When the mutilated body of a young woman is discovered in Boston?s historic North End Detectives Ed Fischer and John Nadeau are called in to investigate. Despite the brutality of the crime, there are no leads and it appears to be an isolated incident. However, a second murder just twenty-four hours later in Boston?s Backbay Fens seems eerily similar and the victims appear to be linked. Before the duo can put the pieces together, two more dead are found. Faced with a rising body count and the real prospect of a serial killer on the loose, the detectives must race against the clock to uncover the killer?s hair-raising identity before he, she or it strikes again. The debut novel from Tim Garrity, Vargulf represents a refreshing departure from the classic werewolf tale. Vargulf garnered honorary mention in the category of horror at the 2009 New England Book Festival and the 2009 DIY Convention in Los Angeles. Vargulf was also bestowed a bronze medal for Horror Fiction at 2010 IPPY Book Awards in New York.

Very good and different storyline.

If you are a fan of horror get this book it was gory, and scary. The main story line is a Detective vs a horrific werewolf with a vendetta against his former associates. Truly a book of good vs evil. ..... Loved it.!!

This book starts out choppy, confusing, and hard to read and follow. Then as it gets easier to read, the story is a bit slow to start. Stick with it, because it does get better, and turns out to be a pretty good werewolf story. It is a bit stereotypical as homicide detective versus supernatural killer stories go; there is a small twist at the end to makes up for it. The author’s choice of words and writing/descriptions can be snooty, but I easily ignored it. I’m happy that I only paid $2.99 for this eBook, and I don’t see myself reading any more of Tim Garrity’s books.
