I loved her book, A Dangerous Man! For some reason I enjoy a possessive H in my novels (not in real life) . The H in this book could not be more different. Jagger was honorable and caring. He has feelings for Sophie right away. He also understands how hard it must be for her to trust someone.

Sophie's story is a sad tale. She was raised with a cruel stepbrother, she had twins out of wedlock, lost one child to fever, her Stewart takes off after stealing all her money, and now her "good" stepbrother tricked her into signing a marriage license. To say she's had a difficult life is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

Jagger never pressures her. Instead he supports Sophie. He doesn't want to take over but be her partner. Jagger instantly falls in love with her daughter and refers to her as THIER daughter. I just loved him🥰 He was such a refreshing change from most alpha male H.

Sidenote: I hated his name!! I couldn't stop singing, "I got the moves like Jagger"

The hero fell in love first

The hero was wonderful. I adored him. The heroine annoyed me but his kindness and love for her and her daughter finally got through to her. There were so many good parts in this story, and a lot of terrible things too. The death of a child prior to book starting, a near rape, and abuse. Jagger, the hero had left home at 12 and travelled to India where he made a lot of money. Lord Hallowell comes there begging for him to marry his step-sister. Someone is trying to kill him and he wants her secure. He had helped Jagger out when he needed his help at 12 and so Jagger said yes. When he meets the heroine, he falls into an almost Insta-love with her and her beauty. When someone tries to kill Lord Hallowell he forces them to marry before he dies and there are so many secrets They all keep. How it comes together is simply amazing. The little girl is so adorable and once you hear what happened to her you understand her hesitation to believe in or trust anyone. The villains in this book are many and pretty vile. I really enjoyed this book and I think she has one more I haven't read but I am snapping it up. And it's safe. Very important to me. Just all in all the best read of 2022 so far.

I enjoyed "Forever Yours", Janmarie Anello's debut Kensington historical romance novel. There were parts of the story I didn't like and pieces of plot I didn't quite believe, but her writing kept me reading until her story was done.

Sophie is a beauty who was ruined by a rake. When the consequences of her mistake became obvious, rather than allowing her family to force a marriage to such a scoundrel, she accepts her half-brother's offer of a small country estate. But tragedy seems to hover over Sophie and now she's quite at her wit's end. She hasn't seen her half-brother in two years, she's sold off almost everything she can, and now she's being importuned by yet another scoundrel! Into this scene steps a commanding man with a scar and WEDDING PAPERS!

Jagger can't believe his debt of honor will force him to return to England and marry! But learning of the death of his mother means he can now return and seek his revenge on the cruel father whose brutal actions caused him to leave England in the first place. He'll just wed her and then leave her in the country, no problem. Until he catches sight of this beautiful and courageous woman willing to defend what's hers with...a feather duster?

A little less angst and a little more relationship building would have brought this read four stars from me with no reservations. Although the plot is a well-used one, there were enough tweaks to give me a few surprises and the sensual pull between the lead characters was very well done. I'm headed to my TBR to pull out her next novel to sate my curiosity on Janmarie Anello's next book, "A Dangerous Man".

This review is of “Forever Yours” by Janmarie Anello.

The Story: The book begins with the hero of the book, Jagger Remington-there’s a romance novel name for you!-being asked-tricked-by Stephen Treneham, fourth Earl of Hallowell, into marrying Stephen’s stepsister, Sophie, the heroine of the book, because Jagger owes Stephen a favor. When they meet, Jagger and Sophie are attracted to each other, but she declines his marriage proposal. Sophie later accepts to provide peace to Stephen as he is dying.

As the book goes on, secrets are revealed about both Sophie and Jagger. These secrets lead to pain and heartache for both Sophie and Jagger, but they also bring them together.

Sophie and Jagger become husband and wife in all ways, yet both are reluctant to say “I love you” to the other person. Finally, both realize the hurt they are suffering because of their behaviour and acknowledge their love for each other and have their Happily Ever After.

Upside: Both Sophie and Jagger are well-drawn, deep characters that readers will fall in love with and root for. Ms. Anello’s writing brings every emotion out of her characters in such a way that I never felt I was reading a book, but rather was watching two human beings living their lives.

Downside: Most of the issues Sophie and Jagger deal with could have been resolved MUCH earlier had their communicated with each other. This is, sadly, a plot device that is used WAY too much, the “lack of communication” storyline.

Sex: The love scenes are beautifully written, more focused on the emotions of lovemaking that the esoterics of the act or describing body parts.

Violence: Assaults, stabbings and shootings take place in the book. None of the violence is overly graphic.

Bottom Line: Readers who love a deep, soulful Regency romance will find much to like here.

or most, this story will be an interesting read as far as historical romance goes. It has original characters and truly evil things going on in the characters' back stories.

Forever Yours was not quite as good as I had expected it to be. I did like the hero Jagger Remington, unfortunately I was disappointed with Sophie’s reactions to Jagger and to her step brother, Stephen.

The story starts off with Stephen locating Jagger in India. I got excited when I read that, because I love exotic locales, but the story moved back to England rather quickly when Jagger returned home to claim the bride he agreed to take after his old friend Stephen called in a life-debt that Jagger owed him.

Sophie, left alone for years to deal with Stephen's estate, is not happy when Jagger appears with the marriage contract. Not happy at all.

To me, she was unreasonable and argumentative. True, Sophie has had a difficult life - a young single mother scorned by society. She's strong enough to not care about society and deal with an estate that is on the brink of destruction after the man in charge of the money siphons off funds and absconds with it.

Sophie's reactions to Stephen's match making just didn't make sense to me. He saved her life, she loved him, but yet when he arranged the marriage between herself and Jagger she was ready to crucify him. I understand being upset, but for God's sake couldn't she give him the benefit of the doubt and find out why he did it? It just didn't seem to make sense to me.

The love story part is enjoyable enough, Jagger really made this book, despite his unfortunate name. How he works through his past, and her past for that matter, kept me turning the pages.

Maybe its just me, but I couldn’t get past a Regency Hero, son of a Duke, named Jagger!!! 🙄 It was like a discordant note every time his name was mentioned. It was just jarring.

One would think an author, who bothers to set her books in the Regency era, can spend 2 minutes googling the norms and names that would have been used in that time period, especially for the aristocracy. It just bugged me to no end and ruined the story.

The heroine couldnt save it either, stubborn, stupid, with a never ending pity party.

Which was too bad, it did have a good premise, I really did want to read a historical where the heroine had a child out of wedlock, it would have made it different. But it just got bogged down with stupid heroine antics and a Hero that should have been a cowboy instead of a Duke.

We are Family.

Jagger, what a name, pirate in looks, sweet as honey, hair black as night, eyes blue as the sky. Sophie, wrong by a cad when she was an innocent 17 year old. Cecelia 4 her daughter to the cad. Colin Cecelia's twin brother, weak from birth, dies at age 3. Stephen Sophia's stepbrother who loves her as if she were his blood sister. With that love he finds Sophia a husband who will love, care and protect her and her daughter. An arranged marriage to Jarred he believes is the answer. What a lot of twists and turns through this story, but what a lovely ending. From pain of their pasts, both find what they need in each other.

Although the plotline (arranged marriage) is not my favourite , this book was indeed a pleasant surprise. This book is the author's debut, but you wouldn't really know it by her writing. She writes like a seasoned romance writer. There is sizzle in her romance and a very satisfying about of sexual tension between the two h/hs.
The two both have secrets that are revealed piece by piece through the book and just like adding herbs to a stew, it adds to the flavour of the book. I read this in one single sitting, it was that good. Highly recommended author. Another one to watch for.
