One of the best analytical political books I've read recently by Germany's former Secretary of Treasure Peer Steinbrück. His way of saying directly what he means hasn't gotten him friends in his own party as well as with other parties only, but it's the reason why he's one of the most popular politicians in Germany these days despite holding no office except that of a simple representative to the Bundestag. More than half of this book, Steinbrück's first one, deals with the financial crisis that shook the world in 2008 and 2009 and isn't over yet. Even political opponents admit that it was Peer Steinbrück who was mainly responsible for Germany making it through the crisis easier and better than many other countries. While I don't agree with everything from the other half of the book dealing with Germany's social systems in particular, Steinbrück makes strong arguments for his cause nonetheless, demonstrating his competency as well as the aforementioned way of saying what he means...
