actually feel the tension and anger in the air. Overall, this is a really great book!
